My friends, one of the many things I've very much enjoyed while on the Fleet is the ability to experience enjoyable things I never would have had had the opportunity to hear about back on Thedas. A 'water park' seems to be one of those. I am interested in seeing what the fuss is about... Especially if I can convince Kolivan to experience it with me. [Oh, he will. That is going to happen.] Meeting him as been other one of those things, after all, and combining them could be fun.

My concern is this. [He lifts his left hand, showing off the silver cybernetic prosthetic.] When it was installed I was reassured it's waterproof and I've had no issues with it in the shower and such, but somehow this seems different.

Does anyone have experience with these sorts of limbs? Can you check that it will still function properly even if I take it down a 'water slide'? [He seems to enjoy saying 'water slide' even though he can't fully conceptualize what it is.]

[Waterpark (for Kolivan)]

[Just as he had suggested on the network, he is able to convince Kolivan to come with him to check out the water park. Now they are both in bathing suits and t-shirts (very out of place for both of them, honestly) and side by side as Cyril considers the slides.

He has been reassured that his arm is waterproof, but now that he's here, he realizes that he hadn't considered his khol.]

Oh... I just realized this is going to make my eyes run.

[He was excited about the new experience and hadn't fully thought ahead. Don't judge him.]

Oh! Does that mean you have friends or colleagues here? That tends to make things easier for newcomers.

More or less. They hail from a time after my own.

Does that make them the future of the future? [He seems to think that's a bit of a joke. His tone is a little playful.]

Most likely, though calling them that feels redundant.

It does, doesn't it? Compared to my home, even hundreds of years in your past would likely be comparable to my future.

When it comes to those from Thedas, I'm the one from the latest date. I suppose that makes us opposites in a way?

I suppose you could say that, though I don't think our settings divide us so completely.

[ at least, not in michael's book. ]

I can't help but agree. My time here has taught me that no matter how different we think we might be, there are actually so many things that make us similar to one another.

Thedas - that's my homeworld - does not even have the steam engine yet. From what I've read, our level of technology is close to what some might describe as 'medieval.' And I came here and met a man from a universe that spans countless planets. He is from a race of people I never would have heard of back home.

And yet here we are, and my heart is better for having met him.

I never would have met you, either. And yet as we are both here in this Fleet you could reassure me that my arm will survive going on an outing with him.

[ that is a lot of emotion, but michael manages a genuine smile at that. ]

You should see what sorts of things the planet offers that you'll enjoy. We could all use a bit of relaxation.

With Starfleet do you usually visit other planets?

Yes, quite often. That is part of our job. To seek out new life and new civilisations.

What was your favorite planet that you've visited?

A planet called Pahvo. Everything there . . . . sang. It kept singing.

So it was... a planet of beautiful harmony?

Yes. I still remember it fondly.

[ it was rough on saru and the ongoing conflict was hard, but she enjoyed those twilight moments with ash, among the soft musical glow of pahvo. ]

That sounds amazing.

I've heard some people say that some of the planets here sing in a way. I wonder if that's true? Probably not in the same way that you remember.

Most likely. Planets have more in common than they realize.

It's the same as people. It's a realization that was strangely comforting to have.

It certainly helps when everything around you is unfamiliar.

Compared to my life back home, everything here certainly was and yet somehow I've managed to feel familiar with it all.

I don't think it is difficult.

All you need is time. And someone to help you.
