Action + Video | Captain on the bridge. Sort of...

ACTION:
Steve has just about managed to acquaint himself with the strange, new idea that he is now in space when the next curve is thrown his way. One second he's standing in a hallway, just about to walk up and ask someone if they have any idea what he's doing here. The next, he's...on a bridge. With confetti? And are those pudding cups? What the Hell is going on? He blinks around, his first instinct to always look and see if there is some sort of fight about to happen. Hands are in fists and he really wishes his shield was somewhere around here. But he dropped that in the dirt a few months ago, so fat chance.

Steve will stand down slowly, once no one attacks him right off the bat. Sadly, he's been in this position before; in a strange place and time, not knowing why or how. His thoughts are back on Earth and with the friends he's broken out of their floating prison and now, seemingly, abandoned. Maybe there is a way out of here. Or, maybe, he's needed here more? Hopefully someone is going to be able to talk him through it all.

VIDEO:

Many hours later, Steve sends out a broadcast, finally understanding how and wanting to reach out to anyone else that might be here. Anyone else he might know.

"Uh. Hey. My name is Steve Rogers. Hopefully I'm doing this right and you can all see and hear me. I just arrived about..." He looks down at something and then scrubs a hand over his face as though in disbelief. "Two days ago. A lot got packed into those days, it seems. But I'm sure you all know how that feels."

Steve pauses, shifting a bit before getting closer to the camera, face serious. "I've met some people here so I know that what happened to me has happened to a lot of other good people. I have questions and a lot of things I want to look into. But first, I want to know who else is out there. Who else might have the same questions I do and who wants to start getting some answers."

He moves back and tries to smile. "Or who maybe just wants to talk? Anything. So, yeah. Thanks. How do I....um. Is it this butt-"

Video cuts off abruptly.

That is very vague. I thought you were a public speaker, Captain.

Steve!

[The feed shows a smiling, if tired-looking Wanda. She really is happy to see him, even if There's no trace of that distant, haunted look she'd had in the Raft or any injuries.]

I've been here for a few months. What do you want to know?

[Steve never thought he'd be happy to see this guy again]

Loki! Well, yeah. Of course it's vague. Do you know who monitors all these channels?

Wanda!

[Okay, he's glad to see her but, geez. Who is left on Earth? Was everyone taken?]

I have about a dozen new ones now that I see you. But I'm glad all the same. [But...wait a minute...] You've been here a few months? I just saw you! Like a week ago?

Steve. It's been months since he left, and clearly he doesn't remember his time here before. Either that, or he's a different Steve. Either seems possible, and the technical difference doesn't make a whole lot of difference right at this moment. First Barnes, now Steve...

This is less complicated, though. Whatever the circumstances, there's a sense of relief seeing his face. It's a short list of people Natasha trusts to have her back, and Steve is near the top of it.

She opens a feed.

"Smooth entrance." Wry, but warm. Maybe a little sad. There's a lot here. "I don't have all the answers you're looking for, but... well, I might know a thing or two. I could come by to catch you up?"

[ fair enough. loki hums. then he switches to the private network — the one the Atroma cannot see. ]

This should afford us some privacy.

[Hux had been standing on the bridge when he noted the other man approaching. He had been lost in his own thoughts and seemed too at home standing there observing. While he was no longer a general as he was back home or the captain of this ship, old habits were hard to stop.

As First Mate he made it more of a routine to be on the bridge and check to see how things were operating when he wasn't doing his engineering duties.

He didn't recognize him as one of their regular members. He assumed that he was either visiting the ship or was new. Didn't they just receive a new member after all? The lost look also supported idea he was new.]

You appear lost, do you need help with anything?

[Oh. Private networks. That's good to know.]

Thanks. I've been here for about two days now so I'm still learning all of this...stuff...

[He has so many questions but now he's not sure where to start.]

How long have you been here for? I haven't seen you on Earth for awhile. Have you been here the whole time?

The Atroma can take us from different times. Sometimes they bring us here again and we don't remember the last time we were here.

