Marsiva
[Lord Akeldama had woken not long before. He didn't feel quite like himself. He couldn't tell what was doing it more: the strange pain in the back of his head or the fact that he had essentially been ripped from his territory.

It was... different still somehow than it normally would have been.

He didn't necessarily feel like trying out this new gadget they had been given just yet so he stood by the large window looking into the blackness of space. He had always looked at it from the ground. This is what it looked like up close]

First Breath
[All of this moving around was not doing the vampire any good. Didn't they know that a vampire needed his territory in order to be settled. First one ship and now another. This was most inconvenient.

Hopefully, the moving between ships had stopped. He needed a few days to settle in, for his head to accept this ship has "his territory". He'd do better once that happens.

However, this other ship seemed to be more to his liking. The style wasn't quite what he'd do with his own house, but it was close enough and he wasn't going to scoff at it. So much better than that other ship.

So rather sitting alone in that tiny room they called a cabin, Lord Akeldama made his way to kitchen, sitting quietly by himself for the moment]

[Finally feeling more the thing, Lord Akeldama decided to go exploring this ship called "the Iskaulit". It certainly looked like there was more space there than on the other ships. He was right about that and was quite happy to go exploring, to see what sort of spaces there were available to the Fleeters.

He's probably not too subtle, dressed in plum colored evening jacket, gold waistcoat, high heeled boots, and a cravat of a different shade of purple that still seemed to compliment both the waistcoat and the jacket]

[Lord Akeldama has found himself a rather pleasing looking spot to make his post. It wouldn't do to have it look poorly behind him after]

Good afternoon, fellow passengers of this thing called "the Fleet". As I understand it, we are all trapped this positively wonderful place as part of a farce. Am I correct in this assessment? Is there anything else that I should know?

[He can't really fault him for complaining. It's the same thing Taako did when he first got here, but "one of" hi closets? Goddamn, rich people had it nice. Despite the last planet being trash, he's glad he was able to get what he could out of that place. At least now he's colorful and not wearing those ugly jumpsuits.]

Oh, I know. It's dreadful, but I've been told there's shopping on some of these places. Keep your fingers crossed for a nice one. Because some people have been warning me that "unfortunate" ones exist - cannibals? Apparently? But they're rare from what I've heard.

[Rich and eccentric. Multiple closets weren't common even among most of the wealthiest. Most of his drones were surprised at least the first time seeing his entire wardrobe selection. But he fancied himself a trendsetter so he always had to be on point]

Cannibals? Oh my, that's positively barbaric. [He took out his fan and fluttered it as though that would somehow drive away the thought of that] I will remain hopeful that there will be no such thing when we arrive at the next planet.

Doubtful - a show's ratings would fall if they kept throwing the same thing at us over and over.

[Which is a small bit of comfort. He finishes up with the salad prep and starts plating them individually for everyone on the ship. Even if it's unlikely that they'll come to dinner, he has an image and a reputation to preserve.]

I'll just be happy if the next planet isn't covered in trash.

Ratings? What, pray tell are those? Like a ranking?

[If there is a plate being made for him, Lord Akeldama will at least partake of it even if he can't eat much. He's too polite to not at least taste it]

So that's what the last location was?

Pretty much - the more people who like you and tune in to the show because of you, the higher your ranking and the higher the show's rating against all the others. The higher your ranking? Well, the more money you get. The more money?

[He gestures at the clothes Taako's wearing: a loose fitting blouse with sleeves rolled up, a blue and gold paisley vest, bangles at his wrists, and a high waisted pair of slacks underneath. Relatively tame for him.]

I was lucky enough to find some good things there, but yeah - it was the dumping grounds of the universe apparently. Lots of random shit everywhere, mostly actual crap, but occasionally something good.

Oh, well, then it is a good be popular with whoever our audience is. More likely be able to live is as you like.

[And Akeldama has expectations as a man who is more than willing to spend way too much money on something simple merely because he can]

Felicitations, darling, on being able to find anything of value if its how you say. I do say, your waistcoat is positively delightful.

[Akeldama will probably not approve of the rest of Taako's wardrobe. He just happens to be wearing something classy today rather than his giant rainbow boa and galaxy swirl leggings.]

They've assured me there's better shopping out there to be had, but I'm not holding my breath. I got everything I could, whether I needed it or not, while we were docked.

[The Mage Hand behind him vanishes and Taako catches the pan of protein gel. Maybe fish today - something easy and tame. Broiled fish in a lemon and dill white sauce... Yeah that sounds simple enough.

He slides the pan onto the countertop and taps a finger against it. Power flows through him and his focus - the little egg timer on the counter plastered with garishly loud rainbow stickers - and the gel forms into several thick pink filets of salmon.]

You'll have to be careful while shopping out there - apparently sponsors have a habit of sticking their names on everything.

[Well, he gets points for at least owning and wearing a waistcoat. He'd also get points for color even if it wasn't a proper English style]

I do so hope there will be better shopping. It's terribly inconvenient to not have the simple luxuries one comes to expect.

