ACTION:
Steve has just about managed to acquaint himself with the strange, new idea that he is now in space when the next curve is thrown his way. One second he's standing in a hallway, just about to walk up and ask someone if they have any idea what he's doing here. The next, he's...on a bridge. With confetti? And are those pudding cups? What the Hell is going on? He blinks around, his first instinct to always look and see if there is some sort of fight about to happen. Hands are in fists and he really wishes his shield was somewhere around here. But he dropped that in the dirt a few months ago, so fat chance.

Steve will stand down slowly, once no one attacks him right off the bat. Sadly, he's been in this position before; in a strange place and time, not knowing why or how. His thoughts are back on Earth and with the friends he's broken out of their floating prison and now, seemingly, abandoned. Maybe there is a way out of here. Or, maybe, he's needed here more? Hopefully someone is going to be able to talk him through it all.


VIDEO:

Many hours later, Steve sends out a broadcast, finally understanding how and wanting to reach out to anyone else that might be here. Anyone else he might know.

"Uh. Hey. My name is Steve Rogers. Hopefully I'm doing this right and you can all see and hear me. I just arrived about..." He looks down at something and then scrubs a hand over his face as though in disbelief. "Two days ago. A lot got packed into those days, it seems. But I'm sure you all know how that feels."

Steve pauses, shifting a bit before getting closer to the camera, face serious. "I've met some people here so I know that what happened to me has happened to a lot of other good people. I have questions and a lot of things I want to look into. But first, I want to know who else is out there. Who else might have the same questions I do and who wants to start getting some answers."

He moves back and tries to smile. "Or who maybe just wants to talk? Anything. So, yeah. Thanks. How do I....um. Is it this butt-"

Video cuts off abruptly.

That sounds like a terrible idea.

Really? I would think that a 'terrible' idea in a strange, potentially dangerous place would be to spurn potential allies...

[Cue innocent Steve face]

[ loki is vaguely amused despite himself. ]

Astute as that is, I doubt they will be, ah, open to the idea.

[That opens up a whole lot of new questions. Steve prioritizes them but asks none]

You're doing alright with your brother and your brother is a friend and ally of ours. Bridges have been made with less.

[ loki's expression flickers, somber. ]

I . . . do not think it is a good idea. I am not much of an ally. To anyone.

[Steve shifts closer to the screen, his face taking up a large portion of it now, complete with concerned eyebrows]

I fought you, remember? You can't sell me on the lie that you're useless.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki chuckles, though there's no humour in there. ]

It has been a long time since there. Lost a world, like yourself.

[brooklyn_boy]

[Lost a world? Like him?]

What do you mean?

[dothelokimotion]

[ there's a pause as loki wonders how much he should say before finally replying. ]

Asgard was destroyed.

[brooklyn_boy]

[He's plainly horrified and too shocked to even try to conceal it]

What?

[dothelokimotion]

Destroyed. Only a handful of escaped. There's nothing left of it.

[brooklyn_boy]

Loki. I'm...so sorry to hear that. For you and Thor.

[His whole body goes cold remembering that they'd both lost a world, apparently]

Did ...the same happen to Earth?

[He can hear his pulse in his ears, afraid to know the answer.]

[ loki shakes his head. ]

Not . . . that I know of.

[ though who knows? once thanos is done with it, there may not be anything left. ]

Then what happened to Earth? You said we both... [He can't finish it. What if him being gone was the reason it all went to shit?]

[ perhaps he spoke too cryptically. ]

When you woke up, you lost the world you belonged and came into the future. Losing a world can embody many things.

[He's so plainly relieved that he immediately feels like a heel in the face of what happened to Loki]

God. What happened to me is nothing compared to what happened to you and Thor. I'm so sorry, Loki. If there's...anything I can do?

[Stupid platitude. And Steve means it but what can anyone do?]

[ loki stares a little before shaking it off. ]

No — There's nothing to be done about it now.

But the people who kidnapped us! They take us from different times. Different universes! Maybe if we find out how, we can go back and stop it!

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki frowns. not because it's a bad suggestion or offensive. loki isn't sure turning back the clock is the best idea. even if he turned back the clock on his own death . . . what would that prove? ]

Ragnarok was a prophecy. It was meant to happen. Asgard was meant to die. There are some battles that are needed to be lost in order to win.

I don't know if I have the same view on that as you, pal...

[But then he remembers his plane. Remembers the airport battle and the fight with Tony. Maybe he did have the same view]

Even if it has to die, there might be a way to save more people. Right?

[dothelokimotion]

By meddling with time? That seems like a risk.

[ and now he's worried steve would field this idea to thor. the last thing loki wants is thor turning back time to save his life. ]

Sometimes you gotta ask yourself if the risk is worth it. Could things really get worse?
