Okay, as it turns out... it's really hard to get in contact with people when you don't have their names or their ships or their numbers. But—I'm trying this responsibility thing and I want to give those powers back. The ones I had to borrow last week? But I can't find any of you! Good job. Bunch of winners here.

[She's heard about this, but--still, it would answer some questions.]

[ He sounds very... careful when he answers. ]

[That would be one of the other questions running through her mind, since her talk with Allen.]

[ He cuts off. Breathes. ]

[She's quiet for a moment. Then--]

Let's meet by the dome. That's where you saw me, wasn't it? It had to have been.

Right. That's where it was.

[ He pauses, reaches for the communicator. ]

[ Click. ]

[Shirley arrives at the dome shortly, looking around for--Adra? Not anyone she's seen for long before, but then that makes sense given the situation.]

[ It's Adra who is already there. He doesn't feel like swapping to something else she might or might not recognize. This will do. He looks awkward, bit like his hand has been caught in the cookie jar. ]

[Shirley's...pretty calm. Not overly friendly, but if Aaron's expecting any anger there isn't much of that either. She doesn't really know what to expect right now, so she's got a bit of her diplomat face on.]

Would you like to proceed now?

[ He doesn't really know what to do with the reaction. No obvious anger, no upset. He was ready to desperately defend himself or otherwise try to convince both of them that he needed to do what he did. He stops up short, then shrugs. ]

Yeah, I can... Yeah, okay.

[ That's all he says. Removing the power from himself is easy, even if it feels like he left a window open and now there's a draft where things were finally settled beforehand, and the power rests in his hand. ]

[So that's what it looks like...and she missed that before? Goodness, she's got to pay better attention in the future. Shirley nods, leaving the admonishment for later contemplation.]

[ He's... wary about touching her again. All of this is instilling—not shame or consequence but some kind of reverence for the power that gave him enough clarity of thought to ask for more powers when he needed it. There's uncertainty lurking on the edges, not sure where he'll go from here.

After a moment, he simply raises his hand and flattens his palm to press the power to her forehead. There's some force in the movement but if Shirley holds against it, the power returns easily. ]

There. I'll go?

[Getting her eres back feels like a surge of strength - Shirley thinks it's different from the first time she came into her powers, but that also involved joining with Nerifes so maybe it's not the most apt of comparisons. She's distracted for a moment by that feeling, before Aaron's words catch up to her.]

Wait! I wanted to ask you something.

[ That stops him up. He had actually begun to literally fade away before he snaps back into clarity. ]

[That's...also something. Stay focused, Shirley!]

Why didn't you just ask me about my eres, when you asked everyone else? You said you were going crazy, but I don't understand.

[ He frowns, squares his shoulders. He's preparing for yelling, for a fight. ]

If I don't take in powers, it's like... my body starts eating itself or something. I can't think, it hurts, things stop making sense. That's powers withdrawal. So I just... when I saw your powers, I just took them. Then it started easing up enough that I realized I could try asking.

[ He looks away. Explaining addiction to something he can't control is never comfortable. ]

You can't ask back home. That's just a one-way ticket to a dealer compound.

[That sounds pretty horrible, actually. Shirley can't imagine what that's like, and it's partially out of respect that she leaves it at that.]

I see...thank you. I hope it doesn't get so bad again.

I'm not going to wait that long again.

[ Which... doesn't bode too well for the Fleet after this little mishap, but maybe he'll handle it better next time. ]

Do you still have others who are willing to lend you their power?

[Allen seemed pretty mad when he brought up this person, so Shirley fears she may have made things a little worse.]

One. Maybe. Who knows, maybe word will get around.

[ He'll take Steffa's offer for now, but he isn't holding his breath that this won't be necessary all over again. ]

That's a start. If you get that desperate again...I might be willing to lend you my power again, if it's really that bad. And if you ask.

[She sounds a little unsure about it - but she's forgiving, not a saint.]

Your power was weird. I could hardly get the hang of it.

[ Elemental manipulation is definitely not part of his own set. It's... foreign. Given time he would pick it up, but it's never going to feel right. ]

[She's not really sure what to make of the comment about her powers. Does he mean her eres are different from what he's used to, or is it because she's the Merines? It's not important enough to ask about, but she does wonder.]
