A Werewolf Wedding

The Ceremony

[Heat has been set up for the guests at the wedding of Biffy and Lyall. After all, it’s an outdoor wedding with the snow around them. Which allows the guests to appreciate the beauty of what has been created. A beautiful archway with elegant white flowers that are tied on with blue ribbon. It’s simple but there’s a beauty in that which works for both grooms.

Shiro stands under it, ready to marry the grooms who also stand there, looking across at each other. It’s so clear they’re in love with each other. Just the way they look at each other says as much. And oh what a handsome pair they make with Biffy in a blue suit and grey cravat and Lyall in a grey suit and blue cravat. Ever the fashionable pair, even at their wedding. Perhaps especially at their wedding. And with that, Shiro begins speaking.]

We are gathered together on this day to witness and celebrate the marriage of Randolph and Sandalio.

There's a lot to be said about joining two lives in the union of marriage - but these two men right here have committed to each other in a way a human like me will never fully comprehend but still can watch with the most admiring respect. The past months, I've watched you be each other's support, strength and best friend; to be alpha and beta in a perfect combination of roles that reflects who you are, but also simply two people that came together and found each other through the endless passing of immortal time.

Papers and words will never make justice to what you've been through and achieved together, and yet I'm extremely joyful that this ceremony is being celebrated. We come together not to mark the start of a marriage, but to strengthen one that already exists. Your relationship is yours and only yours, but at the same time, you want the world to acknowledge it, to share it with other important people, to be able to shout "yes, we're together!". It's the greatest honor to be able to give you that. And I'm sure that after seven or eight centuries together back on Earth, you'll be ready to do it again when the world finally understands it. Because yes, you'll still be together by then.

[Hand gesture to indicate both of them.]

It's time for the the grooms to exchange vows.

[Lyall turns towards Biffy, taking both of his hands in his and looking up at him. He’s had a hard time coming up with words he was happy with, but he’s rather happy with what he ended up putting together.]

Many things happened to lead us here. Some of them were unexpected. Many of them were sad. I worried about you for a long time, and I know you too were worried about yourself and finding your path on this road you never wanted to tread. I tried to guide your way through it as well as I could, and before I even noticed, you were the one walking ahead and opening the path for me.

I've always known you to be kind, loyal and dedicated. I've seen how powerful you are, and how you use that power to raise other people around you and not bring them down. You saw me at my lowest and yet you stayed by my side, shed tears for me when I couldn't do it myself, and made me feel safe, and warm and protected even when I believed I would never know such a feeling again.

I know I will not always be what you want me to be. I might not always agree, and I might be stubborn but I will always strive to be the man you believe I can be, because with you I am more than myself.

[Biffy smiles throughout and then laughs softly before touching Lyall’s face. It’s his turn now.]

There was a time in my life where I was lost. I was unsure of where I was going or what would become of me. During that time I was lost to darkness I thought I would remain trapped in for eternity. Until a warm glow guided me out of it.

You complete me in a way no one else ever has. I feel whole when I am with you. The world is clear and I know I can do anything when you are with me. For me it is more than just the tether I share with you but rather the feelings that we share. Sometimes I feel that words could never fully express exactly how happy you make me feel each and every day that we share together.

You are more than my Beta, Professor Randolph Lyall. You are my mate, my rock, my missing piece. I love you more than words will ever hope to express. So it is on this day I am honored to marry my greatest treasure and the only gift I could ever ask for on Christmas.

[Lyall thought he was done with blushing whenever Biffy speaks about him… apparently not so, even though it is less spectacular than it used to be. He still lowers his eyes for a second, swallowing around the lump in his throat before he looks back up. And with that, Shiro speaks again.]

May we have the rings, please? [Procyon prances up and Biffy grins at the dog as he takes the rings from him, giving one to Lyall.] Sandalio, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Randolph in marriage? [He murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring on Lyall’s finger.] Randolph, do you come here freely and without reservation to give yourself to Sandalio in marriage? [He also murmurs his confirmation and slides the ring onto Biffy’s finger.] And so now by the power vested in me, it is my honor and delight to declare you husband and husband. You may seal this declaration with a kiss. Congratulations.

[The kiss they share is brief but so full of the love they share for each other. And with that, they are now married. It’s time to celebrate them.]

The Reception

[The reception for the werewolf wedding is something to behold. You don't have to worry though, it's indoors. That means it's plenty warm for the beautifully decorated space. All of which is in blue and silver as per the wedding colors decided by the grooms (aka this was Biffy's idea). There is plenty of time for mingling now and either delivering gifts to the gift table or visiting with the grooms.

