[Frankly the amount of time Mirage gets on the SS Marsiva is far too short for even the beginnings of an introduction to this whole space show business. She wakes up in her bunk and immediately understands this isn't the dorms and isn't even the Macross Elysion or anything like that. Wherever she is she was plucked straight from her VF unit, flight suit and all.

So this starts right out as a recon mission in her mind. However she ended up here she's alone and has to find her own way back. She's barely stepped out of her room with a grimly serious expression, noting the people just walking through the hallways like it's no big deal she's standing out here.

And then woosh, she's ... being covered in confetti?

There's music?

Mirage is just sort of stuck in place, eyes wide and expression befuddled. And then she makes out her first disbelieving words to any gathered crew there.]

... Pudding?

[What's going on here?!]

[Alright, so things have been explained. Sort of? There's a ship and a fleet and some kind of show, that much she's gathered by now. She's been several hours roaming the SS Starduck and getting to know it's general layout, in particular where the shuttles are stored and such.

Now she's getting down to communicating across the other ships, a need to test the system being her primary excuse. She's wearing a stern, no nonsense expression here.]

I have been briefed on my current status and situation. [And now maybe just a touch angrier in tone.] I don't exactly appreciate this sort of treatment but--

[Ahem. Stay focused, Mirage. Treat this like a report or something similar, anger won't do much good.
She sighs out loud.]

My name is Mirage Jenius. Currently I am stationed aboard the SS Starduck. If there are others here from the Xaos company or the Macross Elysion, please respond.

[... How do you end one of these broadcasts? Mirage's stern expression briefly falters, a moment of confusion peeking through. Observant eyes will catch the tips of her ears reddening just slightly before she rushes through the rest.]

That's a good word for it.

[It's definitely more polite than admitting exactly what kind of skills he has to be so confident in the endeavor.]

I'm probably too new to be of much help, but if you need anything...?

I'll keep you in mind.

[She finishes the sentence how she assumed it would go. That said:]

How long have you been here?

[sinistral]

[A brief smile and nod follows the statement; she'd guessed his intent.]

Only for a few weeks. Feels much longer, but I suppose that's the nature of it.

Adjusting to a new place does feel pretty long.

[She's gone from home to the military and then on to a new base so she's had some experience there.]

You must be doing well though if you can give any instruction to new people.

[sinistral]

Especially a place where we're watched and expected to perform, yet the watchers never quite show their faces.

[Adaptability is a necessary survival instinct. It's something he understands well.]

I was lucky in having people reach out to me when I arrived. I won't claim to be any sort of expert but I want to try to pass that favor forward.

[nomirage]

That's a very thoughtful gesture.

[She sounds completely serious in her compliment.]

I'm sure I can't help with the intricacies of this place itself but I do know about space travel and visiting other planets in general.

We're all in this together, right?

[Not that they'll have to be bosom companions or anything like that but the way Bucky sees it they could at least try to get along with each other.]

This is my first time in space. Where I'm from something like this isn't even a possibility.

[nomirage]

It was like that where in my world when my grandfather was younger. Space travel is pretty common now though. A lot of people are even born in space if you can believe that.

[Like a great deal of her own family for starters.]

[sinistral]

Maybe we're headed in that direction too. [He can't help something of a laugh though.] I'd say that sounds unbelievable but almost everything about this place I would have considered unbelievable at one point.

[nomirage]

Would you say there's quite a bit of diversity among the crews here then?

[sinistral]

From what little I've observed, yes. If there's a pattern to it, it's escaped me.

[nomirage]

I see. Where I'm from there have been some fights and such over time but now most people work together... mostly.

[The Windmerans did too at one point and may now that they're fight was more or less over.]

I wonder how they decide who has what role on the ships then. I understand the augments aren't necessarily based on one's own abilities.

[sinistral]

I'm sure there will always be people who don't see eye to eye. But as far as I'm concerned it's not worth pursuing petty grievances, if they exist. If you don't like someone, it's not that hard to stay away from them.

[At least it hasn't been hard thus far to choose to avoid people. Bucky's not sure when or if that could change.]

I wish I had more of an idea of that as well. I'm security, but I was a soldier before this so the assignment makes sense.

[nomirage]

Mm, it's the same way with me. I'm a pilot here and that's what I do at home as well.

[It's so strange of a coincidence for both of them that she can't help but wonder why their augments align with their skills so well but for others it's not necessarily the case.

She has to smile at his first point though. It's an attitude she well agrees with... for the most part.]

That's a very logical stance to take.

Makes me wonder if the augments are based on how good we are at those skills. It may be that whatever brought us here doesn't give us a matching augment if it's not impressed with how we've conducted ourselves in our homes. But that's just conjecture.

[And with no way of proving it, at least not to Bucky's knowledge. But it's probably not worth dwelling upon, not with only conjecture and guesswork.]

It works for me. Maybe when I've got my head wrapped more around this whole thing it could change, but it's fine for me now.

Possibly. I wouldn't really advise it though. The less of that sort of thing you involve yourself in, the less trouble you'll have around you.

[Or so she thinks because honestly she's sort of a Miss Goody Two-Shoes type.]

Unless something makes trouble. But I think that's my job anyway, keeping everyone here safe if trouble does try to make its way onto the ship.

[Which hopefully won't happen at all, but he's not holding his breath.]
