Wedding Preparations
Who: Randolph Lyall and OPEN!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Yes, on the Planet and the SS Blameless/Iskaulit.
When: First two weeks of December
A. Suit Shopping
[So, as some people might remember, Lyall as a wedding to attend which just happens to be his own, so he needs a suit, so that means shopping.
He already has colors in mind, so he's going to be wandering the local shops - at night, because of the werewolf thing - to choose fabric and have the thing made, he's definitely not buying off the rack.
If you've never seen Lyall shopping before, you might be surprised. It might not be as obvious as with Biffy, because he wears mostly neutral colors and nothing too flashy, but he has a keen eye for fashion (the fashion of his time, of course), and you are likely to find him deep in conversation with a shop attendant regarding color associations, fabric, and cuts.
Come and give your opinion on his choices, you might even learn something.]
B. Accessories
[Once the suit is taken care of, there is a need for... well, all the rest. Cravat, cravat pin, gloves, a hat... so many things. Lyall will be hurrying between shops as he compares wares before choosing what he feels would suit him the best.]
C. Closed to the Blameless
[So here you have a werewolf coming back from the Planet with shopping bags. He's a bit tired from all the shopping to be honest. He enjoys it, but in small doses, and this is a lot to do at one time, especially for a special event. So he needs a break.]
Hello. I was just about to go make some tea. Would you care for some?
D. Bonus Headache (Blameless or Iskaulit)
[So a certain werewolf has been informed that as part fo the wedding ceremony, he is expecting to write vows.
He has never done that before.Honestly he had never even heard of that before, but people were adamant that this was necessary. So here he is with paper and pen and a cup of tea and pondering.
Randoph Lyall has written many a thing in his life. Detailed reports are a specialty of his. As a werewolf, poetry or anything of the like are rather out of reach, but he's read some.
Being asked to put into words what Biffy means to him, as putting it into words that will be said out loud in front of everyone... he's desperately drawing a blank here. Maybe it's because he's so old. More of a wolf than even he thought.
In frustration, he rubs his face, then throws the pen down on the table to go and make some more tea or order some more. Unlikely to help, unfortunately, but it will keep his mind occupied for a while.]

I would love some. How was the shopping?
[No one is around so he moves forward to steal a kiss to his cheek.]
no subject
[he is a bit unsure about whether he should show Biffy his purchases or not. There are superstitions about such things but they are about brides, so he's not sure how that factors in for both of them. Plus, he doesn't need to show them since he knows Biffy trusts him with fashion.]
I shall go and put this away first, shall I?
no subject
[He chuckles a bit at that and actually tugs him back close again to steal a kiss to his lips this time. There's no one around. They can be more forward than simple touches currently.]
We're already not being that traditional. Perhaps I could see?
no subject
I can show you of course, but I was just thinking to put them out of the way instead of bringing those to the kitchen.
[You know, since it's precious and he wouldn't want any stains or accidents.]
isn't it you who Lady Maccon said married into the pack anyway?
no subject
[He gives a little shrug before offering to help carry the packages to their room.]
Let's drop these off and you can show me what you got. We can have tea after.
no subject
I was wondering if I should surprise you with it.
no subject
[But that's because he loves to know things.]
no subject
[Not that he needs your approval, Biffy, because he knows you trust him with fashion, but it'll be nice to have it as well.
He leads the way into the room and takes the boxes out of the bags, lining them up on the bed.]
I went to pick up my cravat, handkerchief and cravat pin.
no subject
And he takes up a seat so he can be out of the way to let Lyall show him at his own pace.]
I am ready when you are.
no subject
It's blue. Not sky blue, as that would make Lyall's complexion too washed out,and not royal blue either as that would be too bold, but a nice in-between. There's a pattern of vines embroidered in the fabric in the exact same color, nothing overwhelming, the thread just a little shinier and adding texture to the overall aspect.]
no subject
It's beautiful, Lyall. Simply perfect.
no subject
The handkerchief is in the same shade of blue.
no subject
[He holds out his hand to ask to be handed the cravat.]

D - Iskaulit
[ Kirk has chosen coffee over tea, which at this point of the night might not be the best choice for trying to get to sleep, but then getting to sleep was never the point for him. He was tired of fighting with the coffee maker on the Tourist, and so had ended up here, and the walk and change of scenery that wasn't a freezing cold planet wasn't so bad either.
Which was how he had come across Lyall, tossing the pen which he caught as it rolled off the table, placing it back down gently. ]
no subject
I do believe I'd rather be writing a dissertation, Captain. At least, I would know where to start.
no subject
[ Kirk settles himself across the table from Lyall, glancing down at the papers briefly and back up to the werewolf. ]
What are you trying to write? Maybe I can help.
no subject
[Fore several reasons, but the main one being...]
I just don't have the creativity for anything poetic. No werewolf does. Because of that loss of excess soul when we get turned we unfortunately do not get to be great practicioners of the fine arts. Sort of ironic when you know a lot of us are before being turned, and it is precisely because we are good at it that we have excess soul to allow us to survive the bite.
no subject
[ Kirk pursed his lips, thinking for a moment. ]
Well, let's not think of it like a poem or something artistic. Let's think of it a little bit like a dissertation. Why don't you start with just writing down all the things you love about Biffy? Don't worry about flowery language or how it sounds, just - get it down on the paper. Just start there.
no subject
[Because here is a lot he could say... as a wolf. Without words. So many things that do not require verbalization between them. And as the older of the two, this is definitely what Lyall is more used to and more comfortable with.]
But maybe if I try this way, something will come.
[Then, the other part of the problem will be, are those things he would be comfortable saying out loud in public?]
no subject
[ Kirk tapped his finger against the rim of his glass, continuing to ponder this most unusual of problems. Not every day a werewolf gets married, and while Kirk is not totally sold on this idea of "excess soul", but even without that, some people just weren't good at expressing themselves in what one might consider artistic ways. Even Kirk had a bit of trouble there. ]
Let's try this - say the things you like about Biffy aloud to me. If they sound right to you, put them down, and I can help you massage some of the language after if you like. Just a little. We want this be in your voice, after all. That's what will really matter, at the end of the day. That it's coming from you.
no subject
[Not how you would normally describe an Alpha werewolf, but theirs has been an unusual pack since Biffy took charge.]
And he's powerful, but he doesn't use that power to bring others down, but to raise them up.
no subject
Okay, that’s a good start. Anything else? I don’t think Biffy will mind this short and sweet, but I can bet that he’ll want a bit more than three things. Can you describe how he makes you feel?
[ Siiiiip. ]
And don’t worry about language or anything, just say it the best you can and get it out.
no subject
[If Channing were here, he would be gagging and telling Lyall to wipe that gross look off his face. But truly, for Lyall, Biffy has been a saving grace in many ways. For the pack, but also for himself.]
Like we can face anything if we're together.
no subject
[ Kirk's smile widened, but it remained soft and warm, rather pleased too. ]
There. That's the kind of stuff for a vow. Can you give me a few more?
[ Short and sweet, but it would need just a touch more than four, maybe, he thought. But this was good. Very good. ]
no subject
This would be so much easier as wolves, to be honest. I really am no good at this kind of thing.
