[ when alucard woke up, he saw metal and wondered briefly if he was trapped in another coffin. but clarity comes soon after and he notices the bright, strange lights. similar to the kind that reside in his father's castle but . . . better developed. smoother, even. alucard rises into the air before letting his feet touch the ground. strange as this may seem, alucard isn't one to panic. answers will come and he will find them. at the very least, this does not seem to be his father's work.

one could consider that a mercy.

after some time, alucard finally finds the communicator and manages to turn it on. people would notice immediately that he is extremely pale and handsome. they would also notice he's bare chested. when he speaks, it's polite and soft. ]

[ a pause as alucard wonders if it is working. still he forges on. ]

I seem to be missing a few of my clothes. Particularly my shirt. Where might I find some?

I mean, I've killed a lot of people in my time - bad guys, mind you - but I don't exactly go around thinking: Man, what am I going to do with my day? I know! Train up to kill that dude. Sounds like a plan.

I'm more of the "make some scones and have a bubble bath" type of guy.

Are you a mage as well?

Wizard, technically. But it's an important distinction to make versus warlocks, sorcerers, and necromancers.

[ananym]

[ eh. mage, wizard. ]

What is the difference?

[abracafcku]

Schools of magic, spells available, and the sources of our power. Sorcerers draw power from themselves and they're insanely powerful, but they don't have as many spells available on a given day. Warlocks forge a pact with something else and are taught their magic that way which limits them to what their patron can impart. A necromancer? Raises the dead and generally gets McMurdered whenever a reaper gains wind of them because fucking around with life and death magic is a biiiig no-no.

That is different from what I know of magic. The mage I knew could put her intent into her magic and do almost anything.

Different worlds, different rules is what I've been learning. Wizards can memorize a spell - any spell - and cast it. She's probably closest to that or to a sorcerer, depending on where she's drawing her power from.

I've never asked. She seemed competent enough in it that I trusted her skills.

Yeah, from my experience women seem to be the most competent of any species. Good choice in trusting her.

Yeah, probably not. I used to think I was pretty good at the most basic of functions: staying alive. But I've apparently died way more times than I actually have recollection of, so who knows anymore.

Well for the ones I remember? Time shenanigans. [He shrugs with a smile on his lips.]

Yeah, don't recommend it. It comes with some heavy, kinda shitty consequences.
