[Bucky tries not to sigh too loudly.] Small ones and a big one. [He repeats.
He's in sniper hell, here.
Still, he steps forward to actually inspect the options, including the armor, mentally weighing it as best he can against the one uniform he's got with him. And then he notices -] Is that a sword?
no subject
[However, thanks to his augment, he knows how to use them, and it might be useful to practice with them. Just in case.
He pauses while reaching for a side-arm, and looks down at his sword.]
Yeah. I got it on the last planet, from a magic tree. [He says with all seriousness.] But it's my sword from home.
With luck, we'll be able to find more weapons on the next planet.
no subject
Especially after that remark. Because,] You know how sometimes someone says something, and all the words make sense, but not in the order they put them?
[The wry quirk of his lips says that yeah, he's still getting used to all this.]
I'm mostly versed in the guns, but I can keep my eyes open, if you think it'll help.
no subject
[He nods to the guns.] I'm not opposed to guns, if you know how to use them. I don't know if we can rely on weapons supplied by whatever brought us here.
no subject
Well, I know how to use 'em. Provided they work. [Because that's a good point. Why would kidnappers give them working weapons that might be used against them, after all?]
I guess if I get one from a tree, I'll trust it a little more. [He grins a little.]
You got a name? [He holds out his hand.] Bucky.
no subject
[He huffs - not quite a laugh, but close enough.
And then shakes the offered hand.] Nico. Security. ...And captain, I guess.
no subject
But maybe I won't count on it, [Bucky murmurs, even as he picks up a sidearm and very seriously considers taking it with him.
[He does cock one eyebrow at that.] Security and captain? Although I guess there's not a whole lot to secure, that I've seen.
[He glances at the gun in his hand, and the sword on Nico's belt.] You considered a shield to go with that?
no subject
Me either. But I heard there have been attacks in the past.
[He shakes his head, briefly touching the hilt of his sword.] No. It'd just get in the way.
no subject
[Bucky can't help but laugh, just a little.] Yeah, that's kinda the point of a shield, you know.
[But past attacks are definitely not the funny part.] Guess I'll keep an eye out for anything weird - weirder than usual, anyway.
no subject
[He's got more scars than a kid his age should have, but he's not dead yet!]
Right. Can I ask what you did back home?
no subject
Sure.
Government special ops, is probably the closest thing. You heard of the Avengers, or Captain America?
no subject
no subject
[Bucky just shrugs.] Doesn't matter. I guess most people are starting over from scratch here. It's almost refreshing.
[But weird, too. Really weird.
Still, he nods to the weapons racked on the wall.] I used to be an Army sniper. If that means anything helpful.
no subject
I'd say it's pretty helpful.
[He looks over the available weapons.]
I don't suppose any of these are good for that.
no subject
[Bucky does look a little more relaxed and satisfied at that - at least, until he glances over the weapons again, even though he already knew the answer.] Not particularly, no.
But then, a sniper's not as much good in an enclosed space like this.
It's not all the scope, though. I've still got good aim. And a pretty good right hook.
[Basically - he will be backup (or the front line) if it's needed.]
no subject
[He knows how to pull a trigger. The rest, that would take experience he doesn't have.]
At least you have options.
no subject
[Bucky grins a little.] Always have a backup plan for your backup plan. When you've got friends like mine, that's kinda the only way you survive.
Seems like we don't have a whole lot of people on board, anyway.
