[ the feed turns on and you're not sure why. all is quiet on the ship front. there doesn't seem to be much activity on the first breath, even this late. all is silent. until you hear a crackle. suddenly ice speeds its way over the walls, ceilings and floors of the ship, instantly freezing everything along its path. everything is coated in silvery, sharp ice, cold to the touch.

and for a moment, a shrill scream echoes throughout the ship before going quiet with the feed. ]

( much later: video )

[ loki turns the feed on. he looks queasy and ready to drop off right then and there, but he clears his throat, coughing as it hurts. ]

My apologies. It seems I lost control of my magic. I will immediately see to any repairs. But perhaps people coming by should mind their step in the meantime.

[ he looks like he has more to say, but he ducks his head, turning off the feed. ]

[ Taako was recovering, and he had visitors often enough that Haggar did not need to consistently monitor him. She had gone to her private retreat on the Iskaulit, for some--contemplation.

But something felt... wrong. A restlessness, from being away from the ship. Despite the late hour, she heads back, only to be greeted with the now frozen interior. Not much of a process of elimination there to attribute the cause to. She sees the roomba, frozen. The other robot might be as well. She could deal with them--later.

She warps herself over to the rooms, and hears voices from the cabins. People were able to talk so things were--not great, but in a state of being handled.

Before she can consider whether to interrupt, she thinks, Kova. She'd never hear the end of it if something had happened to her cat and she didn't look for him.

Luckily, the cat search-and-retrieval does not take long, as he had escaped the frost by hopping from surface to surface in the opposite of the-floor-is-lava. He was cold and miserable though, and Haggar carefully gathers him up, before warping herself outside of the rooms. It was quieter now, but there's nothing to keep her from knocking on Loki's door. ]

[ it seems like he will be inundated with people checking up on him. which is fair, considering the damage loki has wrought upon the ship, but he's never been comfortable with too much interaction. parties, getaways are fine, but something like this makes him want to never wake up again.

loki does, regardless, swaying on his feet. ]

... I understand you need rest, so I'll not ask what happened immediately.

[The cat shifts in her arms. She is not accustomed to carrying him, but with the state of the floors, it couldn't be helped.]

However, I have brought you ... company. Do you require any medication?

[ loki would reach out to kova if he wasn't paralyzed inside, knowing everything he has touched, he has utterly ruined. even harder to push such a thing down so it doesn't strangle his voice any more. ]

There is no medicine that can help, unfortunately. I only need rest.

[ Rest would only help the physical problem, even if medicine could not alleviate that in any way. ]

[ wow insulting, he wouldn't fall down. ]

[ loki is repeating himself. he is too tired to do much else otherwise. ]

[Sorry Loki, blame it on her having to "scold" Taako for exacerbating his healing process. She's not used to being in this position.]

[ loki purses his lips but retreats to sit on his bed. the bruises stand out, even in the dark. ]

I am a God. It'll heal quickly.

[Once he sits, she sets down the cat, who immediately goes to leap up by Loki's side.]

There are wounds that being a God will not heal you from quickly.

[ loki watches kova briefly, still not comfortable at reaching out. ]

[ The cat sits next to him, for the moment not seeking his attention. Companionable. ]

[ She gives half a shrug to his reaction. ]

If even you do not believe that, you will find it difficult to convince others.

[ he's not really expecting anyone to bother with him. ]

[ loki bristles, despite his exhaustion. ]

[ Her head lowers, respectfully. ]

In your time of need as a leader, you possess a crew that you can delegate to, according to your desires. I have no intention to overstep my bounds.

[ well now he feels bad for snapping at her. loki is simply loathe to give up what he has. he can't afford to lose anything. his lips thin, annoyed at himself. ]

[ She nods. She can tell he's on edge, and does need to rest, so she doesn't want to push any further right now. ]

... Kova will stay, if you find that acceptable.

[ To keep him company and guard his rest. ]

[ loki nods slowly. ]

[ The cat gently nudges Loki with his head, a gentle reminder of his presence.

And yet, Haggar... hesitates, instead of leaving. ]

[ for a second, it looks like loki might reach out and pet kova but his hand freezes mid-way and he tugs it to his chest, breathing heavily. his body shakes. he looks up when he notices haggar is still there. ]

You don't need to stay.

... I am aware that as your officer my presence is no longer required.

[ And yet she could only observe the way he could not approach the cat, feeling less inclined to leave because of it. ]

[ There's a pause, but then her expression... softens. They'd talked about it recently, true, but she was still unused to the consideration. Even if it was why she had paused. ]

Then, perhaps as someone who is -- concerned, would you... accept company.
