[ when alucard woke up, he saw metal and wondered briefly if he was trapped in another coffin. but clarity comes soon after and he notices the bright, strange lights. similar to the kind that reside in his father's castle but . . . better developed. smoother, even. alucard rises into the air before letting his feet touch the ground. strange as this may seem, alucard isn't one to panic. answers will come and he will find them. at the very least, this does not seem to be his father's work.

one could consider that a mercy.

after some time, alucard finally finds the communicator and manages to turn it on. people would notice immediately that he is extremely pale and handsome. they would also notice he's bare chested. when he speaks, it's polite and soft. ]

[ a pause as alucard wonders if it is working. still he forges on. ]

I seem to be missing a few of my clothes. Particularly my shirt. Where might I find some?

I think they have some in the draws there. Don't know if they have your size and it might be one of those gray suit things. Otherwise you got some on whatever ship or room you end up on.

Belth has gold eyes too, but they glow a bit, and the long thin ears mark him as something definitely not human. He clears his throat and tries to regain his wits.]

Your room should have some basic amenities. Jumpsuits, mostly. You can pick something up on the celestial road, as it were. There might be a tailor or someone else who can help you in the Fleet, too.

[ his eyebrows briefly furrow together because that sounded like a name and for a moment, alucard thought it might be his. but clearly not. he listens to the explanation attentively. ]

I see. I will do my best to keep myself properly supplied and not be a burden.

[ he cocks his head. ]

[Adrasteius. Close but not quite, and not the word he wanted anyway, but old habits die hard-- he usually tries to use Father now.]

I think it would take real effort to be a burden in this place. There is something in your neck-- don't touch it-- that gives you the information you need to do your job, supposedly. Mine only tells me how to cook the slop they give us, so it's less useful than a pilot's.

[He blinks.]

The... who? I am a blood elf-- formerly a high elf. The distinction is somewhat recent.

[Ordinarily nothing about this sort of message would have been enough to catch enough of Looma's interest to warrant a response, but...well, it's just barely managed that. Still, she does look incredibly bored, slumped down in the captain's chair aboard the Bishop, propping her head up on one fist.]

You may be the first arrival to be pulled here half-dressed. Congratulations.

[She's even extending her other three arms, in a half-hearted gesture that matches her general enthusiasm quite well. At least until she's prepared to properly respond to his question.]

Some of the others have already told you where to find clothes, I'm sure. But should you want anything that provides more protection, do not hesitate to request it. I have fewer projects than I would like to keep me occupied.

[ a monster? no, unlikely. alucard knew them all, for the most part. and he was essentially, in space. who knew what shape or form creatures took? ]

While not frequent, the fleet has come under attack before. There is also the occasional unfriendly element to be found anywhere we stop. More often than not, anyway.

[She doesn't sound too concerned by that, probably because she usually actively seeks out that crowd. It's cathartic.]

You humans happen to be some of the most defenseless beings in the galaxy. With some exceptions, of course. But in my experience they require weapons and proper equipment to pose a threat to anything around them. You arrive here with neither.

[Libra was about to respond to the broadcast, but there's an odd echo to it, and after a moment he realizes what it is: the ship's internal walls are pretty thin, and even a voice as soft as Alucard's can carry.

It doesn't take much wandering to track down the source, and he smiles politely as he pauses just outside the door.]

Welcome to the Red Fish. You must be our newest passenger.

[ alucard takes a moment to observe the man before relaxing, congenial. his fangs are still very noticeable. ]

I am. My name is Alucard of Wallachia.

[His gaze definitely pauses on the fangs for a moment, then flickers up to Alucard's hair, looking for taguel ears that aren't there. He doesn't seem to react further than that, at least.]

And I'm Libra, of the Shepherds of Ylisse. [Which Alucard has probably never heard of any more than Libra has heard of Wallachia, but it's nice to see that someone else has the same ideas of what constitutes a polite greeting, at least.] ...I don't know what kind of clothing you're used to, but if the jumpsuits provided by the Atroma aren't to your taste, there will likely be chances to purchase something else when we reach the next world.
