Action the Red Fish

[Finding herself on a strange ship would probably worry Mikumo, but... she's not really that kind of girl. Her life is just not normal. Besides, she has a feeling that she knows where she is. Sort of.

It's not either of the ships she was on the first time she was here, nor is it the big ship she spent a few days on before being moved. It's new, but the confetti and the faux-pudding cups are a clue. The idol just shakes her hair free of the brightly colored paper and starts to look around the ship.]

Hm, it looks as if someone let Messer decorate the walls. How interesting.

[As she walks down the halls, she trails a hand down the walls. Nothing comes away, but that doesn't mean she isn't a bit surprised.

She stops at a mess of paper that looks as if it is telling some secret to the many little dials around the ship and points when she sees one that leads to the residences.]

My, my. This would make visiting others so much easier.

[Mikumo eventually ends up in her private room on the ship, the Red Fish and she pulls out her communicator. She waggles her fingers playfully before blowing a kiss at the screen.]

Well, hello, people of the Fleet. It's so lovely to be back here. Tell me, have I missed any venues? I see about this memory sharing thing that's happened again, but I suppose it's a good thing I missed that. I don't have many to share with you.

[It's everything to not laugh. Mostly because she doesn't want to tease Mirage too much. Yet.]

Well, I suppose it's a good thing that you've never thought to become an idol. There's very little privacy between the rest of the group and the public.

[There's a feeling in her bones though. Between Taako and Mikumo, Mirage's life will be one of constant teasing. Woe.

At present though she seems more amused than upset.]

That's certainly one reason I'm not really cut out for it.

Well, I haven't heard you sing, but you shouldn't be that bad of a dancer. I've seen the way you train.

Flying is one thing, dancing is another.

[She's not going to bring up how she mistimes her steps now and then in routines because she's probably thinking about doing it perfectly way too hard.]

Yes, well, if I can teach Freyja, you aren't at total lost cause.

Thank you for the offer but I'm fine as I am.

[Thank you but she's enough of a tyrant on herself.]

It's an open offer. I remember how the time between systems drags.

[Oh, she's never had it as bad as when Mikumo and Kaname are in charge of your exercise.]

So, what have you been up to since you got here? When did you get here?

I believe it was a few months ago. I had a little time on the Starduck before all of the memory things began. It is a little surprisingly... easy going.

[At least compared to all the activity and regimented schedules she needed with UN Spacy or the Delta Flight.]

Well, it has its own challenges, being here. However, it has its charms as well. Most of the people here are rather charming. Although, I suppose Kaname is a better advocate for that.

[Not that Mikumo has anything particularly against being here either.]

It should give you time to pick up a new hobby, depending on your augment.

Surprisingly, I'm still a pilot here.

[She's not sure how she managed it considering everyone else's predicaments... or those of the people she's talked to so far but...]

[She gazes off into the distance.]

I suppose this is a good opportunity to read more.

[Mirage, of all people, deserves to have a strange and fun augment.]

The first time I was here, they made me a Communications officer. This time, I'm Lab Support.

[Why only senses of humor in Mikumo's case?

She frowns at where Mirage's mind goes. BORING!]

You could read more, certainly, but isn't there something else you want to do as well?

[Mirage pauses, mulling over the question a moment.]

[Mikumo rolls her eyes and contemplates hanging up their connection.]

How can you be so unimaginative? Listen. That just won't do. You need to get out and do things you normally wouldn't have the chance to do back home.

Otherwise, you're going to grow old, alone, with a million mercats, in your onesie. Forever.

[How rude! For a moment there's a brief sputtering sound as Mirage's expression vacillates between surprise, quick displeasure, embarrassment and then exasperation.]

It's not that bad.

[Just because she never stood a chance with the one guy she ever had the hots for doesn't mean she's confined to a million mercats!]

[Mirage, you should be used to that by now. How long have you been a part of Delta Platoon?]

It really is. If you're just going to sit around doing nothing, everyone else will leave you behind. Even Messer.

[She says these things because she likes you.]

[Look, it didn't used to be about her love life, okay? Sometimes it was about her being a Goody Two-Shoes or a tight ass or something not involved with her becoming a spinster.

Even Messer? She sighs out.]

I would welcome that by this point. He has a chance to leave me behind here.

[BOY THAT SURE GOT GRIM ALL OF A SUDDEN, THANKS MIRAGE.]

[Mikumo's voice is sharp and commanding.]

The next world we visit, you and I are going out. You're going to have fun. I promise I won't even leave you if you're being a wet blanket.

[Her brows raise way up. Mikumo's got an awfully commanding voice there. Did she strike a nerve or something?]

I... that is, I'm not opposed to it or anything. I do like to have fun as much as anyone else.

[And she does need to go shopping FINALLY. Oh for a planet with clothing store choices!]

[Of course she did. It's not as if Mikumo is the most patient member of Walküre. If she wanted that, she should be talking to Makina.]

Good. I hope you're ready then. And in the meantime, you can always join Kaname in her runs around the Iskaulit.

Plus, there's a pool there as well.

Oh! I haven't been to the pool yet.

[Now running maybe but she likes the idea of a swim. Ragna was a nice place for that after all and she misses it.]

Have you spent any time trying to explore the Iskaulit? It has a lot to offer.

[More room and space to stretch your legs, especially in the long periods of drifting between systems.]

Not a great deal yet. I went looking for clothing shops but...

[Well, no such luck there.]

I've been wearing some of the things you left behind since I arrived.

That's fine. It's not as if I was here to fight you on wearing my things without returning them.

[She's actually serious about that for a change.]

But, the first opportunity we get, you're getting your own things, whether it's a planet or a space station along the way.

Believe me, there's nothing I want more. No offense.

[It's hard to find clothes Mirage considers adequately covering everything that needs it.]

Hm, I don't know if I should say "none taken". There is absolutely nothing wrong with my sense of fashion, I'll have you know.

[Mirage is a fuddy-duddy and needs to lighten up like a million levels. She's too damn serious for her age.]
