[Lord Akeldama had woken not long before. He didn't feel quite like himself. He couldn't tell what was doing it more: the strange pain in the back of his head or the fact that he had essentially been ripped from his territory.

It was... different still somehow than it normally would have been.

He didn't necessarily feel like trying out this new gadget they had been given just yet so he stood by the large window looking into the blackness of space. He had always looked at it from the ground. This is what it looked like up close]


First Breath
[All of this moving around was not doing the vampire any good. Didn't they know that a vampire needed his territory in order to be settled. First one ship and now another. This was most inconvenient.

Hopefully, the moving between ships had stopped. He needed a few days to settle in, for his head to accept this ship has "his territory". He'd do better once that happens.

However, this other ship seemed to be more to his liking. The style wasn't quite what he'd do with his own house, but it was close enough and he wasn't going to scoff at it. So much better than that other ship.

So rather sitting alone in that tiny room they called a cabin, Lord Akeldama made his way to kitchen, sitting quietly by himself for the moment]

[Finally feeling more the thing, Lord Akeldama decided to go exploring this ship called "the Iskaulit". It certainly looked like there was more space there than on the other ships. He was right about that and was quite happy to go exploring, to see what sort of spaces there were available to the Fleeters.

He's probably not too subtle, dressed in plum colored evening jacket, gold waistcoat, high heeled boots, and a cravat of a different shade of purple that still seemed to compliment both the waistcoat and the jacket]

Good afternoon, fellow passengers of this thing called "the Fleet". As I understand it, we are all trapped this positively wonderful place as part of a farce. Am I correct in this assessment? Is there anything else that I should know?

Soul has little bearing as far as I can recall.

That is fascinating that ours can be so different. The soul is everything to us. Only those with excess soul can survive metamorphosis. For either vampire or werewolf.

The nature of the soul is usually under the dominion of the church. As such, we tend not to look at it too closely.

Hmm... the church likes to tell us that too. There are too many who believe we have sold our soul for immortality.

My parents were scholars and doctors. They did not care much for theology.

[ and you know. the church burned his mom as a witch. ]

Were they now? Impressive. Both important though the elite will try to put down learning, especially for ladies. I don't much care for theology either so I understand their sentiments.

[The fact that according to most religions, he's an abomination who sold his soul for petty and trivial things might be part of that...]

That was certainly a difficulty my mother faced.

That is the way of the world, no matter how unfortunate. I for one do completely believe women are more than capable of anything. Finer feelings and modesty do of course come into play, but if they are willing.

I try not to hold opinions about women unless I am one myself.

It is a good thought to have. One usually ends up presuming incorrectly when you do. I will admit, I never expected a spinster to be any good with a weapon, but my dearest Alexia was always willing to use her parasol as such even before her marriage.

She does, darling. She even took it up without question when some ruffians broke into my house. She lost the thing after that encounter. Her husband, for all of his Scottish ways, was sensible enough to commission her a special one, more suitable to her whims. It is quite remarkable.

He has become so I think. My tea biscuit showed me her parasol at one point. It is quite the feat of mechanical engineering.

[ alucard has traveled all over the world to some degree, though he has remained in wallachia primarily. still, it is the 1400s. ]

I suppose even parasols must be redesigned.

I take it parasols as weapons aren't so common for you?

No. We tend to use those as protection from the rain.

[ in some places. wallachia wasn't so rich to have many people possessing things like parasols. or other luxuries. ]

Most do. Alexia is something different.

So, what is your home like, my dear?

It is difficult to put into words. Right now, things are chaotic. Wallachia is a large country, governed primarily by the church.

Wallachia... Can't say that I have ever heard of such a place.

It is located south of the Southern Carpathians mountain range, below Transylvania and Moldovia.

Oh, is it! Amazing. I have never been to that location myself, being limited in ability to travel, but I could find the mountains on a map.

It is less developed than some other nations.

[ hence why it is a fertile ground for darker thoughts to breed. why dracula moved there. ]
