[ when alucard woke up, he saw metal and wondered briefly if he was trapped in another coffin. but clarity comes soon after and he notices the bright, strange lights. similar to the kind that reside in his father's castle but . . . better developed. smoother, even. alucard rises into the air before letting his feet touch the ground. strange as this may seem, alucard isn't one to panic. answers will come and he will find them. at the very least, this does not seem to be his father's work.

one could consider that a mercy.

after some time, alucard finally finds the communicator and manages to turn it on. people would notice immediately that he is extremely pale and handsome. they would also notice he's bare chested. when he speaks, it's polite and soft. ]

[ a pause as alucard wonders if it is working. still he forges on. ]

I seem to be missing a few of my clothes. Particularly my shirt. Where might I find some?

No disrespect intended towards your father, but flying machines are a far cry from space travel.

Maybe so. But our castle could travel across the world.

Hence why I am not too puzzled.

Magic, mostly. It was a castle that obeyed no laws save for the will of one other.

[It's still such a weird thing to him. His experience with it here is admittedly pretty limited, but he's seen enough to acknowledge that yeah, it's a thing, but even so. Friggin' weird.]

Most humans rarely deal with magic, unless it is part of their teachings. It does not surprise me that many here do not possess it.

You'll likely find a strange mix of magic and science in this place. The Atroma appear to draw in all sorts.

So it seems. I am passingly familiar, but I'm curious to know more.

If nothing else, this place will give you ample time to learn.

The Iskaulit has a library. You might find books to your liking there?

[ huh. ]

You have libraries on these ships?

Not on the smaller ships, no. At least not to my knowledge. There's a larger ship that travels within the fleet, more of a moving space station. There are workshops, restaurants, a few small businesses. At least one of the locations is a library.

How convenient.

[ a place where their needs are met and they have kinder captors. ]

But no less necessary. I cannot imagine living on a ship for a lengthy period of time.

[Yeah it's almost like they want their captives to enjoy themselves and not look for an escape or something.]

I doubt it's of any comfort to you, but you'll likely get used to it over time.

I'd hardly call myself qualified to answer that. I don't know you, nor do you know me- what counts as good company for either of us could be worlds apart.

...I will say that the people here have a tendency to be... kinder than expected. For the most part.

[ kind people. alucard has no doubt they exist. it's what he's fighting for.

but a part of him is still hurt for what humans did to his mother. but he's relieved it is not anger or bitterness that holds him. ]
