Shall I meet you at your dojo or somewhere on this junk of a planet? [Thanks to this thread Manji has a fight to pick. He could just call Kogarasumaru out privately, but he hasn't figured out how to do that just yet.]

[You know what else Manji can do that's really dumb? Try driving a car in a junker race with one arm. How hard can driving a car be when the most advance transportation you've ever driven was a horse?

And-- opps, yup. He's just crashed. In a spectacular fashion. Good thing he's immortal? Still, he may need a hand out of that wreckage.]

I would never accuse you of that. That's an insult. [she grins a little wider] I wouldn't do that. When would you like to spar, then?

Not today. [He was already an idiot enough to offer to fight someone else today. Even he had to admit he was going to be completely spent after that.]

But I would be happy to face you any time you want.

Perhaps it's better to set it whenever it's convenient for you. I don't sleep or need rest, after all.

Well, this planet has good arenas for fighting. I think it would be good to have our first match before we leave it.

Hmmm, we could do that. I haven't really been to the arenas myself, much.

I've been watching some of the fights that have been going on around here. Some people are pretty good.

[dreamvour]

Mmm, they are. [she draws her knees up so she can rest her chin on them] There's a lot of people who fight hand-to-hand, though. Or they - brawl? Is that the right word?

[canofmanji]

I think either works. [He takes another drag on his pipe.] I've seen a few of those. They're pretty good. Think you're more interested in something like that? Hand to hand or swords?

I'm not much for hand-to-hand. I know how to fight like that, but in this form - [her nose wrinkles] It's a little bit more of a challenge.

[canofmanji]

Can't you change forms?

[dreamvour]

This one? Not freely. This isn't a power I hold on my own. It's - mmm, something the gods have to approve, more or less. [her nose wrinkles] I change it every few years, so I've had many different forms, but I'm stuck in this one for now.

[canofmanji]

So the gods approved of this? [He uses his pipe to gesture up and down her whole body.] I am not surprised by that.

[dreamvour]

[she shrugs] It was my choice. Human adults tend to be untrustworthy, and the most valuable information I tend to get comes from children. I'm physically old enough to pass for one, but appear young enough to pass for another. It works to my advantage.

[canofmanji]

[Manji gives another puff on his pipe before speaking again.] I can see the advantages of it. Besides, men tend to get stupid around a pretty face so you got an advantage there too.

[dreamvour]

[there is genuine confusion on her face]

[He laughs deep and genuine.] Are you seriously tellin' me that you haven't had a man leer at you or act stupid around you yet?

[oh boy Manji are you ready for this conversation, I don't think so]

[Manji just blinks at her for a moment. Is-- is she serious? Has no one really tried anything with her? Or have they and perhaps she just hasn't noticed???????????

Does it matter? Could a guy take advantage of her naivety? She's not human after all so it doesn't matter, but she has a human body so... doesn't that mean it DOES matter? If they were in his world she'd be considered adult enough for this sort of thing to be common knowledge and UGH! his head hurts.]

[Blunt? Let's try blunt.]

Because from what I've found no matter what planet we're on it seems a lot of males still think with their dick. [He would be the first to admit of being guilty of it himself at times.] A pretty face and a man can get actin' pretty stupid around it because of it. And in this form-- [He gestures again at Baku] --there's going to be plenty of men who find your face pretty.

[oh, it's a. Hmm. She still looks confused, but her eyebrows draw down in that sort of . . . confusion where she sort of gets it, but not completely, and she doesn't want to get the rest either]

I haven't encountered any humans like that in this form. [she tilts her head] And if I have I haven't really noticed. I don't understand that kind of thing very well.

I'm impressed. Maybe people in space aren't so stupid. I suppose they'd need to be some what smart to travel like we do. I think you would have noticed even without understanding that sort of thing well if you did run into that.

[dreamvour]

I suppose . . . I mean, I'm not completely oblivious to it, I understand it in some sense. But I've never experienced it. I don't really tailor my forms to - welcome that sort of interaction? If that makes sense.

I didn't mean to imply that you did. More that it would be a natural side effect of this form you chosen, but I suppose it's a good thing that it's not. Means things have gotten a little less stupid since my time.

[a little dryly] Only a little less. Things don't grow less stupid over time, so much as it just shifts to a different kind of stupid.

Well, that's disappointing. I was hoping there would be less idiots as time moved on.
