Who: Flug, Red Fish and you!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Red Fish
When: NOW after Flug gets back on his feet

"Greetings Red Fish, this is your captain speaking!"

[And fresh from the medical ward, if the IV drip Flug is sporting is anything to go by. His goggles glint with mischievous glee as he steps away from his desk to reveal a seemingly inoccuous dial adjacent to the hallway doorframe.]

"Presenting Red Fish's prototype teleportation and travel station! Through these terminals I have installed, long trips of carrying heavy cargo, escaping potential threats and lengthy evacuation procedures are a thing of the past! With the turn of this dial, many doorways are now interchangeable! Just remember the terminals will only recognize you and a specific amount of mass your space occupies. Should you need you to add a guest or adjust these parameters simply report to me."

[Or just adjust them yourself through the terminal at the bridge; it's easy enough to identify through the copious amount of sticky note instructions Flug plasters over everything. But hey, he likes to feel important.]

"Observe!"

[And suddenly Flug strides into the kitchen... along with the potted plant from his room which also came along for no discernable reason. ]

"...Occasionally some bugs may occur"

[Private network]
[As useful as the teleporters were, having a side project helped provide good cover up for the other collaborative effort the fleet got up to. Ensuring all lights and cameras are off Flug boots up a different device...]

Initiating beta test protocol.. two.. three.. please respond. I trust everything is still operating efficiently?

OOC: Teleporters on Red Fish! You didn't ask for them, you might not even want them; regardless you now have them! As expected of something cobbled together from a junkyard, they are prone to malfunctions; maybe sometimes you'll wind up in a different room than the one you intended or perhaps your tiny stereo likes to turn on and off randomly when the signals get crossed. It's yours to play with as you please! With that, I am officially back from hiatus. Fluggyboy collapsed after working too hard If you would like to assume you have helped him (in building or forcing his ass to get medical care, feel free!) I'm excited to see new faces :> as always feel free to PM or hmu on plurk!

Given the sheer scale of the apparent universe, it makes sense to have a dedicated system to having ships brought back in when escape attempts are made. The Fleet would never last otherwise.

[It's more of a whisper than a really clear thought, but Mantis can hear it regardless. Clever man indeed. He sends out a thought of his own to the sentiment: I'm always for a little rebellion. Count me in.]

My first thought is how sophisticated pranks can become if this really becomes as widespread as you seem to want it to be. You're opening a door to a lot of creativity.

He certainly tries XD

To a brick wall or the road to hell. You really are a madman.

[It's like looking into what that Emmerich man could have been if he had been anything but a nebbish coward. Perfect personality to catch the attention of a certain sniper, but Flug is definitely more like the kind of people Mantis is used to. He shares the sense of malevolence over the psychic link and can't help physically smiling as well.]

You're thinking transportation? Moving items of interest between ships would aid in conflict resolution. My ship got shot out of the sky several systems back. We crashed on a planet bathed by the light of a red sun along with other ships in the fleet.

Oh, no one told you about that? I never forget when people are trying to kill me.

[He leans forward almost conspiratorially, lacing his fingers together.]

In all the inhabited planets we have come to, I don't think anyone really knows about Atroma. But this planet... The people who lived there were cannibals who shot down ships for food. We were rescued with help from some outsider who came to the planet.

[He sighs and shakes his head.] Good times, though, if you're someone like me or like Looma. We went out and had ourselves a good time showing what we're known for back on our planets.

It wasn't planned. The attacks were sudden and swift. It amazed me anything lived on that planet at all.

[Drama made for very good ratings. Mantis is buzzing with irritation, but there's a quiet hum under it like a coiled up spring.]

Looma has worked towards upgrading the ship as much as she can. She's the true commanding officer between all of us on the Bishop, so I trust her judgement. Right now, the ship is worthy of space travel and the crew is safe. That is all we can hope for.

I'm used to having a CO with a strong personality. She's like looking at what my boss at home could have been if he were a female alien.

[Mantis almost wants to have another attack, a proper one, to show off what he can do on a good day. Smugglers and wildlife only make for good quarry if delivered frequently.]

We get new faces so often, I don't think much of it. Sometimes we see interesting people. I met a little girl who had psychokinesis. She couldn't have been much older than I was when I started using my powers.

I think for a lot of people here what I do is actually some kind of magic. Not that I'm not used to people thinking that what I do is highly unusual. My world focuses so heavily by technology that it becomes a running joke that someone refuses to believe I can do anything I claim without a demonstration.

[He shakes his head.]

Hard to say where she came from. She didn't say a word and I wasn't about to poke around in the head of a child who could probably fight back if she wanted to.
