[Victor is thrilled with the gift James gave him. Just as he's sure James loved all the camera equipment Victor got for him. Knowing very little about cameras, he just got a lot of different models and film types, thinking James can experiment with the medium. As for the other Jim, Victor had sent over some drawings he made. It does help that he knows what the crew of the Enterprise looks like, so he could do lots of drawings of them for Jim.

Since this is a new year and all, Victor is going to kick it off doing something he normally wouldn't do: perform in public. James got him a violin-type instrument that he's been eager to play. Why not do it in front of an audience? So he plays a song, letting a few beats of silence pass after he's done before speaking]

About a year ago, I arrived in a place called Riverview. I was bitter and lonely, and back then only wanted to focus on my work. But over the course of the year I built up friendships and met people I grew to love. I feel so lucky that one of those people is here with me now, and agreed to marry me.

I'm interested in seeing what this year will bring me.

That's quite a start to the new year, [Remy was only really starting to get to know Victor, as it only felt right considering how much their lovable idiots were spending time with each other. Honestly, Remy thought his ego was over inflated, but it had nothing on the Kirks.] Very optimistic, not that that be a bad thing.

I had to practice optimism for a long time before it felt more natural to me. Having James around certainly helps.

Does tend to help havin' someone 'round. hein? [And Remy wasn't just referring to his Jim, but also others on the Fleet. It certainly had altered his view on life.]

Though traditionally ya normally have a goal for the future, as well as reflectin' on the past. [A bit of a chuckle and offering to go first. Kind of.] Then again, I generally don't do that, other than the normal one of 'stay alive'.

I did have goals, but that doesn't mean I was very optimistic. The only thing I had to look forward to was my science projects. Now I'm traveling the galaxy with a man I love. It's a much better situation.

[Remy supposes he can understand that, he did love his old job as a thief and did tend to get a bit of tunnel vision when planning a steal. Though he also was around good people who made sure he was dragged away from planning now and then, for stuff like interaction and food. It stopped him focusing too much.

But that wasn't really an issue on the Fleet, he got very little chance to steal like he use to. Sadly. Remy did miss it, even if he had a good number of distractions, including Jim and his work at the Bar. And, you know, being in space. Though his ego still hurt a little, worried he was losing his well practiced skills from lack of work...] Does help put stuff in perspective, don't it? Or at least 'nother angle on it all.

Exactly. And we talked a lot about traveling the galaxy together, so this particular universe is exactly what we wanted. You know, minus the television show part.

Wanted to show off the Enterprise 'nd his universe, hein? [Funny, Remy was pretty sure he and Jim had said something similar. Then again, they were mostly the same person, so was it that surprising they wanted the same thing?]

Well, bar the whole show thing, however real it really be, not a bad place to end up then. For the most. Some places have been a little hair raisin', 'nd not in a good way, but for the most, it's hard to be too angry at this all. Like bein' on holiday all year 'round.

I have seen the helm, but it was a hologram.

Hmm. I've been through some strange things in my time already. I think I can handle whatever happens here.

That so? Donno how would do it, but would like to see it one day. [Yeah, sure, Remy had 'seen' it in a Calibration... but he doesn't tend to remember his dreams, so, yeah, that memory was lost.]

I can guess ya have. [Don't think Remy doesn't recognize your name, Victor. He's read the book. Also, this isn't his first show either. Well, it was, Luceti wasn't a TV show like the Fleet was. But he's been there before, and stuff got weird there, so Remy can only imagine what Victor and Kirk had been through.] Kinda comes with the territory of this all, hein? Seems aliens don't like borin'.

[Hey, he knows he's infamous! But he doesn't expect everyone to recognize him or his story thanks to all the different worlds they come from]

[There was a long moment of pause as Remy considered that and... yeah, ok, that was depressing to think about.] ... ya put it that way 'nd 'm thinkin' we better off with the aliens than humans usin' other humans, 'nd others, to 'entertain' themselves. [Or maybe he was just being overly pessimistic about it all. Then again, Remy came from a world were humans were starting to learn just what mutants were and creating machines and who know what to capture and experiment on them.

Also, he's worked for his own 'mad scientist' before and knows how bad it got for mutants who got too much attention...]

Eh. From what I understand, people purposefully go on those reality shows. You get famous and you get money. That's what we're doing here, except we didn't audition first.

[Ok, yes, that's a more positive way to think.

Remy chuckled.] Ah yeah, those. Yeah, people like their fifteen minutes of fame, even if they don't win a prize. 'nd be sure some of them wouldn't even mind what we got, even with the theory of bein' watched all the time.

'nd I would ask where our prizes be, but we do get a wage, 'nd I have had weird sponsor drops before. Those be a real gamble.
