[ the feed turns on and you're not sure why. all is quiet on the ship front. there doesn't seem to be much activity on the first breath, even this late. all is silent. until you hear a crackle. suddenly ice speeds its way over the walls, ceilings and floors of the ship, instantly freezing everything along its path. everything is coated in silvery, sharp ice, cold to the touch.

and for a moment, a shrill scream echoes throughout the ship before going quiet with the feed. ]

( much later: video )

[ loki turns the feed on. he looks queasy and ready to drop off right then and there, but he clears his throat, coughing as it hurts. ]

My apologies. It seems I lost control of my magic. I will immediately see to any repairs. But perhaps people coming by should mind their step in the meantime.

[ he looks like he has more to say, but he ducks his head, turning off the feed. ]

[ what is this kind of faith? even thor no longer has it, though in thor's defense, he's suffered the worst of loki's impulses and betrayals. finally he nods, accepting that. ]

[ This isn't to say that Jim thinks Loki isn't capable of some dubious decisions, but he is confident that he wouldn't do anything to consciously hurt him. And some people might not put stock in good intentions, but Jim does, and he's known Loki for long enough to believe in him. ]

Don't mention it. That's what friends are for. [ He smiles, resting a hand on Loki's arm and squeezing lightly. ] And... to listen, if you ever wanna talk.

I'm afraid my discussions right now are rather depressing. An old nightmare came to revisit his promise upon me. He made me suffer. He was always good at that.

[ but loki is . . . working on letting it go. it hurts to lose, it always does, but this was also his victory. it helps to hold that thought in place. ]

I never said our conversations had to be happy and cheerful. Whatever it is you want or need to talk about, happy, sad, depressing. Doesn't matter. I'm here.

[ Then again Jim has his own ghosts and he'll understand if there are things Loki would rather keep to himself. He just wants him to know he does have people here who'd be willing to just be there and listen if he ever felt like venting. ]
