002 In Which Vampires are Silly
Who: Akeldama and you!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Planet side and Iskaulit
When: throughout December
Iskaulit library - actually more in late Novembershh
[What was Lord Akeldama to do with himself when he didn't have the life he normally lived at home? No drones, no going out to the see the latest show at the theater. None of it. So he had headed to the library. True, he typically only read what appeared in the gossip rags now-a-days, but that didn't mean he was incapable of a good book.
Well... that's if he could find a good book...
Curiosity had compelled him to look at one of the books on Earth history, but he clearly hadn't gotten very far, sitting there, drumming his nails against the table as he stared at one section]
Planet side - shopping!
[At the first possible opportunity, Lord Akeldama was shopping! He was sadly lacking in clothes and he wanted so much to be able to burn those horrid jumpsuits that had been given to him. They were a travesty against all things fashion after all.
So he could easily be found in the formal section of a clothing store browsing different options that fit his taste... in as many colors as he could possibly afford. He didn't like not having funds to just do whatever he wanted.
He had also found a fabric store while he was there, browsing quietly. Not like he could do anything with it after all. An unfortunate side effect of metamorphosis, no more creativity.
That was until he had happened to find a blue paisley fabric. It was exactly his style!]
This would make the most perfect waistcoat! A shame though...
Open Broadcast
[Of course here is Lord Akeldama and he has to make this a post. Why? Because he's showing off in a way. So he'd seen all of this about "ugly Christmas sweaters" which why would someone do that to themselves. But he had found something else and he was playing this off as if it is completely normal.
So Lord Akeldama is dressed in dark brown trousers, a sage green jacket, a rose gold cravat, and this vest as if it were a waistcoat. Nothing odd to see here, just a vampire in an ugly Christmas vest...]
This truly is a remarkable place. It has been so long since I've had the chance to visit a city such as this.
So what have been your favorite things to do here? I would like to know what all I have missed thus far.

[Luckily, she was hanging around with Katie for a while, so she at least understands the terminology for seasons relating to earth.]
Being in space must have a different effect on your rest schedule. How do you account for it then?
no subject
It does, darling. I did turn to my darling friend who has been here longer for advice. I was attempting to follow what would be a normal day-night schedule as set by the ship's clock, but it was difficult. I think having been on a planet with periods of day light will help.
[Problem vampires literally becoming dead to the world when the sun was up: if there was no sun to start the cycle, the body wasn't quite sure what it was doing]
no subject
You are lucky to have those from whom you can seek advice on such things already here. One would hope whatever schedule you are able to establish here will last, once the ships resume their travels.
no subject
So, starling, can you tell me who you are buying for?
no subject
I seem to have found myself with a list, for a holiday I have never celebrated. But if I must hear about Candlenights, I will not leave our ship wanting for... some token.
[And very certain other individuals.]
... Although, perhaps you might make this easier for me and simply tell me what you would like.
[That might be a joke. Or it might be serious. However he takes that.]

[He chuckles at her comment about what to get him]
My darling, I'm really not so difficult. Handkerchiefs, fans, assorted fashion accessories.
[So helpful... but also not. Such is the way of Lord Akeldama]
no subject
You find... value in such things? Or does it not matter so much what it is beyond the thought of a gift, itself.
[Which... didn't exactly make it easier, but.]
no subject
Also we have really not known each other so long so I would appreciate the thought of it.

[And if she sees something, or if he makes more of a reaction toward certain things, she can keep note of that for later.]
Our Captain likes... sweets, but something appropriate to present it in would be... needed. I am less certain of what would be appropriate for our Engineer, though he is also a Lord of some kind. Our chef is... Taako.
[She can't help but frown at that. Taako all right. It was all his fault that she was in this predicament, clearly. Mostly.]
no subject
Yes, like a decorative tin or some nice paper would be fabulous for a gift of sweets. I know he does not desire the position, but since he is the captain, the tin would be more suitable.
Hmm... for a lord... tea if he enjoys it or other treat would not be inappropriate.
Oh, and the chef is easy. Something bright and colorful that could possibly be used in the kitchen.
no subject
[She listens to the other suggestions. Food... was really not up her alley. She wouldn't even know how to choose tea. She still feels less certain now, about Tyrion. Even if there's a lingering thought about him that she has though she's not certain how to express it. Browsing it was.
--Ah. Back to Taako.
... Again with objects that she wasn't familiar with.]
He wanted me to knit oven gloves for him, but I do not have that skill. [Well, for Lup, but it was the only thing she could think of when it came to the kitchen.]
What else would be... suitable? [She realizes, that she's asking someone who probably does not spend much time in a kitchen for other reasons.]
no subject
[She could always ask him for advice on tea. He could also try to find out from the lord in question what he liked in casual conversation. He knew how to set up situations to get information. He's been doing it for a long time.
And she is definitely asking about things of which he is not so familiar. As a lord himself who also is a vampire - thus not requiring mortal food - he rarely had the need to go into his own kitchen. He did from time to time because of needing to speak to the cook]
Hmm... I suspect you would be able to purchase those. There are also some colorful dish towels I have seen around. He might like one of those.
no subject
[In a way, he's helping her think through the process verbally. It helps to hear other opinions, and gently propel her way toward her own decisions that way.]
Purchasing them would be cheating. [Hard to tell if that's a faint smirk of humor or annoyance for the story behind those oven mitts.] Something for the kitchen seems less... personal. But he does like... loud color. Loud... things. Perhaps it would not be too difficult to find something along those lines. Or even some manner of... accessory.
no subject
Very true, it would be cheating though it is possible. Perhaps, but if it is something for him to specifically use in the kitchen, that is possibly different. He is really the main person to use the kitchen with any consistency aside from dining. Well, if he likes loud accessories, it could be a scarf, a hat, jewelry if he so desires it, or something of the like.
no subject
[Too many choices. Perhaps he would be happy with just ... anything from those ideas. It wasn't as if she hadn't seen what sorts of accessories had caught his attention before. What mattered was the thought of it.]
But it helps to be... aware of such things.
no subject
Though, I would say, if you see something and you just know he’d love it, then he likely will. Normally, I do spend quite of sometime with gifts, but there have been times where I knew someone would simply adore it.
no subject
It would certainly be simpler if an item were to catch my attention in that manner, rather than my tediously searching through many options. Perhaps there is hope.
