[Frankly the amount of time Mirage gets on the SS Marsiva is far too short for even the beginnings of an introduction to this whole space show business. She wakes up in her bunk and immediately understands this isn't the dorms and isn't even the Macross Elysion or anything like that. Wherever she is she was plucked straight from her VF unit, flight suit and all.

So this starts right out as a recon mission in her mind. However she ended up here she's alone and has to find her own way back. She's barely stepped out of her room with a grimly serious expression, noting the people just walking through the hallways like it's no big deal she's standing out here.

And then woosh, she's ... being covered in confetti?

There's music?

Mirage is just sort of stuck in place, eyes wide and expression befuddled. And then she makes out her first disbelieving words to any gathered crew there.]

... Pudding?

[What's going on here?!]

[Alright, so things have been explained. Sort of? There's a ship and a fleet and some kind of show, that much she's gathered by now. She's been several hours roaming the SS Starduck and getting to know it's general layout, in particular where the shuttles are stored and such.

Now she's getting down to communicating across the other ships, a need to test the system being her primary excuse. She's wearing a stern, no nonsense expression here.]

I have been briefed on my current status and situation. [And now maybe just a touch angrier in tone.] I don't exactly appreciate this sort of treatment but--

[Ahem. Stay focused, Mirage. Treat this like a report or something similar, anger won't do much good.
She sighs out loud.]

My name is Mirage Jenius. Currently I am stationed aboard the SS Starduck. If there are others here from the Xaos company or the Macross Elysion, please respond.

[... How do you end one of these broadcasts? Mirage's stern expression briefly falters, a moment of confusion peeking through. Observant eyes will catch the tips of her ears reddening just slightly before she rushes through the rest.]

Yes, the fleet regularly visits systems that none of us are familiar with. Most of them are relatively hospitable, and the inhabitants are usually happy to have us on their planets.

But... ah, some systems are less welcoming. [He hesitates, trying to gauge just how much information to offer.] There has only been one occasion, in my time with the fleet, when the beings native to a planet were openly hostile. That was fourteen Terran months ago, however, so it is very uncommon.

I see. That's a relief.

[She seems to mean that too, despite the serious expression. Her shoulders relax.]

[He's pleased to see her slightly more at ease. So pleased, in fact, that he doesn't have the heart to mention that other planet that they had to help evacuate before it was hit by a meteor, or the space station that was infested with zombies, or--]

Ah--sorry for my bad manners! My name is Pavel Andreievich Chekov, I should have said so sooner.

[For now Mirage is blissfully unaware of meteors or zombies or anything of the sort. Instead she huffs out an amused breath and quirks a smile at the man.]

Don't worry about it. [His name was a mouthful and she assumes his full name so she gives her own full name in reply.] Mirage Farina Jenius.

[Those things happen infrequently enough that, hopefully, she'll be able to stay unaware for a while. Hopefully.]

Thank you, and I'm pleased to meet you, Mirage Farina Jenius. Which of your names do you prefer to go by?

[How polite. She gives him an appreciative smile.]

You can call me Mirage.

Mirage, okay. You can call me Pavel, if you like. Or Chekov. [A beat.] Or almost anything, provided it isn't too unflattering.

[Pff. She looks amused now.]

I'll try not to, Pavel.

[She thinks of Hayate a moment and actually does chuckle.]

Just don't have me train you in anything, alright? I can't guarantee I won't call you a few things then.

[It was a weak attempt at a joke and the fact that Mirage seems to be amused by it is greatly appreciated.]

So noted, thank you. If you are a singer like Kaname, no amount of training would be helpful anyway.

[At that Mirage doesn't disguise the huff of amusement.]
