alucard | ota
[ honestly, getting off the ship was a godsend. not that alucard had any gods to thank, being a faithless abomination. or whatever it is the gods have decided he would be. he doesn't give it much thought. all he knew was that he seemed to have traded one coffin for another and it kept him from his goals. so coming to a planet was a relief.
so he ran.
not in his usual form but as a white wolf. his paws dug into the ground as he ran, fast, a blur in the night before finding himself in a snowy field. he slows down to a trot and then flops on the ground with a quiet whine, basking in the silence. ]
[ ii. ice sculpture. ]
[ one of the few things alucard was good at, which didn't lend itself to death and warfare . . . was art. it was one of the few skills he didn't inherit from his parents, his and his alone. unique. like himself. after alucard performs some errant jobs like bodyguarding and ice-harvesting, he finds himself a quiet corner and a large slab of ice as tall as himself. then with a chisel, he gets to work.
once it's done, it has taken the form of this woman with alucard gazing at it with a soft expression. ]
[ iii. bodyguarding ]
[ money makes the world go round. or so it is said. which is why alucard volunteers to bodyguard. he likes protecting people and he is nigh invulnerable. which people obviously don't realize from the start as he is attacked in broad daylight, protecting his charge.
attacked may be putting it strongly. the man punches alucard in the face before drawing his hand back in pain, his hand broken. when alucard's charge scuttles off, alucard pulls the man aside and bandages his hand, the way his mother taught him to. ]
Reckless. You should think about giving up common theft. It will not end well for you.
[ iv. the cold never bothered him anyway. ]
[ he's not sure what possessed him to make his way down to the tree. perhaps legends attract legends. perhaps he is still looking for a way out. still, for all his vaunted honesty, alucard finds himself hesitating, glancing at whoever is nearby. ]
Perhaps if we trade secrets together, it will not hurt as much.
[ v. wildcard! ]
[ got an idea? pitch it here / pm this journal / poke me on

And then to feel like he was invading a rather private moment in a public place.
Remy cleared his throat, giving Alucard a moment to come out of his own thoughts before interrupting it with words.] Ya got quite a talent there. She's lovely.
no subject
[ art was one of the few talents that was solely his. not his father's or mother's. ]
She was my mother.
no subject
Though that 'was' told another story other than just missing someone important.] 'm sorry. [He half mumbled out, not sure how sensitive the topic was, and tried to move it away from mourning to something more neutral, as it just felt like too personal of a topic to talk to someone who was a stranger.] She seems to be a rather fine muse for ya. Ice can't be an easy medium to use. [Remy may not be able to do art, but he knows quite a bit about it.
It kind of came with the whole territory of stealing it.]
no subject
I have my tools for sculpture with me.
[ he raises his hand, letting the nails elongate. ]

An unforgiving element only means you must persevere harder. And I'm not one to give up.
no subject
Ya were an artist back home? Before the whole kidnapped by alien thing, that be.
no subject
I have no earned qualifications if that's what you're asking. I simply enjoyed it.
no subject
Shame ya can't sell it, bein' that it won't last. [Or maybe it would? Did this planet even have a summer?]
no subject
I doubt it'll fetch a high price.
no subject
Ah, merde, manners. [Really, so rude Remy.] 'm Remy, nice to meet ya.
no subject
I am known as Alucard.
late reply is late
Huh.]
Ya pretty new to the Fleet, right? [He does keep an eye on new comers, even if he doesn't always greet them.] Hopefully settlin' in fine.
no worries!
I have only just arrived, but I have had no issues.
no subject
I would say ya need an agent, or a manager, someone to represent ya art, think ya could do well. Though, suppose all depends on the planets we land on 'nd their taste. Or if ya even 'nterested in it all. [They, some artists weren't, some just did it for the sake of the craft. A shame if this was the case, Alucard had a real talent, but hey, everyone to their own.
A shame it wasn't really suitable for the Space Bar. It felt a little too high class for that place.]
no subject
But why would I need to?
no subject
Or just never needed it at home. Or thought about it at home. Any of those.]
no subject
[ he doesn't make art on a lot of subjects after all. he can't imagine it being very compelling. ]
no subject
Or could rent yaself out to do fancy ice sculptures for parties. [Who knows if those nails of his could get through something more sturdy, like stone. It would be good information to know, provided none of it was aimed at Remy.]
no subject
[ it is a little too close to what artists did for the church and alucard isn't the church's biggest fan right now. ]
no subject
Remy shrugged off the suggestion then. He wasn't there to pressure Alucard into anything he didn't want to, more just wanting to pass on an idea than anything. And to still admire that art. He didn't get a chance to do a lot of art shopping or appreciation now days, and certainly not in the same ways he use to.] Not a bad hobby to have 'nstead then.
Hopefully see a few more of ya pieces before we head off planet. Never know when will come 'cross 'nother with so much ice to work with.
no subject
[ this had been a moment of whimsy, nothing more. ]
iv
Do you think so...? [Maybe that was it? What he unburdened himself with wasn't enough?]
no subject
Or so the legend goes. But I'm not one to dismiss legend from truth.
