The Ceremony

[Heat has been set up for the guests at the wedding of Biffy and Lyall. After all, it’s an outdoor wedding with the snow around them. Which allows the guests to appreciate the beauty of what has been created. A beautiful archway with elegant white flowers that are tied on with blue ribbon. It’s simple but there’s a beauty in that which works for both grooms.

Shiro stands under it, ready to marry the grooms who also stand there, looking across at each other. It’s so clear they’re in love with each other. Just the way they look at each other says as much. And oh what a handsome pair they make with Biffy in a blue suit and grey cravat and Lyall in a grey suit and blue cravat. Ever the fashionable pair, even at their wedding. Perhaps especially at their wedding. And with that, Shiro begins speaking.]

We are gathered together on this day to witness and celebrate the marriage of Randolph and Sandalio.

There's a lot to be said about joining two lives in the union of marriage - but these two men right here have committed to each other in a way a human like me will never fully comprehend but still can watch with the most admiring respect. The past months, I've watched you be each other's support, strength and best friend; to be alpha and beta in a perfect combination of roles that reflects who you are, but also simply two people that came together and found each other through the endless passing of immortal time.

Papers and words will never make justice to what you've been through and achieved together, and yet I'm extremely joyful that this ceremony is being celebrated. We come together not to mark the start of a marriage, but to strengthen one that already exists. Your relationship is yours and only yours, but at the same time, you want the world to acknowledge it, to share it with other important people, to be able to shout "yes, we're together!". It's the greatest honor to be able to give you that. And I'm sure that after seven or eight centuries together back on Earth, you'll be ready to do it again when the world finally understands it. Because yes, you'll still be together by then.

[Hand gesture to indicate both of them.]

It's time for the the grooms to exchange vows.

[Lyall turns towards Biffy, taking both of his hands in his and looking up at him. He’s had a hard time coming up with words he was happy with, but he’s rather happy with what he ended up putting together.]

Many things happened to lead us here. Some of them were unexpected. Many of them were sad. I worried about you for a long time, and I know you too were worried about yourself and finding your path on this road you never wanted to tread. I tried to guide your way through it as well as I could, and before I even noticed, you were the one walking ahead and opening the path for me.

I've always known you to be kind, loyal and dedicated. I've seen how powerful you are, and how you use that power to raise other people around you and not bring them down. You saw me at my lowest and yet you stayed by my side, shed tears for me when I couldn't do it myself, and made me feel safe, and warm and protected even when I believed I would never know such a feeling again.

I know I will not always be what you want me to be. I might not always agree, and I might be stubborn but I will always strive to be the man you believe I can be, because with you I am more than myself.

[Biffy smiles throughout and then laughs softly before touching Lyall’s face. It’s his turn now.]

There was a time in my life where I was lost. I was unsure of where I was going or what would become of me. During that time I was lost to darkness I thought I would remain trapped in for eternity. Until a warm glow guided me out of it.

You complete me in a way no one else ever has. I feel whole when I am with you. The world is clear and I know I can do anything when you are with me. For me it is more than just the tether I share with you but rather the feelings that we share. Sometimes I feel that words could never fully express exactly how happy you make me feel each and every day that we share together.

You are more than my Beta, Professor Randolph Lyall. You are my mate, my rock, my missing piece. I love you more than words will ever hope to express. So it is on this day I am honored to marry my greatest treasure and the only gift I could ever ask for on Christmas.

[Lyall thought he was done with blushing whenever Biffy speaks about him… apparently not so, even though it is less spectacular than it used to be. He still lowers his eyes for a second, swallowing around the lump in his throat before he looks back up. And with that, Shiro speaks again.]

May we have the rings, please? [Procyon prances up and Biffy grins at the dog as he takes the rings from him, giving one to Lyall.] Sandalio, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Randolph in marriage? [He murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring on Lyall’s finger.] Randolph, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Sandalio in marriage? [He also murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring onto Biffy’s finger.] And so now by the power vested in me, it is my honor and delight to declare you husband and husband. You may seal this declaration with a kiss. Congratulations.

[The kiss they share is brief but so full of the love they share for each other. And with that, they are now married. It’s time to celebrate them.]

The Reception

[The reception for the werewolf wedding is something to behold. You don't have to worry though, it's indoors. That means it's plenty warm for the beautifully decorated space. All of which is in blue and silver as per the wedding colors decided by the grooms (aka this was Biffy's idea). There is plenty of time for mingling now and either delivering gifts to the gift table or visiting with the grooms.

Should wish to there is a dance floor with music selections approved of by the grooms (again...Biffy) for the evening. But don't worry, they've been good enough to allow for selections that aren't strictly classic to allow for people of other eras to have their fun too. So break a leg on the dance floor and show everyone what a good time there is to be had there. Especially if you've had a few drinks.

