[Keith showed up on the feed, looking mildly annoyed and somewhat disappointed... not the usual face of someone who was about to make the following announcement, which, for most, would likely be more bittersweet.]

Drift Fleet... I wanted to let you all know that Mikleo has left the Fleet. That means, the Huntress has a new captain. Atroma apparently decided that should be me. [Why does this keep happening?] That's all.

[He switched the feed so it was private to Lance.]

Looks like I need a First Mate. You up for it?

[Just like back home, right?]

[So, Keith could now be found trying to familiarize himself with everything else on the Huntress in an attempt to at least be a decent Captain. Thankfully, this was a lot less pressure than being the leader of Team Voltron. Still, it was a responsibility, and one that had once again somehow dropped in his lap, but he was going to take it seriously all the same.

If this had happened before his time in the abyss, he might have tried to find someone else to do it. However, he was willing to accept his fate.

When not doing that, he could be found doing his usual routine around the Iskaulit... obstacle course, gym, getting food... The Lion's Den felt empty lately, and, since he and Lance were on the same ship and the Blades had ended up picking a different spot for themselves, it seemed silly now. He kept it anyway... just in case anyone came back.]

[Keith was definitely taking on odd jobs here and there to fetch things from the surface or go hunting. Exploring was a thing, too. Glowy forest? Cool. Of course, shopping because... why not? And then there was the water park and the VR. Lance did manage to get Keith to the water park. Not that he hated it, but he didn't really like crowds. However, it wasn't all terrible. He still had fun. And there was, of course, the VR stuff. That he liked a lot. Care for a game?]

Once I see what's on the surface, it won't be a problem.

[It would be his luck to travel into a nest of sharp teethed lizards. Probably better to find a safe landing zone to aim for first.]

Oh? You good with directions, then?

[Keith made a few turns, leading Nico down into a less crowded section of the city.]

It's easier if I know where I'm going first, but...

[Oh. Wait. Not everyone knew about that. Okay. He steps into the nearest shadow, disappears, and reappears in Keith's shadow.]

[Keith was only half paying attention and, for a second, he was baffled when he noticed Nico was gone until-]

[He jumped away.]

What the cheese? How'd you do that?

[Is that a smirk? Maybe.]

Shadow travel. It's like teleporting. But through shadows.

[Oh... har har.]

Right. There's no... there's no warning, though.

[At least Kosmo gave off a flash and a particular sound.]

Warning? Why would there be a warning?

[Shadows were silent. And better for sneaking up on people.]

Well, when Kosmo teleports, there's a noise and a flash of light.

I guess I'm just used to that.

[Sheepish...]

...Isn't that your dog?

Mm-hm. [Keith nodded.] Coran called him a cosmic wolf when I brought him back to the Castle back home. I guess that's just something cosmic wolves can do.

[He's going to pretend he knows who Coran even is and why a castle is involved. He accepts the answer without question. Sure. Cosmic dog.]

Most creatures from the Underworld can shadow travel. I know a hell hound who can. [That's a dog. Relate-able?]

A hell hound? Those are real?

[Okay, but a lot of people could probably throw the same back at Keith for Kosmo...

They came to a slightly less used elevator that promised to take them to the surface now. Easy peasy... no crazy crowds to get turned around in.]

They are where I'm from.

[No crowds. Good. He's less than thrilled with the elevator - not a fan on enclosed spaces - but as long as there was breathing room, he'd deal with it.]

You wouldn't want to meet one face-to-face, though. Except maybe Mrs. O'Leary. She's pretty tame.

[They were alone, and it was a pretty standard elevator, so not small.]

I don't know that I'd be able to tell the difference between them...

If they're eating your face, they're not not Mrs. O'Leary.

[He shrugs.]

It's not like you'd have to worry about it here, though.

Well, no... I guess not. But, still. It would be nice to know before they start eating my face.

[Heh... What even was this conversation now? Keith hit the button, and the elevator started to up. Most people took the escalators to the surface, hence why it was quieter this way. But, once they got to the main level, it did get a bit more crowded... relatively speaking. Not a lot of people went to the surface in general anyway, and most of the people going in and out were either Fleeters are other off-worlders.

But, the doors to the outside were visible from the elevator, and it wasn't hard to get to.]

[Nico takes a second to assess the area revealed when the elevator doors slide open before stepping out.]

[He looks back at Keith.] Um, thanks for showing me.

Yeah, sure. No problem.

[Keith smiled a bit.]

I don't like crowds, so I make a point of learning all those kinds of shortcuts.
