A Werewolf Wedding

The Ceremony

[Heat has been set up for the guests at the wedding of Biffy and Lyall. After all, it’s an outdoor wedding with the snow around them. Which allows the guests to appreciate the beauty of what has been created. A beautiful archway with elegant white flowers that are tied on with blue ribbon. It’s simple but there’s a beauty in that which works for both grooms.

Shiro stands under it, ready to marry the grooms who also stand there, looking across at each other. It’s so clear they’re in love with each other. Just the way they look at each other says as much. And oh what a handsome pair they make with Biffy in a blue suit and grey cravat and Lyall in a grey suit and blue cravat. Ever the fashionable pair, even at their wedding. Perhaps especially at their wedding. And with that, Shiro begins speaking.]

We are gathered together on this day to witness and celebrate the marriage of Randolph and Sandalio.

There's a lot to be said about joining two lives in the union of marriage - but these two men right here have committed to each other in a way a human like me will never fully comprehend but still can watch with the most admiring respect. The past months, I've watched you be each other's support, strength and best friend; to be alpha and beta in a perfect combination of roles that reflects who you are, but also simply two people that came together and found each other through the endless passing of immortal time.

Papers and words will never make justice to what you've been through and achieved together, and yet I'm extremely joyful that this ceremony is being celebrated. We come together not to mark the start of a marriage, but to strengthen one that already exists. Your relationship is yours and only yours, but at the same time, you want the world to acknowledge it, to share it with other important people, to be able to shout "yes, we're together!". It's the greatest honor to be able to give you that. And I'm sure that after seven or eight centuries together back on Earth, you'll be ready to do it again when the world finally understands it. Because yes, you'll still be together by then.

[Hand gesture to indicate both of them.]

It's time for the the grooms to exchange vows.

[Lyall turns towards Biffy, taking both of his hands in his and looking up at him. He’s had a hard time coming up with words he was happy with, but he’s rather happy with what he ended up putting together.]

Many things happened to lead us here. Some of them were unexpected. Many of them were sad. I worried about you for a long time, and I know you too were worried about yourself and finding your path on this road you never wanted to tread. I tried to guide your way through it as well as I could, and before I even noticed, you were the one walking ahead and opening the path for me.

I've always known you to be kind, loyal and dedicated. I've seen how powerful you are, and how you use that power to raise other people around you and not bring them down. You saw me at my lowest and yet you stayed by my side, shed tears for me when I couldn't do it myself, and made me feel safe, and warm and protected even when I believed I would never know such a feeling again.

I know I will not always be what you want me to be. I might not always agree, and I might be stubborn but I will always strive to be the man you believe I can be, because with you I am more than myself.

[Biffy smiles throughout and then laughs softly before touching Lyall’s face. It’s his turn now.]

There was a time in my life where I was lost. I was unsure of where I was going or what would become of me. During that time I was lost to darkness I thought I would remain trapped in for eternity. Until a warm glow guided me out of it.

You complete me in a way no one else ever has. I feel whole when I am with you. The world is clear and I know I can do anything when you are with me. For me it is more than just the tether I share with you but rather the feelings that we share. Sometimes I feel that words could never fully express exactly how happy you make me feel each and every day that we share together.

You are more than my Beta, Professor Randolph Lyall. You are my mate, my rock, my missing piece. I love you more than words will ever hope to express. So it is on this day I am honored to marry my greatest treasure and the only gift I could ever ask for on Christmas.

[Lyall thought he was done with blushing whenever Biffy speaks about him… apparently not so, even though it is less spectacular than it used to be. He still lowers his eyes for a second, swallowing around the lump in his throat before he looks back up. And with that, Shiro speaks again.]

May we have the rings, please? [Procyon prances up and Biffy grins at the dog as he takes the rings from him, giving one to Lyall.] Sandalio, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Randolph in marriage? [He murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring on Lyall’s finger.] Randolph, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Sandalio in marriage? [He also murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring onto Biffy’s finger.] And so now by the power vested in me, it is my honor and delight to declare you husband and husband. You may seal this declaration with a kiss. Congratulations.

[The kiss they share is brief but so full of the love they share for each other. And with that, they are now married. It’s time to celebrate them.]

