Fleetsgiving Mingle [ Open to All ]

An invitation was sent out via the network to all of the Fleet, inviting them to come together for a night of feasting, dancing, and games.

Kirk has managed to procure an event space for what he has dubbed Fleetsgiving. It sports a warm, interior space, decorated with tables, including two longer ones for food and drink. Along the far wall is a fireplace, crackling away for warmth, chairs set around and a table for fireplace games. The entire room glows with lights set in draped garlands, candles, and dim lights, warm and inviting and offering intimacy for those who wish to find it. Kirk would take credit for the decor, but no, it was the product of the owners of the event space. Probably just as well, to be honest.

An open space at the center is open for dancing at one's leisure, music drifting through the air - loud enough for dancers to sway to a beat, but not loud enough to make conversation impossible. But, who knows, maybe towards the latter half of the evening when everyone has drunk enough, there will be a dance contest. There might also be a karaoke contest, but, really, that's up to the people.

There is some prepared food - something that looks like a kind of poultry and something like meatballs in a bright orange sauce. Kirk can't vouch for what sort of animals they came from, but he can vouch for them being delicious. Bread, jam spreads, butter, local nuts and crackers. For desert there are what look like tiny tarts, and cookies dusted in a sweet pink powder. But while there is food provided, there is plenty of room for others to bring their favorites from home, or even their favorites from being here in the Fleet.

Nothing was spared for drinks either. Local wines are set out in their bottles, ready to pour, fizzy drinks in cans and punch bowls, harder options for those who wished them further down, and water and juice for those less inclined to imbibe. While there isn't much room for additions, they are welcome.

By the fire are a number of games laid out for choice - cards, some board games, and even a chess set, though it is a touch odd. Three boards, at varying heights, on a curved stand. The way the seats are arranged make it comfortable for many to play at once, or for only a few to play and many to gather by the fire and watch or idly chatter.

Come one, come all, and have a good time!

[It's not meant as a jab, but it probably comes out like one. Taako stops trying to stuff Carl silly and instead holds a gravy boat with a ladle in it out to him.]

[He starts pouring the gravy by the spoonful over the top of the turkey. This is where he won't go overboard because meat to gravy ratio is one thing a lot of cooks fuck up. Too much and you don't taste the main course, too little and you're left wanting. So as Taako talks, he carefully doles out the perfect amount while simultaneously looking nonchalant.]

You'll be kicking yourself for refusing a party by Taako, my dude, just say yes. And elves don't reach adulthood until we're 100. Our bodies grow up at aroooound the same rate as humans? But we just slow aging down to a near stop until we start hitting the 700s or thereabouts.

[ He hesitates for a long moment before nodding. ] Okay.

...Really?? That's crazy! How old does that make you, then?

[What's crazier is trying to stuff all the living you can get into just a few short decades. It's no wonder humans were such a frantic race.

At the question, Taako mulls for a moment and for some reason has to resist the urge to say 200.]

Hard to say because we don't really give a shit about birthdays after we come of age, but uhhhh 150? Somewhere around there. Beginning of the prime of my fucking life.

[Taako smirks and motions to the plate.]

[ Carl rolls his eye, turning his attention quickly to his plate. He stabs his fork into a bit of turkey, stuffing it into his mouth. He makes a pleased hum, nodding his head. ] 's really good.

[Just "really"? He must be losing his touch - but then again, this kid would eat anything, so he can't really take offense.]

Scale of 1 to 10 me, my dude. Taako's ego needs a little boost.

..Definitely like a nine or ten. I've only ever had dry turkey before. [ He loved his mom dearly, but she had been.. not great at the cooking thing. He and his dad kind of grinned and bore it. ]

[He cannot imagine subjecting anyone to dry turkey. That's...that's just cruel and unusual culinary punishment.]

You've never had anything but dry turkey?

Even Taako knows better than to insult a mother's cooking. He pauses for a moment, then drops another cut of meat onto Carl's plate.]

Well, if she ever shows up here, you send her to me and I'll see if I can't at least salvage some of those skills of hers.

[ Carl offers a strained smile, nodding. ] Yeah.. though I really doubt it. She died a few years ago.

[Yeah, he figured as much. Taako though? He's not going to let that stop him.]

And? I died like eleven times before coming here, and that's just the eleven I apparently remember. You can't say they don't bring people after death here either, so there's always a chance.

Time bubble shenanigans - all of them apparently counted enough that Death himself came by for a little disappointed chat-sy about, well, not bending, but absolutely obliterating the rules of life and death, but we came to an agreement in the end.

That said? Death here is weird as shit, and the Atroma are giant fuckwads who like to give us what we both want and don't want the most, so who knows.
