[ when alucard woke up, he saw metal and wondered briefly if he was trapped in another coffin. but clarity comes soon after and he notices the bright, strange lights. similar to the kind that reside in his father's castle but . . . better developed. smoother, even. alucard rises into the air before letting his feet touch the ground. strange as this may seem, alucard isn't one to panic. answers will come and he will find them. at the very least, this does not seem to be his father's work.

one could consider that a mercy.

after some time, alucard finally finds the communicator and manages to turn it on. people would notice immediately that he is extremely pale and handsome. they would also notice he's bare chested. when he speaks, it's polite and soft. ]

[ a pause as alucard wonders if it is working. still he forges on. ]

I seem to be missing a few of my clothes. Particularly my shirt. Where might I find some?

[ alucard picks up a large size with long sleeves. he starts putting it on immediately. ]

This should do nicely. How is it you had so many with you?

I got them on the planet. In case people need them.

[He tilts his head some.]

People don't like the clothes they give us.

[He blushes a little and looks down. At least it seems like he looks down. Apparently a closer look at his mask shows that those eye holes are only painted onto the mask.]

People...deserve to be happy.

[ though alucard would have a hard time picturing that for himself. but that's not important. ]

[Oh. No one has asked him that while he's been here. If he's happy. Shin-Ah has to take a moment to really think about that. In the end, he realizes something important.

No...he's not. He misses Yona and the others. He longs to be with his found family again. Each day hurts to not be with them.

But in the end? He can't do anything about that.]

[ that's an answer in itself. ]

I suppose we shall all be. But it never hurts to look for other happiness if you can.

If others can be happy it's alright.

[It's so easy to sacrifice himself for others. He just does it without thinking.]

[There's silence while he gathers his thoughts.]

I was hated and feared until someone recently showed me light. The darkness doesn't scare me but it can scare others. I can walk in it so others can find a way out.

[ hmm. ]

Do you think the world you are in now is determined by darkness and light?

[Shin-Ah gathers his thoughts again before shaking his head.]

No. But some see it so.

[ sounds vague. and he wonders if that's true. so far, very few people have even noticed him as a vampire. ]

Are you okay?

[This line of questioning... Is it to ask about his own feelings? Or is it because this man is unsure of himself? Shin-Ah figures the only way to determine is to do what he's seen the others do.

I am quite well.

[ the inflection in his tone never shifts. as human as alucard looks, there is something eerie about him. ]

Though I confess, I would prefer to be home. I have a large task ahead of me.

[As eerie as he seems, Shin-Ah shows no sign of discomfort. He doesn't feel that he's in danger or others are in danger right now. So he doesn't bother with tensing up. Instead, he treats him the way he would any other other person.]

I think a lot here do. But people don't seem...scared to be stuck.

No. After all, what is there to fear?

[ to many, this is nothing. they're left in peace. they may not have pressing matters to return to. ]

[Shin-Ah is quiet for a moment or so before he speaks again. He has a feeling there's a darkness that this man is facing. That he has to face. But it's not here.

It must weigh so heavily on him. So he considers a moment before...]

[ alucard cocks an eyebrow. ]

Someone showed me that when you have to face shadows that having others helps. You can do anything then. She touched me when no one else would then.

[Yona... He misses you so much.]

[ sort of. he hasn't gotten to know belmont and the speaker all that well. but he . . . feels he can rely on them. ]

And what I have to face will give me no comfort.

[He nods in understanding. There is a lot of pain for Yona to face in the time to come. And perhaps more so since she doesn't know that all who are born Dragons die young. Having all of his friends doesn't bring comfort for what is to come and yet...

He reaches into the coat he's wearing and pulls out a wrapped something. After unwrapping it, it turns out it's a cookie. Something he now holds out to the other man.]

It...won't bring comfort. But it tastes good.

[ alucard blinks, surprised before his entire face softens. he takes the cookie carefully. ]

[There's another nod before he points in the direction where he knows his ship is.]

[He's been learning that's how people offer help here. By saying which ship is theirs so that way people can know where to find them. He's trying to mimic that now. He's not very good at being social but he thinks maybe he could try to figure out how to be friends with new people? At least this person doesn't seem to mind him reaching out.]

[ needing someone. what a concept. it takes alucard to wrap his mind around it. but he needs people now. he has to accept that.

and it is kind. alucard is the last person to dismiss the value of kindness. ]