[A beat; how to ease him into this before someone blurts it out...]

It's strange, being able to see myself in someone else's memories but not having my own.

[ loki squints briefly before replying. ]

Ten months, according to the calendar they use here. Thor has been here for longer.

Nat. Wanda. Loki. God, who else was here? Steve's face is an odd mix of relieved and concerned as he looks over her like the last oasis in a desert. Nat and he had each other's back. When it came down to the wire, she chose him and Bucky and had helped them both escape. Steve owes her. He owes her a Hell of a lot and now he's going to just ask for more.

hank God they were friends.

"Nat," he breathes out, almost gripping the screen with how badly he wants something to make sense here. "If anyone's gonna know something, it would be you. Yeah, come on over. I'm on the..." He can't remember so he looks around and finds something with the name. "SS Bishop. Whenever you have time. I even have some leftover pudding cups."

[Steve looked over at the man, straightening himself up as he immediately recognized the military look on someone else. Strangely enough, this was comforting to him, in its own way. He knew how to talk to command and this guy had the look of command. While he was still lost and confused, it was easy to fall in line]

I think I was just sent to this ship, sir.

[Maybe the 'sir' was overkill but this seemed like a ship of some sort. That meant there was a captain which, for once, wasn't him by default. He could make a fool of himself and err on the side of formality]

My name is Steven Rogers. From...Earth?

[He wasn't sure if 'Earth' was a forgone conclusion or not, yet. Probably not.]

Again?

[Steve's stomach goes cold at the idea he's been here before and just doesn't remember it. It's possible, isn't it?]

So...you were taken from another time. Before or after when I was taken...

[Christ]

What is the last thing you remember from Earth?

[ loki stares, his expression shuttered. finally he exhales, soft. ]

Not that we know of. We have made attempts but none that have yielded any success. I am afraid you are stuck here, Captain.

[Steve's eyes close, disheartened by that. He rubs over his face and looks down]

For now, maybe. But I refuse to accept that. What have you all attempted? Has anyone kept logs of it?

[ loki notes that quietly. ]

We have records. Attempts of the past along with others. But perhaps that is a discussion better saved for Thor and your . . . companions.

[Companions. That gets his head snapping up]

Who is here?

"Oh, pudding cups. How can I say no to that?" The food gels are... interesting. Unfortunately, there's not much they can do about it other than make the best of what they have and take advantage of systems when they stop to stock up on all the staples that aren't protein gel or solid related. "I'm on the Vanquish. I can grab a shuttle and head over."

For Steve, she can clear her schedule. Not like she had anything important on it anyway.

"There's a lot to talk about."

[ loki flicks them off his fingers. ]

The widow, the witch and the vacuum cleaner.

[ he has no idea who bucky is, so he doesn't get a mention. ]

Steve smiles fondly at her, feeling like he has an ally on their way over. They'd battled against each other not so long ago and together even longer before that. But they were friends when it matters. And now it matters. He grabs a pudding cup (or what looks like one. He only tasted one but it was pretty comparable) and waves it like incentive.

He sobers up pretty fast at the knowledge that there was A Conversation on its way. Time to suit up. Well, metaphorically speaking.

"I'll be here."

Vacuum cleaner?

[So many of his friends got grabbed. Steve can't help but wonder if there isn't some sort of reason for it. Some reason the Avengers are getting picked up. But then again, there were other people he doesn't know here. So maybe not]

[Hux offered his gloved hand to shake. While he wasn't wearing a military uniform, he stuck to dark civilian clothing and wearing gloves. It was hard for him to give up the gloves as they had always been part of his military uniform. Working in engineering he needed them more for protection.

He did note that the other had been previously or still was a soldier judging from his stance and how he responded.]

I'm known as Hux here and is the First Mate and a fellow engineer for the ship. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am not from the Earth, but I am familiar with the planet. Many that have arrived to the Fleet are from some various of that planet.

[ loki waves a flippant hand. ]