The Reception

[The reception for the werewolf wedding is something to behold. You don't have to worry though, it's indoors. That means it's plenty warm for the beautifully decorated space. All of which is in blue and silver as per the wedding colors decided by the grooms (aka this was Biffy's idea). There is plenty of time for mingling now and either delivering gifts to the gift table or visiting with the grooms.

Should wish to there is a dance floor with music selections approved of by the grooms (again...Biffy) for the evening. But don't worry, they've been good enough to allow for selections that aren't strictly classic to allow for people of other eras to have their fun too. So break a leg on the dance floor and show everyone what a good time there is to be had there. Especially if you've had a few drinks.

After all, there is alcohol here. And it's free. But try not to get too full on it. Because Taako and Lup have provided a twelve course menu for supper. The food is sure to be something you'll be talking about for ages to come. Please do enjoy every last morsel of it. You are sure to leave full and very satisfied by the time the sun rises. (This is a wedding held entirely at night so hope you're ready to party into the morning!)

So relax and enjoy yourselves. But don't be surprised if at some point the grooms vanish during the evening only to reappear and spend the rest of the night mingling as wolves. You are at a werewolf wedding, you know.]

Lance | Open!

[Contrary to what might be popular belief, Lance doesn't cry at every wedding he goes to.

He just cries at most. And this one definitely more than falls into "most". He watches the ceremony with awe, holding Keith's hand in a near deathgrip, and they're not even done with the vows when he feels tears slipping down his face. When Shiro pronounces Biffy and Lyall husband and husband, no one cheers and applauds as loudly as Lance does.

Lance needs to take a few minutes to compose himself after the ceremony and before the reception starts. Making sure he looks as perfect as he can and his face is splotch-free, the paladin makes his way back to the others.

Organizing this wedding had been hard work, but it's paid off spectacularly. Lance flits about during the reception in his dark blue suit, making sure everything is going according to plan. Social as ever, he interacts with anyone and everyone. Whether it be dancing, drinking, eating, taking some pictures of his own, or whatever else, he barely stays still. It's clear he's absolutely soaking up the energy and vibes of this all.

Feel free to approach him, if he hasn't approached you first.]

[tempredmental]

[At one point during the reception, Keith managed to slip away from Lance. He'd been purposefully whining about the grip on his hand through the entire ceremony, complaining that it hurt, and now he'd gotten an idea. He went over to the bar, and got some ice in a small bag, then went back to their table. He sat down, and waited for Lance to start heading back over to the table before he put the ice on his hand like it hurt.

Deathgrip, huh? He was probably going to get in trouble for this, but it would be worth it.]

[the_tailor]

[Lance had kind of ignored most of the whining. He couldn't help getting so emotional, alright? And of course he needed to hold Keith's hand! It was as wedding!

When Lance returns from saying hello to someone, his gaze zeroes in on the ice on Keith's hand, and he rushes over.]

Babe, what--what happened???

[tempredmental]

[Keith did his best to school his features into a scowl.]

Your deathgrip, is what. I told you it hurt.

[the_tailor]

...Oh.

[He gives an awkward, semi-apologetic smile.]

C'mon, it wasn't that bad, was it?

[tempredmental]

[That smile... ugh... Keith rested his chin on his other hand, trying not to smile. It was hard.]

Bad enough.

[Very hard not to smile. He tried to cover his mouth a bit so it wouldn't show as much.]

Aw, Keith...

[Now he's just going to flat out pout.]

Let me kiss it better?

[sandywolf]

[Sorry if you end up jumping out of your skin when Lyall approaches you, Lance, he can be very silent and well, there's music and conversation going around, but he still wanted to talk to you.]

Thank you very much for helping Biffy with the decoration, Lance. This all looks beautiful.

[Oh-- Okay, it's fine. No jumping, even if he does get a little surprised. Why do so many people have to be friggen ninjas around here?

Lance moves to face him with a bright smile.]

It's the absolute least I could do. Biffy's one of the best people in my life now, and to be able to do this for the two of you was an honor. I'm so glad it all came out so well.

[sandywolf]

It's exactly what Biffy wanted.

[It's not much surprise that the whole decoration, and in fact most of the organizing felt to Biffy. Lyall was on board with having the ceremony, but he is a much older werewolf than Biffy is and to him, being mates is much more important than any human custom. But because it was important to Biffy, it was important to him to. So he may not have actively participated in this aspect of the thing, but he knows Lance heard about his input and requests from Biffy anyway, and it all came out beautifully in the end.]