Should wish to there is a dance floor with music selections approved of by the grooms (again...Biffy) for the evening. But don't worry, they've been good enough to allow for selections that aren't strictly classic to allow for people of other eras to have their fun too. So break a leg on the dance floor and show everyone what a good time there is to be had there. Especially if you've had a few drinks.

After all, there is alcohol here. And it's free. But try not to get too full on it. Because Taako and Lup have provided a twelve course menu for supper. The food is sure to be something you'll be talking about for ages to come. Please do enjoy every last morsel of it. You are sure to leave full and very satisfied by the time the sun rises. (This is a wedding held entirely at night so hope you're ready to party into the morning!)

So relax and enjoy yourselves. But don't be surprised if at some point the grooms vanish during the evening only to reappear and spend the rest of the night mingling as wolves. You are at a werewolf wedding, you know.]

That so? [Well, not completely. It did happen often enough back home, but the two seemed a bit more dedicated to one another than some of the one month engagements or something that see back home. And hey, if it felt right, why not?] Friends before, I assume.

It's actually far more complicated than that. A story that will take some time but I am willing to tell it if you have a few minutes.

That sounds like a call for a drink to tell such a story over if ever 've heard one.

If you have a moment then I wouldn't be opposed.

For ya, I have several. [A warm smile in place before a motion towards the tables.] What be ya poison? [Hey, he may not be working the event, but seems rude to make one of the grooms get his own drink. It's the least Remy can do.]

Surprise me. I'm curious to see what you might come up with. In the meantime I will fetch us a more private table. [So they can converse properly, of course.]

[cajunspice]

[Wait, what? Why do people keep doing this to him? Sure, he works at the Bar, but he had originally been hired to cook, not bar tend. Also, it was more common for Biffy to serve Remy drinks, with his visits to the salon. So, tea was a safe choice, right? But hardly fitting for the event.

Also... is there stuff a werewolf can't have? Not that Remy's planning to grab him chocolate or anything (or was that just a dog thing?) but he really, really didn't want to give Biffy food poisoning on his wedding night.

Hopefully champagne would be a safe choice. It seemed appropriate, considering the event. Eyeing up where Biffy had stepped off too, Remy made his way over, but felt the need to check before he took a seat.] I hope this ok for ya.

Of course. Actually everything here should be safe for myself and for Lyall. The ones providing the food were very good to make sure there was nothing we couldn't consume.

[He gladly takes the champagne and lifts for a little toast before having himself a sip.]

Now, I have to warn you that this tale is not going to be all happy and it will go back more than twenty years.

[Biffy doesn't even look old enough for a story involving him to be over twenty years old.]

[Matching the gesture of the toast after he seated himself, Remy took his own sip of his drink as he got comfortable in his seat.] Ahh, think that sums up all relationships to some degree or 'nother. More so the sad parts, less so the twenty years. [Maybe to someone else the 'young but old' thing would be strange or freaky, but less so for Remy. Firstly, he's a mutant, from a world with mutants, merde got weird with the x-gene. Second, his family was sitting on a 'fountain of youth', they had Guild members who were well over a hundred years old but looked like they were in their thirties. It wasn't normal for his world, but for the Thieves it was.

Also, the whole werewolf. And who knows how the hell that worked?]

It begins with the fact that I was once a drone to a vampire. One that I was deeply fond of. A drone is something along the lines of a loyal subject. Human but in contract with the vampire until that drone becomes a vampire, dies, or the contract ends. It is also important to note that vampire and werewolf quite famously do not get along.

[All important information to lead into this tale. He will leave out names presently since said vampire is actually at his wedding.]

[Remy looks like he's accepting that rather easily. Not because of the whole mutant thing, but because even home had vampires. Hell, maybe even werewolves, but Remy knew about vampires for a fact. He was from New Orleans, it had a long history of vampires in their past and he had been warned more than once to be on the look out for them.

Things got weird in the Big Easy.] Sounds like something media got right 'bout it all then.

There is a truce created by the Crown to ensure that peace is maintained between the two factions. So that our modern society may flourish. Well, I knew Lyall because the pack had interactions with my former master now and then. I was even able to help deal with some business that needed to attend to. We were almost more friendly acquaintances really. Not even really friends. There was peace between everyone.

[He sighs a little now.]

Matters took a turn when I was kidnapped.

[cajunspice]

[And he also knew about factions, or Guilds, and that fake layer of pretence that everything was fine on the surface... while plotting to kill each other behind the scenes.