After all, there is alcohol here. And it's free. But try not to get too full on it. Because Taako and Lup have provided a twelve course menu for supper. The food is sure to be something you'll be talking about for ages to come. Please do enjoy every last morsel of it. You are sure to leave full and very satisfied by the time the sun rises. (This is a wedding held entirely at night so hope you're ready to party into the morning!)

So relax and enjoy yourselves. But don't be surprised if at some point the grooms vanish during the evening only to reappear and spend the rest of the night mingling as wolves. You are at a werewolf wedding, you know.]

[Lord Akeldama may not have the senses of a werewolf, but his are certainly strong enough to notice he is being watched. Subtly he'd watched the one watching him as well, taking note of his clothing and interesting hair style - and lack of shoes. The clothing reminded him of what he heard of for Asian cultures, not that could have gone to see them himself.

As he finally approaches, Lord Akeldama turns to face him with a smile]

Good evening, my darling. Goodness that is a long name. I am Lord Akeldama. I do like that phrase - my brightness. It works very well I think. Of course we can talk. Would you prefer to sit?

It is the name that I was given by one who held me and what history knows me as now. And yes. Let us sit together.

[He smiles at him as he moves to an empty chair so that way he can take it. He quite likes this Akeldama already. He has a vibrant personality that he is rather enjoying.]

There are not many with a personality that shines as bright as their clothes. It is impressive, Akeldama-san.

[Lord Akeldama followed him over to the chair with all of his normal flourish, sitting down in an adjacent chair so that they would be able to talk. He caught the comment of "what history knows me as", but he will come back to that in a moment]

Well, thank you. I do try. I do try. I like to stand out and make myself known. No fun to sit around in the shadows. Don't you agree?

It can be fun to do that as well. Many will share such stories when they feel no one is there to watch them tell them.

[Well, he may not know he’s providing Lord Akeldama with information. He’s very good at sneaking it out of others. What he does with it after that may be nothing more than hoarding it, but he has it for if it becomes necessary]

[He knows he’s not a vampire. He would have been set instantly on edge by that. Even ones not from their world gave him territorial instincts though not to the normal degree. And he’s not a werewolf; he doesn’t have the right characteristics. So what was he?]

Much. I appear as a youth for my name is that of little crow. However, I am over two thousand years now, I believe.

[He lifts a finger to his chin to consider. Sometimes it's easy to forget how old he is. But that seems correct.]

Two thousand? My goodness. You certainly don’t look your age. But if it is not too rude to ask, what are you? You do not have the characteristics of a werewolf and I do not pick up “vampire” from you.

I am a tsukumogami, an object which has gained a soul after one hundred years of use. My body is that of a weapon. That which you see here is the manifestation of my soul.

Tsu-ku-mo-ga-mi. [He is sounding out to himself to make sure he’s saying that right] So you are a weapon that has gained a soul? How simply marvelous! We vampires have to give up soul to gain immortality, but you are able to gain it! I have never heard of this before.

It is a common myth in Japan. However, you will rarely find many modern objects as tsukumogami since they very rarely are even able to be used for one hundred years before they are thrown away.

Well, you see, darling, in our world we have found it is those with excess soul who can survive the grueling transformation into either vampire or werewolf. Most of those with excess seem to be those with creativity – artists, musicians, actors. Those that survive metamorphosis lose the ability to do such things.

[His eyes widen and he tilts his head to the side. He has a guess that he feels will be correct.]

So you then partake in creativity in other ways then. Much like your colorful attire.

Precisely. See, I've always liked to stand out, be the center of attention. It is my nature. In this modern world where vampires set the fashion trends, I can't possibly look like all the rest. Besides, I did so love this fashion trend. It was when men truly got to wear sparkly things and I never have quite left it.

This father is not familiar with this trend. Though this father is also not so familiar with many trends of the Western world.

[He laughs gently.]

What is this style called?

As I am not familiar with trends in the Eastern world. I have been told of some, but I have never seen them for myself.

That would be the Rococo time period. Still dignified, but less solemn. It will always be my favorite.

Rococo? What a funny sounding name. I like the way it sounds!

[He laughs softly.]

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you much about the modern fashions of the Eastern world but I could teach you of the ancient ones if you would be willing to tell me more about the fashions you know.

It is French in origin from more than 100 years ago. A humorous take on the word for shell since there are lots of curves in the art style.

Oh, darling, I would positively love to hear about any styles, modern or ancient, and I will teach you mine in return!

I'm pleased we can have such an exchange. I have been wanting to learn more of other cultures and this will be a good chance. And to share my own is always an honor.

Exactly, my dear petal. Vampires are simply the fashion icons of our world. While my entire style may never come back, it does keep so many fine young men from dressing like they are attending a funeral.