You have a good eye for these things. No wonder Biffy enjoys doing it with you. I think he's been a bit starved for anyone to do this with, at least until Lord Akeldama arrived.

Yeah, I've gathered that much over the months. And thank you. I really like organizing celebrations and decorating like this, even though I haven't gotten to do them in a while before we came here. And when I did back home, I was still little and helping my mom and older siblings and stuff do it, so this is the first big job I've done as Lance the Wedding Planner.

[Maybe Lance has missed his true calling?]

You're happy with it too, yeah? Not just Biffy. I wanted to do my best to make it so both of the groomsmen would be satisfied.

[sandywolf]

It's perfect, Lance.

[Really, there's not need to worry.]

I hope my being a bit hands-off on this didn't put you off. It's just that I am rather much older than Biffy is, and to me, being mates is a much stronger commitment than anything else, not to mention this kind of ceremony would be impossible where we are from.

I do understand the appeal, though, and it was... I loved it.

[He's certainly relieved that Lyall though it was perfect too.]

Nah, it's fine! Even some normal aged humans don't place a huge emphasis on marriage, it's more about the relationship. And considering your age, and the whole werewolf thing... It's cool, it really is. But I'm so happy you loved it anyway.

[dandyofawolf]

[At one point the grooms vanished from the reception. Now that they're back they're wolves. They could change back and get dressed again by why do that when everyone is here to love them just as they are? They're werewolves. This is part of their nature.

So he's a little damp from a run in the snow but it's definitely Biffy as he comes trotting through the crowd to come up and hop into a chair next to where Lance is sitting. A little chuff and he nods.

Hello. He's happy to see you again, Lance.]

[Doggo!

Lance grins, immediately recognizing the wolf because of course he does by now. He doesn't mind the dampness, instead leaning in and giving him a big ol' hug.]

Went for a run outside with the new hubby, huh?

[dandyofawolf]

[He gives another chuffing noise and then gently bites a cup to move it closer before having a wolf sip of tea. Delicious. Then he looks thoroughly proud of himself.

Well honestly he just looks happy. This is his wedding after all!]

[the_tailor]

[It's all he can do to not just kind of melt a little at the sight, alright. Wolf body or not, of course Biffy still loves his tea, and it's just cute, okay. So sue him.]

Everything turned out so amazing, thank god. I was seriously crying when you two were saying your vows.

[dandyofawolf]

[Biffy looks like he's smiling even though his face obviously can't do that right now. And he lifts his head up and just preens. He's already thanked Lance for the help but he still can't help but to agree again that it went well.

But then he reaches over to nose his hand before jumping down from the chair.

Come this way. This way, Lance.]

[the_tailor]

[It only takes him a moment to realize that Biffy's trying to lead him somewhere. With a nod, Lance gets up from his chair, brushing some of the wrinkles from sitting down out of his suit.]

Alrighty, buddy, lead the way.

[padadin]

[When Lance is taking a selfie, Shiro decided to photobomb, putting his hands on his friend's shoulders and smiling for the camera, head above. Hooray for that height difference.]

Good job with the organization, buddy.

[the_tailor]

[He gives a snort of laughter at seeing Shiro in the viewfinder.]

Thanks, man. I wasn't going to stop at anything to make this perfect.

[padadin]

Agreed, actually. I wanted it to be perfect too. [After the picture is taken, he looks around them, taking in the scene.] I wish they could take home this memory with them.

[the_tailor]

Yeah... But that's why our time here is precious.

[There's a flicker of something in Lance's eyes--sadness? Longing? But he squashes the feeling down.]

Besides, one day, they'll get to do this back on Earth. Once the world grows the heck up enough to accept them.

[padadin]

[Shiro notices that - how can he not? And he knows exactly what this is about. He knows how Lance feels - maybe it isn't as big for him as it is for Lance and Keith, but he gets it. He remembers Lunafreya. He remembers Kate. He fears for Ulaz every day.

He gets it.]

It really is. So let's make the best out of it together, mmh? [He puts his arm around Lance's shoulder for a playful half hug. I'm here for you, it's meant to remind him.] I don't doubt they will, which is why I included it on my speech. They'll get there some day.

[the_tailor]

[Lance nods and leans into that half hug, taking a deep breath and smiling again.]

Definitely, yeah. Everything's gonna be okay.
