[Victor finally changed out of the striped suit he'd been wearing when he arrived. Not knowing if there was a proper medical uniform, he went with blue scrubs. Seemed like a safe bet. His hair is still darkened, since he didn't want to waste resources getting hair dye. And he's already made himself at home in the Heron's sick bay]

So I finally made it onto a space ship. I want to be excited about it. We're going to be out there exploring new worlds, discovering new life, boldly going and all that. And yet... [He sighs] This isn't really how I thought it'd go. Though if this is some ridiculous reality show, it would figure that they did it this way. Increasing drama, I guess.

Crew of the Heron, I'm your new medical officer. Or doctor or whatever it's called here. I'll keep my office hours flexible if you need anything. I've heard a lot of stories about living and working on a star ship. In spite of everything, I'm looking forward to it.

[And with that, he sets about cataloging all the stuff in the sick bay so he knows where all the medicine and equipment is. He doesn't know whether or not any of his new crew will come by, but he'll keep the door open for them just in case]

[And he slowly shakes his head.

And stays where he is.

Yep. Real good at being social.]

[Well, all right. Victor's just going to get back to cataloging all the stuff in this sick bay, then, and ignore the strange masked person in the room.

He's not so great at being social, either]

[And now they've reached an awkward moment of silence.

At least until Shin-Ah sees a picture of something that the man is cataloging. Looking around, he points to a cabinet.]

There.

[He can't read but he can at least match pictures against what objects would be. It helps that he can see through solid objects too.]

[He opens the cabinet, making notes of what's in there, and moves on. He should make an effort at conversation]

So you been on this ship long?

A little before you arrived.

[He moves closer to look at the list the man has. To see if there are other pictures. He's slightly shorter than him but the fur attached to the mask seems to make up for that. Shin-Ah doesn't seem to notice as he sees the next picture and looks around before pointing again.]

There.

[He really just wants to help and this is what he's good at.]

Thanks again.

[He considers for a moment, then hands over half the list] Here, you take this half and I'll take the other. We'll get it done faster.

[He blinks behind his mask before nodding and taking the list. He can at least do that. Match things to what he sees.

Though now it becomes an interesting moment of him standing in the middle of the room without moving around to check. Instead he looks at something on the list then looks around the room before nodding and looking at the list again. He's not even opening any of the cabinets at all.

But at least the things on the list are there. The letters all match the ones on the containers he sees even if he can't read any of them.]

[Victor pauses in his own inventory check to see how the other is doing. And watches him just looking at the list and then around the room]

You can see through the cabinet doors?

[Shin-Ah stops what he's doing for a moment to look over at the other man. Then he nods. A closer look will reveal that the mask only has painted eye holes. Those aren't actually holes at all. Which means that mask should also be blocking his sight as well.

But here he is. Apparently not stopped by solid objects blocking his line of sight.]

[Science mode engaged! He's very intrigued and wants to test it out more, ask questions about it. He takes a moment to think of how to start in a way that the other doesn't have to speak to respond]

Would you be willing to answer questions about that ability?

[....about being able to see? Well The Iron Bull wanted to know too and he guesses that his crew should know if they're curious. So he nods.]

I don't mind.

Thank you. Go ahead and get comfortable. I'll do the rest of the inventory later.

[He waits for the other to settle before starting the questions]

First, is this something you were born with or something that happened later in life?

[Going over, he sits down, setting his half of the list to the side. At the next question he goes quiet for a second then reaches up to untie the mask and pull it off. The short cropped blue hair is easier to see now, as are the red marks on his face.

When he opens his eyes they're gold and the pupils are slits. Honestly, they're gorgeous. Almost like living gemstones.]

I was born with these eyes.

[He nods. The eyes are intriguing but he'll have to examine them later]

So then what's the purpose of the mask?

I can kill people when I look at them. I couldn't...control it before and the mask saved people.

[He looks down at the mask in his hands.]

Even though I can control it now, the others who came before me had to wear this. Ao had to. I want to wear this for them.

So it's in memory more than out of necessity. [Something else he said caught Victor's ear] How many others were before you?

Mm. [He nods. That's right. His eyes lift for the next question.]

I don't know. I know there were many Seiryuu before me.

Okay. So what about the one right before you?

Ao has been gone for a long time now. [By the tone of his voice one can infer that by gone he means dead.]

Right. So is that how it works: one dies and another takes their place?

[That's...very close to it honestly. Though not all understand that so quickly. But he doesn't seem to mind nodding.]

A Seiryuu is born and takes the power of the last. The previous Seiryuu loses everything when the new is ready.

[Even if it means the new is only four years old at the time. And helpless. And meant to be left alone to survive on his own in darkness.]

[Well, that's how things work in some cases. It was an educated guess]

It's an incredible power for anyone to bear. I'm glad to hear you've learned to control it.

[There's a slow nod from the young man because he's glad as well.]

I don't wish to hurt anyone.

Good to know. [He smiles] I'm Doctor Frankenstein, by the way.

Doctor Frank...in...in... [He's really trying to pronounce the man's name. It's just a mouthful of unfamiliar letter combinations he's not used to yet. By the time he gets it out it sounds...almost nothing like what the man said and he flushes a little before looking down.]

...I'm Shin-Ah.
