[ Jim's staring seriously at the camera as the broadcast begins, concern visible on his features. He might be easily recognizable to most everyone on the Fleet, but as soon as he starts talking, it will become obvious that he is not the same man, or at least not having the very same memories. Not of this place, that's for sure. ]

My name is James T. Kirk. I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, but for what it's worth, I'm one of the new arrivals.

[ He presses his lips, glancing around. ] This isn't the first time I've been brought to a universe other than my own, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience. Coming here from a place that's not your reality of origin.

[ A pause, ] Specifically, has anyone here heard of Riverview, or the Quarantine?

[ He can't help a hopeful look. A familiar face, any familiar face, will be welcome. He's looking for a specific one, admittedly, but he's not holding his breath on that one. ]

ACTION ▹ SS RED FISH

[ Once he makes that broadcast, he'll be exploring his new location, so he knows what he's dealing with. He can be found roaming the ship, poking his head into all the nooks and corners, and possibly trying to sneak his way into off-limits locations, if there are any. Stop him getting into trouble, or help him? Or just come say hi to a not-quite-new face. ]

I didn't exactly do it on purpose, for what it's worth. But it's... par for the course, where I'm from. [ Pause. ] Where we're from.

[ Yeah that's gonna be weird as hell to get used to. ]

Remember that place I mentioned, Riverview? You were there too, for a good while. We didn't really talk much over the last few months you were there, but I did know you.

[ Jim's lips stretch into a wide grin, and he chuckles. ]

Good. Alright then, stay where you are and I'll come to you. Where on the ship are you?

[What the fuck? Even more things he doesn't remember? He's pretty sure he'd have some memories of being in a place called Riverview with a starship captain. But nope. There's nothing here - not even a glimmer of static even. That's...

Well, that's downright goddamn disturbing is what it is. So, naturally, Taako laughs it off.]

Nope - sorry, my man. Don't have a clue about anywhere called "Riverview." But I hope it was a lot more scenic than the whole big black expanse of space or whoever made it really dropped the ball with the naming. I've only been here about a month or so, and before that? Aaaall Faerun.

[ He laughs. ] Of course.

[ Where else would Victor be, really. ]

Sit tight. I’ll be there in a jiffy.

[jolting]

I'll be waiting.

[And he will. Though he has enough time to find that striped suit he'd been wearing for his haunted house. He needed something he kept in the pocket there]

It's actually not that uncommon at all. The coming from a place that's not your reality of origin. There are a pretty decent handful of us...or there were. I did a survey on the subject about a year back or so.

[Felix looks faintly contemplative.]

I don't think I heard the name 'Riverview', but not everyone gave me names anyway.

[ Jim’s pretty quick to head to the shuttle bay and find the first free shuttle he can use to fly over to the other ship. It’s a considerable window of time, and about an hour later he’s finally stepping into the sick bay of the Heron. A quick scan of the room is all he needs to find who he’s looking for. ]

Victor. [ He rushes over in quick strides, wrapping his arms around the doctor’s neck. ]

[jolting]

[Maybe it's because of being around couples like David and Mary Margaret, but Victor just stubbornly assumed he and James would meet up eventually. Still, he's glad he didn't have to wait long and when James hugs him, Victor lifts him and does a little twirl, kissing him when he sets James down again]

I don't know. I've seen weirder shit.

[And crazier shit, if they get right down to it.]

Yeah, that's not going to be confusing at all.

[ Carl is on his way back to his room when he bumps into Kirk, a bit of confusion flashing briefly on his face. ]

Are you looking for someone, Captain Kirk?

[ Maybe his own Captain or someone he knows? He didn't really think he knew anyone from his ship. ]

[winscenario]

No... Not really, no.

[ His own expression isn't as confused, at least not anymore. His reaction is delayed, but a number of people already have confused him with the other Kirk, so it's not much of a surprise when it happens again. ]

I'm sorry, but I don't know you. I'm not the same Captain Kirk you know.

[winscenario]

I see. [ He nods thoughtfully. ] Not so many anymore?

[ So people were just as prone to vanish here as they were back in the Quarantine. Not a very comforting thought. ]

That's alright. It was mostly a shot in the dark. Luckily I did get one positive answer, so that's... actually, considering who it is, it's worth a lot.

[winscenario]

Well, rest assured. I am also Captain James T. Kirk.

[ Which is some pretty weird shit in its own right, but. What's his life if not just a bunch of weird shit happening. ]

Sorry. [ He manages a smile. ] Whatever you call him, you can call me something else.

I didn't think you'd remember it. [ Taako's reaction was pretty telling in that regard. ]

It was pretty nice. Riverview was originally a quarantine city built within two fortifying walls on a moon, surrounded almost entirely by nature. We had a few tough situations, mostly involving wild creatures sneaking into the city, but it was generally a peaceful place. Beautiful, too.

[ The little twirl gets a laugh from him, the relief he feels indescribable. After talking to Loki, he had genuinely worried that, even if he were to run into Victor by some miracle, he wouldn't even remember him at all.

Guess miracles do happen, sometimes. ]

I'm so glad you're here. [ He breathes, kissing Victor again. But he does pull away, asking in a more serious tone. ] Is anyone else here? Lucy, Jyn, John...?

[winscenario]

[ After so many people told him about another James Kirk being on the Fleet already, he started preparing himself for the inevitable awkward moment where the two of them would meet. It doesn't quite compare to reality, though, even if they're talking over the network, and not meeting face to face.

It's fine. Spock handled it just fine, so why wouldn't he? He's got this. (They've got this???) ]

I'd wager we're good looking in all of them. [ It's a joke but also. End him when he loses his looks. ] So not a first for you? That's a relief.

[jolting]

[He cups James's face in his hands, holding him close for as long as he can. He too takes on the serious tone when James eventually pulls back]

It's just us as far as I know. I'm hoping Lucy made it back to Henry and her mother.

He does laugh at the return joke. Seems like his other self has their sense of humor. Which was... comforting and odd at the same time. Ugh, this was going to be a mess for a bit wasn't it? ]</sub>

[ He lets out a breath, shoulders dropping. It's not the answer he was hoping for, but it was the answer he was expecting, so it doesn't come as too much of a shock. ]

Right. [ He nods, smiling a little. He's not too reassured, but he does know that, even if Lucy didn't make it back, she'd have people to look after her.

He's still going to miss her terribly, though. ] I'm sure she's alright. You're right.

[jolting]

Speaking of Lucy, she, ah.... helped me with something. Something I want to do before we're separated and sent to another world again.

[He checks to see no one's coming before pulling James farther into the sick bay. Trying to get them as much privacy as they can]

I know we hoped for it to be the Enterprise, but we talked about this. About being in space together. And now it's happened.

Oh, sorry. I mean, I don't really know him that well, but I've seen him on the network a bit.

[ Still, he holds out his hand. ]

I'm Carl.

[ The joking does ease some of the tension off his shoulders, and he grins faintly. He's got a feeling they'll manage to work this out somehow. ]

Yeah, same here. I've met two men with our face before, but they were different. One of them a little older, even. Definitely hairier.

[ Gesturing to his own jaw area, as to indicate a big, scruffy beard. ]

That sounds perfect, actually. Your quarters, if you don't mind? I keep getting these weird looks, and I can only imagine it'd be even worse if people saw us together.