Do they? Oh, dear. So very unfortunate. Names and logos go on dirigibles, not people.

[Taako might have a wardrobe and he might be adding to it carefully piece by piece, but that doesn't mean he won't take a blowout shopping trip to quickly and efficiently bolster it again. Lup's little outing had packed his closet, but Taako could be a hoarder when he felt like he had a place of his own. And here? He definitely had space.]

I can deal with names on merch, but regular stuff? Nah. Don't need 'em on my coffee mugs or my shoes or whatever else they decide to print. Oh - and you'll need cash. Your first check'll take a bit to clear, so be ready to do some interesting shit to get it.

I completely agree. Why would a name need to be put on shoes? It would ruin the whole look to parade around with someone trying to read your foot.

[Taking it to an extreme, but that's what he does]

I can only hope that our invisible audience likes me then.

A good brand never passes up the shittiest merchandising opportunities.

[If Taako still had his, he'd be plastering it everywhere. But for now, he's still technically not in the clear. And announcing his name where the authorities could hear would probably be a bad thing when there's no way to prove his innocence.

He starts seasoning the fish while his Mage Hand pulls down ingredients to start prepping the sauce.]

What is it you do anyway? Back home at least. Here, fuck, you could start a marching band for all I know.

Back home, I am a peer of the realm. I don't use "Lord" simply because I like the sound of it though it does sound so very appealing. I am a member of her Majesty's Shadow Council, the potentate. Some would say, like all vampires, I am an icon of fashion... and I do tend to agree with them. Aside from that, I tend to dabble in this and that.

[The last sentence is the simplest, but also the most ominous in how little it explains what he does]

[Yeah that's supposed to mean something, but it means zilch to Taako. But what he took from all that was this - Akeldama was a fancy bureaucrat. That seemed about right what with his behavior and demeanor.]

Yeah, so....how will that translate over here? No realms, no councils, barely any fashion sense - leaves you with that "this and that," I guess?

[To be fair, Lord Akeldama hadn't wanted to be the potentate. You just didn't say "no" when Queen Victoria appointed you a position despite the fact that it was supposed to an elected position. He was however fancy]

Well, I am the supposedly the communications officer. I am good at this, especially if you knew anything about the dewan, that would be enough of a qualification. I can always work on the fashion sense part and I'll see about setting up "this and that". I am very resourceful.

[Thanks to his augment, he at least knows that means encryption, which is useful. They'll need that if what he's learned about this place is true - they won't want the Atroma to be listening in on them forever.]

Well that's definitely useful. Now all we need is a pilot and maybe we won't be such a hunk of floating metal anymore. I'd volunteer, but that's a bit too much responsibility for ya boy Taako.

But please work on people's fashion senses here. If you can get the Atroma to stop sucking, that would be great.

I'm afraid I can't help with that part. I don't travel so there was never a reason to learn to steer so much as a carriage, let alone a dirigible or a ship.

[He could have also come up with encryption without the augment, but they are more technical now. He may still have to write out more basic encryption for those interested in learning. He already knows he can't speak of it if it is remain a secret... or it is more likely to be so]

It's a matter of nature unfortunately. Vampires are tethered to a location. That is to say, it is a matter of great stress to remove a vampire from their territory.

I am what is known as a rove. We have the most freedom of vampires, able to come and go as we please. Still, I cannot get beyond a certain distance from my home territory without it causing me distress.

...So this must be full of sucksville for you then.

Somehow it seems they broke the connection with my own territory. I was only slightly fuzzy on the Marsiva. I believe my nature tried to establish that as a territory only to be sent here. So it started again. I do hope there will be no more transferring for the time being.

Soooo gonna take that as a "you have no choice but" type situation. Luckily for you, once you're here, you're pretty much here. [Not that transferring is unheard of. There's apparently paperwork for that because of course there is.]

Unless.... [Does Taako want to tell Akeldama about the ships crashing into each other?

Oh yeah. Yeah, my dude, this ship? Totally special. The magic walls is courtesy of our captain - who is, by the way, a literal god. The gothic architecture? You can thank ya' boy Taako for that one.

[He motions to the table with shimmering hue and then out the doorway to the halls where the barest glimpse of the intersections can be seen.]

So if you want magic or you want style, this is the place to be.

Fabulous! It is marvelous. When I first saw the Marsiva, I was afraid they would all be similar to that. This is by far superior. Not the same as I am used to, but better in some ways.

Pssht, nah. I mean, set-up wise it seems like all the ships are basically the same design. But each has a different look from what I've seen. We upgraded the shit outta this place because it was a damn disgrace when we moved in. [He says "we" but it was mostly Loki, and then Taako doing some finishing touches to earn a favor.]

Pipes everywhere trippin' people up and such. Muuuch better now. You can take a shuttle to go see the other ships if you want, but I think we're nailing the aesthetic pretty dang hard.
