This is General Grievous, now in charge of Security aboard the Goldstone.

[Or so this is the way he's thinking of it, what with the other security officers now promoted to Captain and First Mate.]

It is important that I speak with any Communications staff, from any other Fleet ships, as we are lacking our own. More in particular, if you have technical skills with this world's technology.

You may contact me directly to discuss some matters that have been brought to my attention.

Do you deal with Communications yourself or are you questioning for other's benefit?

[oratorical]

[Well it's not like she'd imagine it's difficult to ask around and figure out her role, even if she'd prefer to not give more information about herself than necessary, so--]

I do deal with communications, but I'm certain any other communications officer would have the same misgivings.

[generalgrievous]

I did already say what I needed one with such qualifications for. Surveillance technology. For defence of our ship.

[oratorical]

That's hardly specific enough. You haven't said why you need that surveillance technology.

[Having heard of Grievous in her lessons, she thinks it's natural to be suspicious of whatever he's looking for here.]

Does your own ship not have this?

[Well yes of course they do, but at the same time--]

Whether or not my ship has it doesn't explain your excessive need for secrecy when asking for help. It adds a layer of suspicion to your request.

[Some secrecy, absolutely, she knows the value of that well. But when asking for help, that's a different issue.]

Your asking for more information aside from what I have said is also suspicious. Are you planning an attack on the rest of the Fleet?

[oratorical]

[Leia purses her lips, the barest hint of an annoyed and defiant look on her face.]

To put it bluntly, that is what I'm wondering about you. Seeking to use the skills of passengers from other ships for the benefit of solely your own, without even being the captain of your own ship. It's an unusual request, and one I'd wager most are wary of.

[generalgrievous]

It is by my Captain's request that I am asking about this. Perhaps he should have done this task himself, if others are so suspicious of a Security officer's motives.

[oratorical]

Who is your captain? For the sake of verification, should I hear from him.

[generalgrievous]

I believe his name is Kolivan. He was with Security but recently promoted.

[oratorical]

Kolivan.

[Not someone she recalls meeting before, but all the same--]