Fun times...] Does tend to go that way, don't it?

[dandyofawolf]

Lyall and his Alpha at the time rescued me. Sadly, there was a fight and I was gravely injured in the process. There was only one way to save me and that was for his Alpha to turn me into a werewolf. By doing so though, I could never be with my former master ever again. I was pack now.

During this time I struggled a great deal with my new life. It was one I'd never wanted but one I had to lead now. He was there for me often when he could be to help me so I wouldn't be alone. He was there as well when I learned for the first time that I am an Alpha.

[cajunspice]

That... be real rough, mon ami. [Having his life turned upside down over it all, being in the middle of a fight which really wasn't his own. It all caused Remy to give a shake of his head before instinctively trying to make the whole thing lighter.]

Sounds like worked out real well in the end though, considerin' what we doin' today 'nd all.

[dandyofawolf]

It did in the end. Though, circumstances led to us being parted for twenty years. We were only recently reunited before I was pulled to the Fleet.

[cajunspice]

Good to hear, 'nd glad to hear the Fleet been good to ya both. [Also... just how hold are you even? Twenty years? Unless they were kids when they first met, which raised a whole bunch of other questions before the whole werewolf thing, that meant there was some serious slow aging processes going on here.] Though always had to wonder how bein' in space works out for werewolves, especially with us passin' by so many moons from all the planets.

[dandyofawolf]

Actually we have a rather consistent cycle. Based on the calculations we've made our cycle is based on the Earth moon in the year...ah the year will change soon but...2018.

[It's taken a lot of work for them to figure this out but they have it down now.]

[cajunspice]

[...there were jokes in there, but none Remy was willing to touch right now, especially not at a wedding, so he suppressed his smirk and let it show as a smile instead.] Good plannin'. Though gotta say, just seems to bring up a whole bunch of questions, like if it had to be Earth's moon that triggered it or 'ny would do.

But never sure if those be polite to ask. Be kinda like ones I get as a mutant I guess, all depends just what bein' asked.

[dandyofawolf]

[He laughs softly.]

I assure you that you aren't being rude. In truth I would really rather clarify matters than have to deal with someone continuing to assume falsehoods about my kind. Though, I'm afraid I cannot tell you if it's the Earth's moon specifically that triggers it or not. After all, it seems it's the Earth's moon and yet also the Earth's moon in a completely different time period than my own. I'm also no scientist so I rather lack knowledge in this area aside from being able to do what I can for my pack during the full moon.

[Now he smiles at the man.]

Please though. If you have more questions I'd like to answer them. And if you prefer not to have questions asked about your kind in return then I will honor that.

Guess not really something ya'll wanna to experimentin' with all too much, or at least without some precautions. Good to know limits, just maybe not with others 'round. [Maybe not polite to insinuate that Biffy and Lyall could lose control or anything... but it was too late now.

Remy then dismissed Biffy's own concerns with a huff of a laugh and a shake of his head, taking a sip from his drink.] Cheri, ya welcome to ask whatever 'nd whenever ya want. Don't mean I will answer it all, but welcome to ask.

[dandyofawolf]

No, my friend. If there are things at all that you will not answer then I will not ask things until I know what is permitted. To stumble upon something in such a manner would be only graceless fumbling and I confess to have too much pride to do such a thing.

[And that is all there is to it. One doesn't play a game without knowing the rules and that applies to this situation here.]

So we will simply settle for satisfying your curiosity and I will satisfy my own when you are ready to establish the ground rules of what territory I can stray into.

[cajunspice]

[There was another laugh, almost a hiss out from between his teeth as Remy smiled, casting a happy glance Biffy's way.] Ya a man of 'nother time. [It was meant as a compliment, and while Remy doesn't immediately expand on it, he hoped Biffy took it as one.]

The thing be, to set down those rules gotta kinda go 'nto topics don't wanna talk 'bout. [Remy was getting better at opening up, was trusting others more to not hurt him, but there was still a lot of his past he wasn't ready to talk about, stuff he wasn't proud about. Maybe one day he would get there, but it certainly wasn't today.] How 'bout we start with this, ya always welcome to ask questions 'bout mutants 'nd powers, that ain't a problem.

Indeed I am. [He winks at him and those blue eyes of his show that he's not offended at all. He's definitely taking it as a compliment.]

'nd I shall update that list of allowed topics as I think of more to come. After all, a good hairdresser does require proper gossip topics to work with. [A chuckle towards the wink.] Not like we really in 'ny major rush though, or hope not at least. I got no plans on leavin' the Fleet 'nytime soon.
