_{[ Welcome home everyone! The Tourist is still her tiny, lovely maze-like self. The slugs are still alive and the coffee maker is still ornery, though working, and everything looks to be in place. Though their roster has changed. Their resident Russian has taken flight to another ship, but they've gained another red head in his place and a new first mate with pointy ears. So it all works out.

Let's try and get back to business as usual shall we? ]}

I suppose that is accurate. [Spock is still interested in that fact but the cats are distracting. Besides which, he is not about to track a stranger down and ask to experiment on them. Yet.]

I have always been partial to felines. [More than partial considering the fact he didn't own one. Also, yet.]

Would I be able to visit them?

['Spock wants to meet my cats...' Remy snapped himself out of it quickly and put on a smile, playing it off cooly.] Absolutely, welcome 'round whenever. Don't take it personally though if Figaro is a bit stand offish, he ain't too big on other people. Lucifer however, once ya give him attention, won't leave ya alone.

[Spock doesn't look visibly excited but it's all in the subtext. Like how he releases his hands from his back and subtly moves closer. Or how he immediately offers:]

Were you otherwise occupied? Once your business is concluded we could visit now. The differences in personality is interesting. I would like to observe.

[...] Ah, no, I ain't. [Wow, like... wow. This was happening.] 'course ya can. [Remy hadn't expected anything like this to happen, but he's so happy it is, changing his path towards the kitchen and instead aiming for the shuttle bay.] Shall we then? [Also... well...] Can also go over that other talk as well.

[Spock follows behind with a little extra zest in his step. He does enjoy animals. Felines especially. And he's so absorbed in the possible differences in temperament and behavior he could observe that Spock completely misses the context of what Remmy is referring to.]

Oh. Regarding your demise?

Yeah, [He's not overly excited about it... but Remy is willing to do it for trying to gain a friendship with Spock.] The whole two birds one stone situation, hein?

[Then adding to that.] Have ya had a chance to pilot the shuttles yet? Feel this is more ya terrain than mine. [Though clearly Remy has had some practice with it, considering it was their sole transport for getting between ships, as well as the basic information their augments give them.]

[Spock nods mutely, suddenly looking far more serious if not upset.]

The... augment that is inside my mind has provided the ability to utilize these shuttles. I discovered my aptitude to pilot them upon exploration of the vessel.

[His face darkens.]

Helpful though it is, I would prefer to be taught and have the invasion removed.

Ah, yeah, I get that. [He really does.] I was pretty much the same when I first got here, suspicious of everything, tryin' to find those supposed cameras that be watchin' us. Thing be, can only put so much 'nergy 'nto it before ya just settle 'nd put up with it, or, I donno, go crazy with the need to find an answer.

Everyone gotta find their own right balance to be able to live through all that gets thrown at us. Otherwise, all it ends up doin' is hurtin' ya in the long run. Obsession ain't a good thing.

[Spock looks at Remy with respect.] That is sage advice and I intend to follow it. You have my gratitude.

[He finds a shuttle and gets in, already starting to get it running and plot a course for the other ship. The navigation system is rudimentary so it isn't as though he could get very far either way.]

How did you mitigate your need for answers? I do not believe many outside of myself utilize meditation.

[There is a pause, a deep inhale, as Remy thought that over and he got comfortable in his own seat on the shuttle, happy to leave it all to Spock. He knows the answer, and knows it's not the healthiest outlet for it all, it was how he dealt with everything when it got too tough. Well, running away, and;] Distraction. I started workin' at one of the bars as a cook, co-own it now with 'nother after the last boss left here 'while back now. Got m' cats. Friends. [And, well,] Jim. Good ways to ignore it all. Not think too much.

Not that against others tryin' to piece things together, but also tryin' to keep in mind sometimes too many ripples will bring too big a fish to the lake, 'nd we might not be able to handle it. [A shrug to end that, knowing that was a tough topic on the ships of late. Or at least his ship. It's also thinking Remy may have to reconsider, as much as he really didn't want to.]

[Spock is impressed with Remy once more. He can understand how Jim and he got together. Remy is good company and an even better thought partner. Spock sets the ship flying and turns to face him.]

So you would agree with the statement that your coping strategy stems mostly from mental avoidance?

Do you find that strategy sustainable?

[Remy let out a loud laughter at that.] Oh, absolutely it be. Ain't never argued that, even when didn't wanna admit to it. I couldn't avoid physically by leavin' this place, so did it mentally.

I don't do copin' well. [He admits, but the fact he can admit it now day was quite a step forward from where he had been.] 'nd... it's worked so far. With how much of this be out of our control, 'nd with the alternative, for me it don't feel like many other options. Not like they provide therapist with our stay here, no doubt 'cause better ratin's if we be actin' crazy than well managed.

If you wished to meditate on the matter. To delve into the emotions it caused within you, I would be amenable to acting as your guide.

[He extends his hand to show Remy the palm.]

I am unsure what Jim may have relayed to you, but I have the ability to be in another mind through touch. Only with permission, of course. But while there, I can guide another through thoughts. Feelings.

Ah, [A bit of a grin, but Remy tried to suppress it for the most, realizing Spock was meaning well, even if he wasn't the right target.] I may be doin' better now days than what I had been like back home, but still not ready for that. 'll stick to just 'ndulgin' in vices.

Plus 've had too many telepaths in m' head in m' lifetime, even those with good 'ntentions.

[Spock pulls his hand back, not offended nor bothered by the refusal.]

I am sorry if your experiences with telepathic persons have left you with ill-ease. It is a talent that is often utilized improperly. While it may not have been me or my people who caused it, as one with the same skill, I feel a need to inform you that we do not all take such potential liberties.

Oh, I know. It just seems to be a semi common power back home, 'nd not all have a good moral compass when it comes to usin' it. Don't worry 'bout it, cher, [Ok, yeah, that still felt a little weird to use on Spock, but Remy was going to push through with it, get it until it does work.] Same with 'ny powers, always goin' to have someone out there ready to abuse it.

Comes down to the person, not the power itself. Though, certainly know a few who been spurred on thanks to their powers. [Like Pyro. Johnny was an... interesting guy, though certainly even less stable when he's around fire.]
