The last time I had weird dreams that had real-life consequences and saw things that were kind of there but not really, I had all of my powers and strength taken from me. It was not fun. I seem to be okay this time around, but, uh...

[So definitely something from the boy's own world.] That doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of, in any world I've been in. Must be something unique to your own. So many interesting places out there.

Well, worlds, really.

My home reality has more than one.

Worlds, eh? I knew a few people who were from places like this who used to travel all over the universe in ships not too unlike these, I suppose. Is that anything like your world, one of those space-going types?

Well, the gummi ship I use is kinda like these ones? But also really different?

Oh? Please, go on. This whole spacefaring business is quite fascinating. You must understand, in my world, we still use quill and paper to send messages. The information forced on us isn't nearly the same as the experience of it. [Never mind that he's on one of those ships right now.]

A lot of the worlds I went to are like that too, I get it. A lot of my friends from those worlds would probably be totally blown away if they knew the truth of where I came from and how I got there.

Back home, we tend not to tell people that kind of stuff because we have to protect world order. It's taken some getting used to, and then I come here and everyone knows about space travel. Then that took some getting used too all on it's own!

And at least for me had the basic idea down, I imagine for you it was a shock!

[There is interest. Oh, there is interest. Imagine, an old man, fascinated by the stories of the young. Oh, the irony.]

Ah, so you weren't truly a visitor, more a shadow in those worlds. Up until my time in Riverview, I hadn't heard of such a thing, but no one there seemed to mind letting on to who they were and what they were doing there. The natives made no secret of it - it was their own fault we were there. That was the real shock, to find other worlds even existed, not just make believe stories.

Hm. Not a shadow. I was fighting the shadows. [But he won't dwell on that word too much.]

What's Riverview?

[He isn't aware of its significance, so he'll let the conversation slip to the next topic.]

Ah, well then... Riverview is the name of a town where I was brought to before this place. They were people who were playing with technology they didn't understand and it reached out to other worlds and brought other people into their world. We were all just waiting to go home, but here I am. And a boy I know came with me.

Wait... So... There are other places with the technology that the Fleet uses???

Maybe not exactly like this, but something close to it. There were people I knew in Riverview who could tell me about worlds I'd never seen before, not because it was their own, but because they'd traveled there within their own universe. They know what the stars hold, some of them. Isn't that fascinating?

Everything about this kind of place is. I travelled other worlds, but I didn't see stuff like what others have told me about. All of it is kind of crazy.

[He nods, agreeing.] It is, it is. I will give you that I know more about this than I did, but it's still strange to me. All in a good way, of course. Are you enjoying this, or is it making you wish for home?

The only thing I really miss are my friends. I usually travel around with some of them, and it's weird not having them around.

Ah, that's a shame. Having a time making new friends here then? You didn't strike me as the type to have difficulty in that.

It's like one of the things I'm best at doing!

Good, good. Keeps the loneliness at bay. That and I suppose a good cup of tea and a biscuit or two wouldn't hurt. [Sora looks young, after all. He wonders if children in that world still are tempted and distracted by such things as sweets.]

Oh hey! We could even have a tea party sometime if tea is going to be involved. You know, sometimes those have little cakes too.

The last one I had, we wore funny faces and hats too.

[Oh? Color him interested.]

A tea party? Goodness, I haven't been to one of those in ages. We didn't call them that though. That was what the women called them. The men held meetings. [He lifts his hands and crooks his fingers in air quotes for the word.] Ah, but I don't suppose you're a fan of brandy, are you? Seems to me that this place doesn't like to keep a lot of that sort of drink around.

I don't think I know what brandy is. [Sora replies after giving it some serious thought.]

And why would guys want to be left out of tea parties! They have tiny cakes, and sweets, and tea can be so comforting. It's a great way to have fun!

[He giggles lightly.]

Might be for the best then. Not much more than pure alcohol in it. You might be a bit young, but I wouldn't say no to sweets myself. They'd serve little finger sandwiches and whatnot at these meetings. Goes better with the drink, you see, but I'd prefer tea and a few biscuits over that. Depends on what kind of day i'm having.
