The Bachelor Party (( CLOSED to invited CR ))

The evening before the wedding, Jim and Victor gather up their closest friends, admittedly not many when they haven't been on the Fleet for that long. Bachelor parties would usually happen in separate, but that's difficult to do when they share so many friends, and so they decide to throw the party together.

The setting is simple but cozy; they've picked out a small pub in town, and reserved a rustic little room in the basement. There's a large table with a few games, most notably a chessboard, and a sitting area with couches and chairs gathered around a coffee table, in front of a lit up fireplace. On a small bar by the corner there are a few drinks on offer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and on a table next to it there is a selection of snacks and various kinds of finger foods to make for a light but hopefully filling dinner.

Courtesy of Kirk 1.0, there's also a music system and a microphone set up next to the sitting area, and you know what that means... karaoke! It's guaranteed to be more fun the drunker you get. Speaking of drunker, someone will definitely be tossing around the idea for strip chess, so hopefully you won't get too embarrassed if people start losing pieces of clothing. But hey, at least everyone's a winner.

The party will go well into the night, and Jim and Victor likely won't leave until everyone else does. So feel free to stick around, play games, sing songs and get drunk... if you get really drunk, you can always make yourself comfortable on one of the couches and fall asleep there. (The patrons can just kick you out eventually, it's okay.)

You Are Cordially Invited... (( OPEN to everyone! ))

The preparations were rushed and the invitations sent out in a bit of a hurry, but it's not like there's ever a lot of time to prepare for a wedding, when one doesn't want to do it aboard one of the ships. But everything seems to be well put together, and there's a very rustic and homely feel from the moment you arrive.

The ceremony proper happens at the lodge, a spot that has been set up with a few seats and a set of stairs leading up to a small canopy, all of it decorated with white fabric and an abundance of flowers. It's short and sweet, and after vows are exchanged and a few words from the one performing the ceremony (hopefully no one will find it too weird that it's the other Jim), they slip on their rings and share a kiss, delighted to let the celebrations continue onto the reception.

With Jim and Victor taking the lead, the guests are walked across a bridge, lit with candle lanterns, strings of white flowers embellishing the wooden frame. The good portion of the reception is outside, and everything is decorated with lanterns, string lights hanging everywhere and resembling stars more and more as the sun starts to set, and (yes, you guessed it) more flowers.

As a matter of fact, there are flowers a little all over the place. In jars hanging from trees, tied to the backs of chairs, bundled up in crates that are spread out all over the area. The food is set up on large tables, divided by starters, main dishes and desserts, the wedding cake having its own smaller but more prominent stand near the dessert table. There are no assigned seats, however. After all, everyone was invited and it's not like there are that many people on the Fleet, so just grab a plate, help yourself, and take a seat wherever! You might even find a few of the locals joining in on the party a little later, but both grooms seem more than happy to welcome them too.

The party goes on a little into the night. Everyone is free to hang around for as long as they want, or leave early if you're scared of the dark...

but don't worry, there are lights all over the place! There are also plenty of cozy little nooks and corners where guests can make themselves comfortable, and if you start to get a little chilly, feel free to borrow one of the many blankets on offer, or simply head into the indoors portion of the reception. It's small but there are a few seats and even a fireplace to keep the place warm.

If you like sitting by a fire but would much rather stay outside, a small campfire will be lit up just before the sun starts to set, and a small table with plates of something that looks close to marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits set up nearby. Have a seat around the fire and build your own s'more, and toss in a campfire song or two if you're feeling inspired.

And of course, can't have a wedding without a dance floor! Or two, as it so happens: one indoors, and another one outside, the latter far more enchanting, with endless string lights hanging high above a flat wooden platform.

There's a fairly modern music system so you might recognize a lot of late 20th and early 21st music playing, but for those more musically inclined there are also plenty of local instruments you can pick up and try your luck at playing a song, or even sing.

The party is very loose and carefree. Do what you want, come and go as you please, steal either of the grooms away for a dance, or find a pair among the other guests... whatever you want to do, and however long you want to stay, feel free to do as you please!

Sounds exciting. So what, bringing plants back to life, that sort of stuff? Could be pretty interesting, and with far less ethical conundrums. Not to mention useful, when we're stuck aboard the ships for longer periods of time.

More or less. It's still helping people; my name can still stand for life. Just not in a way that risks people getting hurt.

[Unless, you know, he somehow creates killer plants. But that's a worry for another day]

[ Jim smiles, leaning in to kiss Victor's cheek. ] Look at you. My brave, sexy husband, a real hero.

[ But yes, let's please avoid killer plants. They're working on a good reputation here. ]

[He turns his head to get a kiss on the mouth instead]

I like that word: "husband". Though I'll leave being a hero to you, geliebte.

[ Jim all but giggles at that move, lips pressing against Victor's and not moving too far away. ]

Yeah? But you'll accept brave and sexy, right?

Of course. I can't deny I'm pretty damn sexy, and there are many ways to be brave.

Yes, there are. And you're definitely brave. [ He leans in to kiss Victor, sliding a hand up and down his chest. ] And the sexiest man here.

[He lets out a soft hum, closing his eyes at the touch]

How much longer do you think we need to stay here?

Probably not very long. A few of the guests have already left, even...

[ And looking around, it does look like the reception is winding down. Some people are still out and about, having fun with each other, but the newlyweds leaving shouldn't be much of an impediment for the party to keep going. Eyes bright, he winks teasingly at Victor. ]

Eager to consummate our wedding?

[Victor smirks, kissing James's hand]

Maybe a little. But I have an incredibly sexy husband, so I doubt anyone would blame me.

No, I don't think anyone would. [ He chuckles, biting on his lower lip. ]

Let's go, then. I tried to make our room look real special, too. I want to show it to you.

