Action + Video | Captain on the bridge. Sort of...
Who: Steve and you!
Broadcast: Video, yes: Fleetwide
Action: SS Bishop
When: Yesterday, after arrival
When: Yesterday, after arrival
ACTION:
Steve has just about managed to acquaint himself with the strange, new idea that he is now in space when the next curve is thrown his way. One second he's standing in a hallway, just about to walk up and ask someone if they have any idea what he's doing here. The next, he's...on a bridge. With confetti? And are those pudding cups? What the Hell is going on? He blinks around, his first instinct to always look and see if there is some sort of fight about to happen. Hands are in fists and he really wishes his shield was somewhere around here. But he dropped that in the dirt a few months ago, so fat chance.
Steve will stand down slowly, once no one attacks him right off the bat. Sadly, he's been in this position before; in a strange place and time, not knowing why or how. His thoughts are back on Earth and with the friends he's broken out of their floating prison and now, seemingly, abandoned. Maybe there is a way out of here. Or, maybe, he's needed here more? Hopefully someone is going to be able to talk him through it all.
VIDEO:
Many hours later, Steve sends out a broadcast, finally understanding how and wanting to reach out to anyone else that might be here. Anyone else he might know.
"Uh. Hey. My name is Steve Rogers. Hopefully I'm doing this right and you can all see and hear me. I just arrived about..." He looks down at something and then scrubs a hand over his face as though in disbelief. "Two days ago. A lot got packed into those days, it seems. But I'm sure you all know how that feels."
Steve pauses, shifting a bit before getting closer to the camera, face serious. "I've met some people here so I know that what happened to me has happened to a lot of other good people. I have questions and a lot of things I want to look into. But first, I want to know who else is out there. Who else might have the same questions I do and who wants to start getting some answers."
He moves back and tries to smile. "Or who maybe just wants to talk? Anything. So, yeah. Thanks. How do I....um. Is it this butt-"
Video cuts off abruptly.

about a week later, video;
Captain Rogers. My apologies for not contacting you earlier, but I was indisposed. Are you well?
no subject
He decides to smile, cautiously, waving a hand to dismiss the apology]
No problem. Wanda already caught up with me and came over to eat. But it is good to see you well.
I'm...settling in. Best as I can, I guess. Not like I have options, yet.
no subject
I suppose you could always deny that any of this is happening, but you always have had more sense than that.
[And, because it's what he really wants to know, he decides he might as well take the plunge.]
I suppose you've learned that people can come from different points in time? I'm from several years after a certain airport incident, if that means anything to you. And, odd though it may sound, I've spent a little over two years in this place as well.
[Translation: there's more than enough distance here that what had happened in Germany isn't his foremost concern anymore.]
no subject
Nothing about what happened at the airport was personal, Vision. I didn't fight out of hatred. It was the only way to do what I thought was right.
[Hindsight 20x20, he might make a few changes. But he knows he wouldn't turn Bucky over. That at least he's positive of. And he still doesn't regret anthing of what he did.]
I'm genuinely glad to see you. Not everyone comes here and sees familiar faces from their own universe. I'm really lucky.
And it seems so is Wanda. She seems to really like it here. Do you?
no subject
I understand. It wasn't exactly well thought-out on anyone's end, and I hope it's not too much to say that I've broken the Accords myself on a number of occasions since then. More importantly, though, there's no reason to keep to them here - no governing body, aside from our 'gracious' hosts, and only ourselves to be accountable to.
[Not that that isn't enough.]
I do. Isn't that odd? But in many ways, there's a freedom here I lack on Earth, and I've met many friends who would be good additions to the Avengers, if it were necessary to form the team here. I was captain of a ship, for a time, and I've been to many alien worlds. I'd be happy to show you some of my souvenirs, if you like.
I'm glad to see you here, as well. I hope you come to like it.
no subject
But it couldn't be all bad here. Vision and Wanda are happy. They have friends and each other. A whole life here that they'd never have had before. Steve would be heartless to not be touched by it]
I'd love to see the souvenirs. [It would at least give him an idea of what they might be up against, some day on some planet.] And I don't know if I'll like it here. But at least I have friends.
no subject
Then you're welcome to come over any time.
[He wouldn't be surprised if Steve ends up getting a bit antsy, what with no clear objective and working under the restrictions the Atroma give to them, but on the other hand - the people here really are what make it worthwhile.]
And I suspect you'll make new friends as well, if you're open to it. There are remarkable people here from many different worlds.
no subject
[It gives them an idea of the power of this Atroma. Steve understands why so few people seem to be focused on escaping. It looks impossible to stand up to someone who can pull them back from wherever they go. But Steve isn't going to give up.
He doesn't like bullies.]
I'll be sure to come over. I'm actually planning on having all of you over here for a little dinner. Catch up and share thoughts over...gel.
no subject
[And then he blinks.]
Oh, goodness, no. I've a garden here, and there are stores of preserved meat, and my kitchen at least has some other options. I've been told the gel should only be eaten as a last resort.
[...because it's not like he needs to eat, but the Vision does like making his friends' lives easier, and one of the most basic ways to do that is to help them keep fresh food.]
no subject
Don't suppose you'd have access to flour or wheat, would you? I sort of promised Loki an introduction to pizza and the kind I was making was...not the best way to showcase it.
no subject
My friend Eugene has a sourdough starter in his kitchen; I'm sure he'll be happy to help.
[And then he pauses, expression getting more serious.]
Though, to be perfectly honest, Loki--doesn't care for me. He may leave if I'm present.
no subject
Loki doesn't care for you or do you mutually not care for each other?
What happened?
no subject
[He'd like to get to know Loki better--Thor values his brother highly, and it makes the Vision curious and willing to give him a chance--but in response he touches the yellow gem in his forehead, which briefly flares in response.]
As far as I'm able to tell, it stems from a deep-seated mistrust of the Mind Stone; it's been used against him in the past. There was no specific incident aside from my existence.
no subject
Yeah. I don't know if I blame him for that. Having something control you is...a lot to get over. [Just ask Bucky]. I think maybe with some time he could learn to see you as more than just the stone. Maybe.
[Steve makes a mental note to talk to Thor about it. He'd know his brother better, after all. But either way, this should be taken care of. It is a strange world and allies were necessary, even for gods]
We'll try it out. See what happens and take it from there, if you're willing?
no subject
I'm more than happy to offer him the opportunity, if he'll take it. However, I'm afraid that's a rather large if.
[And then that smile comes back.] Either way, I can certainly provide the pizza. Do give me about a day's warning beforehand, however?
no subject
[He smiles warmly, despite the trouble still in his chest. But that will probably take awhile, if ever, to go away]
Thanks for reaching out. I'll be in touch soon, alright? It's really, really great to have you around here as support.
no subject
It's good to have you around as well, Captain. I hope to see you soon.
