[When Isabela wakes up the first thing she does is check for daggers. Which are, of course, absent. She checks both her surroundings and her person.]

[Unsurprisingly voicing her frustration doesn't help. There doesn't even seem to be anything she can use as a makeshift weapon. Cautiously, she bends down to retrieve a rather magnificent hat that seems to have fallen off while she was still out. She feels around in that too. Just in case. Any concealed weapons it might have held at one time are no longer there, however.

Is it even possible for her to look any more pissed off? Evidently so.]

[And there is Hawke, looking about as excited as his ridiculous dog. Not that Isabela isn't similarly delighted. She doesn't even attempt to play down how pleased she is as she might on some occasions.]

I don't know. I've compared it to so many others at the docks, but none of them do that. Not even the really ugly ones. Do you think there's something wrong with it?

No, no, I'm sure it's perfectly natural. Surely all hats must have their own quirks and imperfections to keep them interesting! Otherwise...worn one, worn 'em all. Though if you're concerned, have you considered bringing it to a haberdasher? To be sure no nasty sort of bugs have burrowed into the lining or anything.

[ If this does not make her ask if Anders is around he will eat her hat. And then up until very recently he would have. Eaten her hat. So to speak.

Where's Anders when you need him? I've never found a haberdasher who manages to annihilate an infestation quite like he does. Surely he can improve the way it looks as well.

[ It's not really news he wants to give her. Her or Aveline, although to be fair his motivation to get out of this isn't as strong as it might be, considering he's not positive there's anywhere to get back to, for him, and even if there is he's not sure he wouldn't prefer a really long nap.

There's ...that, though, which was conveyed somewhat unintentionally. But then Isabela is a lot sharper than most people give her credit for, and it's with a warm wave of fondness that for a second he's deeply wistful he actually is deciding, apparently right at this moment, to do without the glorious depth and breadth of her...hat. ]

I think I want to be a lot less sober for that conversation. If you're willing to take a raincheck it's only my duty to pay, of course.

[ Bribery. Plus like, she won't have started off with credits rolling out of her pockets and shit, which is the way Hawke currently feels. His enormous dramatic life is good for something! ]

[She'd guessed as much from the others she's spoken too, but she still had to be sure. This other news definitely takes the sting out of it though. She's pleased for her friend, even if it does mean she's going to be deprived of his talents.]

[ Hawke groans, possibly as though he's being forced to recount some unbelievably embarrassing childhood incident involving a goat, rather than mentioning to a friend that he's Met Someone. His life is 70% more trial with Isabela around. She must never be allowed to leave him again. ]

That would be the haberdasher previously mentioned. I'll wait while you say all the things just dying to be let out of your mouth right now.

[ She is going to be done saying things approximately never, he's aware. But that's one of the things he likes about her, so at least he has some idea what he's in for. ]

[She was going to wait for him to buy her a few drinks. Really, she was, but with that revelation how can she possibly contain herself? She wouldn't have been able to even if Hawke hadn't given her permission.]

Yes, that was quite a tender moment amongst many. I might still have a burn mark or two.