[He pauses only for a moment to check on the party one more time. Then he nods and takes James's hand]

I can't wait to see it.

[ With a happy little smile, he holds Victor's hand in his, then gets to his feet, leaving his empty plate behind. It crosses his mind to say goodbye to everyone still at the party, but instead he nods for Victor to follow him through the shadows, so they can sneak out of the party and head up to the small cabin Jim rented out for their wedding night, and their last days on this planet too. ]

[As he said, he's sure no one will fault them for sneaking away and having some alone time. They're bound to get plenty of people stopping by to congratulate them in the next few days, anyway. Not to mention the fan response to the wedding.

Victor turns to James once they reach the cabin, a playful smile on his lips]

Would you like me to carry you across the thresh hold?

[ Jim stops by the door, glancing at Victor with a smile. ]

Yes, actually. I'd like that very much.

[ Even if this is technically a surprise from him to Victor, he still wants to be carried in. So he places his arms around Victor's neck, waiting for the doctor to pick him up and carry him inside.

The room itself looks much like every other, wooden walls, floor and ceiling, a large bed and overall very rustic furniture and other decorations. There are little additions, though, clearly made by Jim himself. Some curtains in white and lace have been hung above the bed, and there are a few string lights hanging from them, and plenty of soft pillows and warm blankets covering the bed.

The fireplace is also lit up, a lot of blankets stretched on the floor in front of it to make for a sort of secondary makeshift bed, and there are flower petals strewn around the room a little all over. ]

[Good thing he's been keeping up with his work-outs. He manages to carry James over the thresh hold, but sets him down to admire the room. He walks over to the lace curtains, running his fingers over the material, and smirks when he sees the blankets near the fire]

It looks wonderful, geliebte.

[He turns away from the decorations, focusing again on the man, taking James by the hand and pulling him in for a kiss]

[ Jim knew Victor would like the decorations. It might look a little over the top, but hell, it's their wedding night and he wants it to be special and unique.

He steps closer and wraps his arms around Victor's neck, happily returning the kiss, letting out a soft hum as he licks at the doctor's lips. ]

There's a little extra too... hold on.

[ Smoothing his hands down Victor's jacket, he steps away, reaching behind a cabinet door and touching something there. Slowly sounds of thunder and rainstorm start playing in the background, quiet and muffled enough that it seems like it's coming from outside. ]

[If he'd been in charge of decorating the room, it would've been just as over-the-top, though maybe in a different way.

It's not surprising that there's even more to this, but Victor isn't expecting the sounds of rain and thunder. He's always half joking about the weather: how pleasant it is, how sunny. And here James is bringing him the sounds of home.

A grin spreads over his lips]

Naturally. It wouldn't be a Frankenstein wedding without a thunder storm.

[ Jim grins too, chuckling softly as he makes his way back to Victor. He reaches out and promptly tugs his jacket down his shoulders, tossing it over the back of a nearby chair. ]

Thought it would be a nice touch. And I want to make love to you to the sound of rain. [ He practically purrs against Victor's lips, pressing a quick peck to them. ] So... where'd you like to start?

[ There's the bed, of course, but Jim did try to make those blankets by the fire especially appealing for a reason. ]

[He smiles, carefully sliding one button off at a time before adding his shirt to the chair as well and reaching to do the same for James. He's taking his time, giving James kisses on his mouth and neck]

Getting naked, of course.

[He slides out of his pants, stepping back out of James's reach. Throwing a smirk, he settles down onto the blankets and tries to stretch out so the light from the fire catches his body at all the right angles]

[ Jim bites on his lips as he watches Victor undress, grinning wider when he lies down across the blankets, making for quite the sight. Following after, he slowly sheds the rest of his clothes too, making sure to kick them out of the way before he's kneeling down on the blankets next to Victor.

One hand propped next to his head, Jim trails the fingertips of his other hand up Victor's stomach and chest, dragging slowly over the unusual scar on Victor's arm that he loves so much. ]

You're so lovely. [ His tone carries all the affection he can muster, and he leans down to kiss Victor, a slow, gentle touch of lips. ]

[He watches James with a little smile on his lips. A smile that grows a bit more as he's touched. Victor's eyes glow at the words and he reaches out to run his fingers over the scar on James's arm. He doesn't love that James was hurt, but he does love the scar left behind.

His hand slides down to find the other scar. He's more than ready for James's kisses when they come]

Yeah. I know. [He chuckles, running his fingers over the scars again] And you are beautiful.

[ Jim doesn't really like how he got his scars either, but he'll admit that he is very fond of them, now. He also really likes it when Victor touches and kisses them, and in a strange sort of way they make him feel closer to the doctor.

He shifts so he's lying down on his stomach next to Victor, just a leg resting loosely over one of Victor's knees. He slides his hand up to Victor's shoulder, fingers brushing across his jaw. ]

And I am all yours, now... [ He dips his head down and kisses Victor all too gently. ] And forever.

[He slides his hand up the back of James's neck and into his hair, curling his fingers through the strands. It's continuously amazing to him how love and affection works in a person's heart, how it can fill every part of his being. He felt it when they exchanged their vows and he feels it again here]

Now and forever.

[Those weren't words from their vows, but they feel similar. Vows just between the two of them. He kisses back, nuzzling James's cheek when he breaks the contact]

[ Jim nearly purrs when those fingers sift through his hair, closing his eyes and tilting his head towards the touch. His lips brush down Victor's neck, and he plants a trail of slow, soft kisses across the skin, gently nipping and licking his way down.

There's no reason to rush tonight, after all. With the whole cabin to themselves, the fireplace lit, the sounds of rainstorm playing across the room, the softness of the blankets beneath them when they shift... everything is perfect, and it feels even more wonderful than he could've ever imagined it would be. ]
