Humans did.

[Really, that one seems obvious. He appraises Han before following up with a question.]

I take it that the androids you know of aren't like me?

That narrows it down.

[ He's honestly half wondering if he's being messed with, here. ]

Well, even most protocol droids are still metal.
coinstability: (Cool story bro.)

[He's only half-wrong. At least 'droids' isn't really a common term for Connor, without much of the baggage those other terms come with.]

So they have external metal frames. They're obviously not intended to look like humans in your world if that's commonplace.

Well, no. You wouldn't need it and I bet it'd cost a fortune.

[ And that's assuming anyone would want to. Which he's not sure about. The whole idea is unsettling. ]

I don't think any species does that. At least not regularly.

That's how it's been done in my world for over twenty years. The costs have been brought down significantly since the first few androids.

[Not that he particularly likes talking about how much androids cost to buy, these days. He rolls his shoulders a little bit, changing the subject.]

But you do have androids, which is something that seems rare for the worlds represented in the Fleet.

I mean, most planets do, back home. But a lot of people here come from places that seem...

[ he can't find a polite way to say it. ]
coinstability: (Cool story bro.)

[personal profile] coinstability 2018-11-29 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't worry, Connor's not that polite either.]

Not technologically advanced?

I understand what you mean. Even for different versions of my own planet, there seems to be discrepancies in the level of technological advancement between them.

[A real puzzle. There's no reason why an Earth a century ahead of his own shouldn't have androids, and yet that's exactly what he's heard.]

You said planets - you were already familiar with space travel before coming here?

Sure. I'm the captain of a ship. A better one than the junkers we've got here.

I take it the Fleet ships are not built to the same standard as those in your universe.

Certainly not to any ship I'd fly.
