Iskaulit - The Dojo

[This is a place where Kogarasumaru offers swordsmanship lessons but also a chance for people to spar in safety. However, today this space doesn't appear to be used for either of those things. In fact, if one is to come to this space for either they will instead find the tiny sword dancing. There's no music but it almost seems like it doesn't require it really. There's a sort of tranquility to his expression as he moves before he turns towards the one who has stepped inside and offers a smile as he holds his hand out towards that person.]

Will you watch or dance?

[He's now paused in his motions as he waits for the answer.]


Iskaulit - Fox Park

[Despite the snow, there is a pretty young man sitting there with a fox sleeping on his lap while he strokes the fur gently. He has no shoes or gloves on and clearly doesn't appear to be bothered by the snow. Is it cold? Well he's showing no signs of caring about that or even recognizing the fact and instead just enjoying the company of his companion.

Seeing someone, he lifts a finger to his painted lips in a soft shhh before smiling.]

Softly now. This little one sleeps.


Iskaulit - Hallway

[At some point he'll be found simply standing in a hallway looking thoughtful. There's really not much else going on honestly. He's just sort of looking off into the distance pondering something. At least until he notices that he isn't alone. At that point he'll turn with one of his customary smiles.]

Would you happen to be able to tell this father which establishment you would recommend for drinks? I would like to partake in one right now.

[Who better to ask than another person, right?]

( Being a Stark, winter reminds Sansa of home. The Fox Park on Iskaulit is blanketed in soft, white snow at the moment and it feels so much like being back at Winterfell that she can close her eyes and pretend for a bit. When she comes across the man with the fox in his lap, she keeps her voice low as not to wake him. )

You've tamed this one, then? If only I could do the same. I rather like foxes.

It is less taming and more that this little one knows I bring no harm. Would you care to sit with me?

[He smiles up at her. He's really quite small but he doesn't appear to be bothered at all by their differences in sizes. Instead he just has a warmth to his expression as he pats a spot on a blanket he has brought with him to sit on.]

I would love to, actually.

( Sansa is fond of animals, truly, and the fox looks so content laying in his lap that she cannot help but smile. He must truly be comfortable there; animals are sometimes a better judge of character than people and it relaxes Sansa to know the fox trusts this man. She takes a seat beside him. )

I used to have a pet direwolf, long ago. Lady was quite a formidable animal but very gentle and well-behaved all the same.

I am not so familiar with that of the direwolf. Though I find the name Lady to be a wonderful thing for the animal.

[He smiles up at her before holding a hand out towards her. His nails are long and sharp but with his hand held upward like this it seems quite clear that he means no harm at all. Then again, he has no reason to harm the young woman nor a desire to.]

May I have your hand?

( It's a strange request but Sansa offers her hand anyway, turning it palm up so that he can see it clearly. No one in the Fleet has ever tried to harm her and she doesn't have reason to believe that this man will now. )

And what, precisely, do you need my hand for?

( She asks it kindly, almost a friendly tease. )

[crow_dad]

[He lifts one finger to his lips but he smiles as he does. Gently he takes her hand and turns it over again as he brings it over until she's lightly petting the soft fur of the fox.]

( Sansa has never touched anything as soft as the fur of the fox and she gently rests her hand there for a moment before petting lightly, trying to be careful so she doesn't wake the creature. It's a wonderful moment and something to be treasured. )

[crow_dad]

[Letting her hand go, he watches as she pets the little animal with such tenderness. She has a good heart in her, something he can see already and it makes him smile as he lets the moment linger on a little longer before speaking again.]

There is gentleness in your soul. That is not something everyone has.

I am surprised there is still gentleness in me, to be honest. I thought I had gotten rid of all of that.

( Having a tender heart hasn't helped her any in life and, truly, has made her life more difficult in many respects. Sansa thinks it would have been easier all along if she hadn't thought the best of people, hadn't expected people to live up to her expectations of story and song. )

Dojo

[Nico's been trying to learn the ins and outs of the Iskaulit. It was large enough that traveling through shadows was feasible. He was still working out how to get from one ship to another - misjudging the distance would be a terrible mistake.

And as evidenced by his suddenly stumbling out of a shadowed corner of the dojo, frowning and confused, he hasn't quite got the hang of shadow traveling around the ship.]

[Kogarasumaru smiles at him, not at all bothered by the intrusion. Rather, he looks past him to see that there is indeed only shadow there. A rather unique little trick right there. Looking back to the young man, he shakes his head.]

There is no need for apologies. This father does not mind the sudden company. May I ask where it was you wished to go?

No prob!

[wakemelater]

[He squints at "this father". What is that about?

He huffs, looking around.]

I was trying for the library. [Which this definitely is not.] Am I even close?

[crow_dad]

[He pauses to consider that, fingers to his chin. The library... Ah.]

Not quite. I believe the library to be a few floors above this one.

[Kogarasumaru looks at the young man again before adding a question.]

I have not seen you before. Are you new?

[Then again, he hasn't seen everyone here so it's possible that's the case too.]

[wakemelater]

[He looks up at the ceiling with a groan. Of course. At least he was, kind of but not really, close.

A sigh.] Depends on how you define new. I've been here a month or so.

[crow_dad]

That can be quite new compared to some here. Would you care to take a rest here before you continue on your quest?

[He can at least offer that.]

I can prepare tea.

I ... I guess that's okay.

[It couldn't hurt to get to know more of the people here, for good or ill. Anyway, he won't admit it, but the moving through shadows, it's exhausting.]

This one is called Kogarasumaru. It is an honor to have been joined by you.

[Setting his things down, he pads over to where he keeps his tea set and kneels before it so he can start heating the water.]

Would you like a pillow to sit upon?

[Most aren't used to sitting without one these days. So he's made sure to provide cushions for those that are like that.]

Fox Park

[This was a new area of the Iskaulit that Ulaz had never fully explored. He knew it existed, but he had not gone in. There was snow on ground, but Ulaz is also not bothered by it though he is probably better equipped physically for the heat.

But a pleasant surprise, these looked like the animals that Lyall had sketched out for him not too long ago.

He did spot Koga easily, sitting there in the snow with one of the creatures. He walked over, nodding at Koga's comment, making sure to keep his voice low]

Of course. Seems you have found a good companion.

When one sits still for long enough and showing that there is no harm meant, one can build trust with the animals.

[As the evidence shows here. He smiles down at the creature keeping his lap warm before looking to Ulaz once more.]

Have you visited here before?

Makes sense. They begin to see you as part of their environment, something they can interact with.

[The fox on his lap very much proves that. There were others around, but since Ulaz had been moving until recently they might have been giving him some space]

I have seen it, but never come in. Surprising I haven't before now. Lyall mentioned these creatures to me some time ago and I still hadn't come to see them.

They are quite lovely. For now they are resting but there are times when one can come here to play with them.

[He looks around the area they're in.]

As far as I can tell no one owns this place now. I am thinking of taking it over so they may have better care.

It would make sense. This weather is usually the kind that make animals want to stay somewhere warm.

[He crouches down slowly, looking at the little creature still asleep before looking back at Koga]

I would welcome that. Come. Sit with me.

[He pats the blanket he's sitting on.]

Let us get them used to your scent.

[Ulaz nodded, moving over to sit beside Koga. He looked at the animal still sleeping, but let it rest. It wasn't a domestic animal after all]

Do you come here with them often?

At times. These little ones remind me of the animal friends of some of my children. It brings me fond memories I like to think about.
