action and video.
Who: Thor + you
Broadcast: yes, video
Action: First Breath and Blue Fish
When: January 3rd - 4th
closed to Natasha.
[It takes some time for Thor to calm down enough from the shock of his memories to even think about what to do next. He had effectively chosen one thing of importance - Loki - and firmly shoved everything else to the side for hours. To take stock of the rest of it, look his own glaring mistakes in the face, was too much for him at the outset. But Thor isn't selfish at heart. There's only so long he can take focusing on himself before his mind turns to others.
He has to review what he knows from those last shattering moments on Earth with a grim objectivity before he gets in touch with the others. Once he does, it's easy enough to put together some of the pieces from his conversations with Natasha and know she's the one to call.
Not call exactly, but text.]
Can you meet me in the Space Bar?
[He briefly considers saying something else, bracing her for what he wants. There's no way he can think of to put that into text, though, so he doesn't. Once it's sent, he heads over to the Iskaulit to wait.]
action - first breath.
[Thor hadn't exactly been subtle when he came hurtling through the First Breath the night before, running straight through the ship in full battle armor before shutting himself in Loki's room. And that's where he stayed for a long time.
He does eventually come out though, rubbing tiredly at his face and heading into the kitchen. Thor's been here enough times to know where everything is. After a few moments of staring blankly at the countertops and cupboards, unreality threatening to unmoor him, he shakes himself and smacks the coffee pot onto the stove.
He'll be there for a while, drinking coffee at the bench and gazing vaguely at some fixed point on the wall. Still in full cape and mail sleeves. The bone-deep exhaustion in his face might have something to do with it.]
action - blue fish.
[Thor returns to his own ship during the day, knowing abstractly that the Fleet is due to depart this world soon. In the past he would prepare for this, restocking the food supplies and ensuring everything in the armory was locked back into place and accounted for. That was when the ship had more crew, and he hadn't yet become captain. Still, it needed to be done. Regardless of how unworthy he feels when he enters his own bedroom and sees the captain's bed in there.
Thor can be found stacking up crates in the cargo bay, checking through the fridges and freezers, and doing systems checks. Later on, he opts to sit on the top of the ship, watching the snow fall in silence.]
video.
[It's not the sudden reappearance of the short, jagged hair Thor used to sport or the incongruous brown eye where his eyepatch usually is that most dominates Thor's face when the video switches on. It's the weariness etched in hard lines all over him. There's no mistaking it, regardless of his otherwise composed demeanour. He merely nods at the camera before he starts, gruffer than usual.]
For those who knew her, Riona Cousland Theirin has left the Fleet. She was here for over three years, so I know she will be missed by many of us.
[There's a pause as though he might say more, but decides against it.]
The captaincy of the Blue Fish has fallen to me in her place. If you have any questions about that, you can bring them to me. [Thor shuts his eyes briefly, shaking his head.] Or... anything else.
[No doubt there might be some. He switches off the feed.]

[What a completely normal thing to say.]
no subject
Did he pull it out of his hat?
[Honestly, it's not the weirdest thing she's ever heard, but it's pretty out there.]
no subject
His utility belt, but close enough.
no subject
So what happened, then? ...Loki?
no subject
He sets the mug back down, putting his mind back to the present.]
Yeah ... you've seen him, then?
no subject
Not yet- I was just on my way there, actually. But a big rush of ice magic freezing the whole ship? It isn't that hard to put the puzzle together.
no subject
No, it isn't. But I am sure he could use the company right now.
no subject
Mm... that sounds ominous, but sure, I'll drop by. Maybe do a bit of defrosting, too- I'd hate for anyone to get sick or whack their head on all this ice.
[Herself included, please and thank you. Though she could just fly herself around, technically.]
no subject
I nearly fell on it myself when I came over here.
no subject
That'd be a hell of a sight. I'd better start with the floor, huh?
no subject
[Thor scrapes one of his boots backwards across the ice, frowning at the sensation. It's already been a while and it hasn't melted.]
I've never seen him do this before.
no subject
[She's not clear on whether or not a) Thor knows about the casket he got, or b) Loki wants to keep that shit under wraps. ]
no subject
[Loki dealt in illusions and subterfuge. With the Casket he could presumably do something like this, but he would need to have it out to use it. Thor hadn't seen it in Loki's room when he entered earlier, so he can only assume this was a reaction borne of emotion.]
