[Victor is thrilled with the gift James gave him. Just as he's sure James loved all the camera equipment Victor got for him. Knowing very little about cameras, he just got a lot of different models and film types, thinking James can experiment with the medium. As for the other Jim, Victor had sent over some drawings he made. It does help that he knows what the crew of the Enterprise looks like, so he could do lots of drawings of them for Jim.

Since this is a new year and all, Victor is going to kick it off doing something he normally wouldn't do: perform in public. James got him a violin-type instrument that he's been eager to play. Why not do it in front of an audience? So he plays a song, letting a few beats of silence pass after he's done before speaking]

About a year ago, I arrived in a place called Riverview. I was bitter and lonely, and back then only wanted to focus on my work. But over the course of the year I built up friendships and met people I grew to love. I feel so lucky that one of those people is here with me now, and agreed to marry me.

I'm interested in seeing what this year will bring me.

[ Jim walks in about halfway through the music, lingering in a more or less hidden spot while waiting for Victor to finish. There's a small, warm smile as he finishes the broadcast with a few words, and finally, once that's wrapped up, he walks up to him, wrapping his arms around Victor's neck from behind, leaning in to kiss him just behind his ear. ]

I feel so lucky, too. [ He nuzzles against Victor's neck, pulling back so Victor can turn around to face him. ] And glad to see you like your gift.

[jolting]

[He turns, offering James a glowing smile. He does smile a lot more than when they met, but looks like these are reserved only for his handsome fiance]

I did. How about you? Did I buy enough camera equipment?

[He probably bought too much, but going overboard is something they're both guilty of doing]

[ He cups Victor's face in his hands, slotting himself perfectly between Victor's legs and leaning down to kiss his lips. ]

Enough? Are you kidding? It's gonna take me a while to even go through it all. But I did start on a few pictures, already.

[jolting]

I wanted to give you options. [He kisses back, squeezing James gently] Hm, well, the nice thing about a winter planet is I'll be able to appreciate the color scheme.

[winscenario]

[ Jim laughs, shaking his head. ] Amazing. I mean, you are right.

[ He tugs on Victor's collar with a soft smile. ] It's nearly our birthdays. You know what I was thinking? We could do something special to celebrate it.

So, you were in Riverview, too? Kirk mentioned it. Well, the newer one.

[Keith smiled a bit.]

He said I was there, too, but I guess it was a different version of me. I'm Keith.

[jolting]

I'm sure we met. James was the more sociable one.

Of course I am. [What is humility]

Oh. I think I'd like that. It's been so long since I celebrated, whatever you want to do will be special enough.

It's always good to have people you're close to in a place like this, especially since you were somewhere else together.

[ He pauses for a beat. ] The song you played was nice.

[jolting]

I don't know what i would've done if he didn't arrive here. [Probably mope and then turn into a hermit]

Thanks. It's a traditional song they play for the new year.

It's good that you have him, then. People are important.

I can't remember the last time I heard it, but the melody is familiar at least. They used to play it in movies and on the broadcasts of the ball dropping in New York.

[jolting]

I heard about that ball drop. Never had a chance to watch it, though. We don't really do much for New Year's in Storybrooke.

I only ever saw it on television when I could stay up that late. Dunno if that really counts.

I've never heard of Storybrooke. What's it like?

[jolting]

It's a small town in Maine. We're surrounded by the forest and we're right next to the sea. I know almost everyone living there-- there are some newer residents that have shown up lately.

It's a nice place. Just not big on certain holidays.

That sounds cool. I like small communities. I've never been to Maine.

[jolting]

I like it well enough. Though... I haven't been anywhere else in the country, so my perception may be skewed.

No? Not even for a vacation or anything?

[jolting]

No. You know how some of these worlds don't let you leave? Storybrooke is like that, too.

[tempredmental]

"James"? [Keith looked amused.] He lets you call him that?

Oh, wow. Well, it's not the same as exploring your own country, but you'll be able to see lots of different planets, at least?

[jolting]

I didn't ask permission; I just did it from the moment we met.
