[Victor is thrilled with the gift James gave him. Just as he's sure James loved all the camera equipment Victor got for him. Knowing very little about cameras, he just got a lot of different models and film types, thinking James can experiment with the medium. As for the other Jim, Victor had sent over some drawings he made. It does help that he knows what the crew of the Enterprise looks like, so he could do lots of drawings of them for Jim.

Since this is a new year and all, Victor is going to kick it off doing something he normally wouldn't do: perform in public. James got him a violin-type instrument that he's been eager to play. Why not do it in front of an audience? So he plays a song, letting a few beats of silence pass after he's done before speaking]

About a year ago, I arrived in a place called Riverview. I was bitter and lonely, and back then only wanted to focus on my work. But over the course of the year I built up friendships and met people I grew to love. I feel so lucky that one of those people is here with me now, and agreed to marry me.

I'm interested in seeing what this year will bring me.

"James"? [Keith looked amused.] He lets you call him that?

I didn't ask permission; I just did it from the moment we met.

And he never corrected it, huh? He just doesn't seem the "James" type.

I mean, I could be biased from the one that's been here a while compared to the one that just arrived from Riverview...

He isn't, which is why my saying it is special.

[Keith had to think about that for a second.]

Wait... are you his fiancé?

Yeah. [He touches his ring, which has a design like a stethoscope] We haven't settled on a date yet, but there's no rush.

[Keith smiled a bit. He's seen that expression on someone before.]

It's good you found each other, then. And that the world hopping thing hasn't pulled you apart.

We're very lucky, I know. Of course, a lot of our friends and family aren't here, but we're together. That's still something.

It is. And, maybe you'll see them again in the future. Hard to say in these kinds of places.

Maybe so. I guess we'll wait and see.

All we can do, right? Maybe you guys will find a nice planet along the way to get hitched. The werewolves on the Blameless did that.

Kirk told me about them. I gave him a few tips on what to get them for wedding presents.

And I'm sure we'll find the perfect place for us.

[Keith nodded.]

I hope so. It sounds like a nice thing to think about.

So, Keith, have you known the other Kirk very long?

Well, he was here already when I got here. It's really only been recently that we've been talking more, though. So, I guess not all that long. Maybe a year or so that we've been really getting to know each other.

Sounds like long enough for you to form a solid impression on him.

Probably. He seems like a pretty cool guy. My boyfriend actually hangs out with him more than I do. A lot, in fact. They're pretty good friends.

He is very cool. And he's very sociable, so I imagine he's made friends with lots of people in the Fleet. My James won't take long before he does the same.

Probably not. He seems like he's pretty sociable, too, like the Jim here.

You guys are doing okay being here? I know the whole "dumped in a new world" thing isn't all that unfamiliar for you.

Oh, yeah. Between him traveling across the galaxy and me going between worlds, this isn't that strange to us.

So you've traveled between worlds a lot before?

I wouldn't say a lot. But counting this one, I've been to five worlds.

That's more than me. [He smirked.]

More than most people, I'd imagine.
