[ the feed turns on and you're not sure why. all is quiet on the ship front. there doesn't seem to be much activity on the first breath, even this late. all is silent. until you hear a crackle. suddenly ice speeds its way over the walls, ceilings and floors of the ship, instantly freezing everything along its path. everything is coated in silvery, sharp ice, cold to the touch.

and for a moment, a shrill scream echoes throughout the ship before going quiet with the feed. ]

( much later: video )

[ loki turns the feed on. he looks queasy and ready to drop off right then and there, but he clears his throat, coughing as it hurts. ]

My apologies. It seems I lost control of my magic. I will immediately see to any repairs. But perhaps people coming by should mind their step in the meantime.

[ he looks like he has more to say, but he ducks his head, turning off the feed. ]

[That makes her smile, small and subtle, and she brushes a hand through her hair; the idleness makes her antsy.]

Brothers, right? Nothing but trouble.

[The significance isn't lost on her- the importance of such an act of necessity, of sacrifice. She gets it. She's died for Taako, before. She'd do it again in a heartbeat. To hear Loki shares that sentiment is a surprise only because she doesn't know him that well.

Sometimes family is just like that.]

[ loki huffs. he's quite sure he's the troubled one, from start to finish. he still can't shake off the feeling that he should have died somewhere else, alone and saved everyone the heartache. but even he wouldn't voice that out loud. ]

He's always been a tad hopeless.

Mm... but he made it, he survived. Call me biased but if it were me, I wouldn't hesitate or regret. Guess we've got that in common, too.

[She's gotten the impression that Thor would do it for Loki, too. As they are now, Taako isn't like that, but... that's fine. It just means he's safer.]

[ he did. thor survived whatever thanos had done. every single world may burn out but loki didn't care. thanos didn't render his death meaningless. ]

I have very little to regret, either way.

That's a good way to live. Regrets are stupid, who needs 'em?

[ loki huffs, soft. ]

I certainly do not. Not that I have many.

Mm, good. Sooooo... what happened? I can't imagine it's easy to off a god.

[It's a shot in the dark - it's one thing to tell someone you died, and another thing to go into detail about it - but she can't not ask. There are a few reasons why that info would be relevant to know, both personally and tactically speaking.]

It is not. Technically, this is my third time.

[ it's hard not to touch his throat. he can still feel the sting, but there's a layer of un-realness to it. ]

[She smiles- not unkindly, not exactly humourless, either.]

Hey, high-five for havin' a deathcount? Though you're a lot better at not-dying than some people I know.

[She notes the non-answer and does not pry. It's his call to make.]

As I said. I like to survive out of spite.

[ talking about thanos though is a bit too much. thanos who had been the boogeyman in loki's dreams for so long. putting into words was too intense at this time. ]

[necromanswers]

Well, good. I think we like having you around.

[She points to his mug.]

I should let you rest, though, if not at least rest your throat. You look like you could sleep for about twelve years and still need a nap. You done, want me to take that back?

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki nods, handing it over. ]

Thank you. I should . . . rest. This will heal quickly enough.

Hey, no rush, if your body needs the time. You're at least in a safe enough place now.

[She takes the mug and heads for the door, waving casually over her shoulder. Hopefully some rest and quiet will ease worries over time, though she's already thinking she ought to send Thor back to his room when they finish talking later. It feels wrong to leave Loki alone in this state, but she's not really the person who ought to be here with him long-term. The comfort level just isn't there.]

[ loki wonders about that. certainly, they're safe from thanos, but how long will that hold? if loki is sent back, does he simply . . . die? but he nods, shelving those depressing thoughts. ]