But this isn't a usual day.
no subject
[She pauses, oddly tentative, and then-]
What happened?
no subject
Shifting his shoulders slightly, his lips set into a grim line.]
We both of us received memories from home. Things... have not gone well there.
no subject
[She's sort of... tangentially aware of that sort of thing, but she hasn't experienced it yet, so she's not super positive on what exactly it entails. Apparently it entails showing up looking a bit like trashed.]
You wanna talk about it?
no subject
[He honestly just sounds tired. Like he hasn't slept in a week. Thor stares at Lup helplessly for a long moment at the question, not even sure how to respond. Where would he even start? More to the point, where would he end?
Opening his mouth to say something, he pauses and changes his mind.]
You were on your way to see Loki, weren't you? I don't want to keep you from that.
[Thor had left Loki alone for the moment, wary of overstaying his welcome. Even then he would prefer someone was in there talking to him.]
no subject
Instead of pushing for details she merely smiles, lifting two fingers to her forehead in a salute.]
Sure, sure. Tell you what- you need to sleep way more than you need that coffee. Go have yourself a shower and a nap in the lounge or something, get some energy in those bones! Let me worry about Loki for a little bit, maybe clean up the ice, and I'll come find you later.
no subject
Yeah - yeah, okay. [Despite agreeing, he slams the last of that coffee down before standing up. He blinks as he turns over his hand, eyes catching on his wristguard and-- right. The armour.] I should get changed so I'll be on the Blue Fish for a while.
[He tamps down on his nerves as he says it. It's stupid to think anything will happen to Loki in the half hour it will take Thor to go back to his own ship. Stupid. As he nods to Lup and walks out of the kitchen, he can't help but feel the unease anyway.]

[She takes her leave and as he'd said, she goes to visit Loki, brings him tea, has a little chat and gets some insight as to why things are... the way they are. It sure explains a lot, mostly the ice and Thor's behaviour. She knows how miserable she'd been during the years when her brother was dead, even if it was only temporary. It doesn't make you miss them or want to protect them any less than before.
She finishes with Loki much sooner than the time it'd take for Thor's Blue Fish venture, so she keeps herself occupied by doing what she'd promised to do, namely skate her way down the halls and carving a path through the ice on the floor. The walls still have a sporadic, patchy layer of cold, everything is a bit soggy, and the melted and evaporated water has given the whole place a steamy atmosphere, but at least it's safe to walk through by the time she's done. She only has so many spell slots, and Fire Shield only hits five feet beyond her body and some areas are simply beyond her reach. The cargo bay is gonna have to thaw on its own.
Once that's done she'll be back in the kitchen, getting some food ready. Taako's still mostly stuck in bed, and he'd pushed himself to check on Loki earlier as well, so someone has to make sure that everyone gets properly fed around here.]
no subject
Being here again and knowing that future wasn't possible the way he'd hoped extinguishes some of his energy once more.
It's closer to an hour after he first left when he steps back onto the First Breath, almost skidding again on the ice. The damn stuff is more slippery than before. Thor realises why once he makes his way into the corridors proper: Lup's been busy. He presses a palm to the wall (not the changing one, he doesn't have the heart to see what it shows him) and feels the chill still embedded in the metal. That same chill probably resides in Loki's bones.
Thor pops back around the door to the kitchen not long after that, drawn by the noise of Lup's cooking. The shower didn't wipe the devastation out of his face, but at least out of the armour and into a hoodie and jeans he doesn't look quite so much like he's about to die on his feet like some legendary warrior.]
You're cooking?
no subject
Sure. Someone's gotta keep this place fed while Taako's still in stitches. I'm not about to go all-out the way he did, but I can stave off starvation a bit.
[She lifts a hand, displaying several slices of potatoes as one might show off a set of playing cards; on the counter in front of her is a pan mostly-filled with more potatoes, and there's a scent of sweetly-spiced meat coming from the oven.]
You hungry?
no subject
A little.
[Glancing down the corridor, Thor moves into the kitchen proper and sinks down onto one of the bench seats.]
Is he doing any better? Taako?
no subject
[He sounds a bit more like himself, at least, and she'll take that. She can't blame him, either- it is taking a long time. Longer than either of them would like.]
Wanna help mix some stuff? You might feel better if you can keep your hands busy. At least, that's always helped me.
no subject
Thor watches Lup for a long moment, considering. Eventually he nods.]
