Who: Bucky!Cap Barnes
Broadcast: Private to Natasha Romanoff
Action: Bishop, planetside on Lyndia
When: Shortly after the last shuffle (for video & Bishop), anytime during their stopover in the Bix system
[Video: Private to Natasha Romanoff]
Hey, so when's a good time for a fight and a drink?
[Action: Bishop]
[Bucky's new on the Bishop, but it's not like he's never been here before. Anyone who's been here for a week or two might have seen him coming and going from Steve Rogers' room. In fact, now that he's on board, that appears to be where he's headed now, with an armful of clothes and a strange, circular red, white, and blue shield tucked under one arm.
Actually, since his hands are full, he very politely(?) kicks at the hatch to Steve's cabin once he gets there.
Later, he can be found walking the ship, familiarizing himself with the bridge, bathroom, and kitchen - where he's also digging for the coffee grounds and means to make it into actual coffee, because that's really important. Seriously. Coffee is magic.]
[Action: Planetside]
[Bucky also takes the opportunity to stretch his legs on Lyndia. In fact, he takes the opportunity to spend some time outside, because no matter how much the natives of this world warn him, it seems fine to him. Not even a sniffle. So he ends up earning some extra cash, running errands and ferrying supplies from the surface, including hacking away at vines, gutting old wooden buildings, and maybe even seeing if he can't track down said reptilian beast.
Bucky spends his significant earnings largely on food and clothing, because a) he wants to eat things that are not gel and b) he wants to wear things that are not jumpsuits. He is also willing to share the riches with friends, should they run into him.]

Re: Planetside
[Bucky is currently eating at an "open air" cafe (is anything really open air when you're underground?); when he spots Sara, he smiles and kicks a little at the empty chair on the other side of his table, inviting her to sit down for a moment if she wants to.]
Not yet, but not for lack of looking. [His smile turns a little rueful.] I learned how to track careless guys in the Army, not big, scaly things. But the principle's sort of the same, I guess.
How about you?
no subject
I wasn't in the Army, but I learned that guys and big scaly things don't have that many differences, especially when it comes to tracking.
no subject
I'll bet you have. Well, that's good for me, I guess. The fun part's gonna be what happens when I find it.
[Then again, he hasn't had a real fight in a while. It'll be good for him.] What're you up to?
no subject
Just getting a feel for the planet, mostly. The change of scenery is appreciated.
no subject
It is nice, yeah, [he hums, agreeing.] Honestly, I'm a city boy and even I think the fresh air's nice. But then again, a city ain't a spaceship.
At least they've got real food here, too. Definite plus.
no subject
And god. I would kill for some Big Belly Burger right now.
no subject
Yeah, [Bucky agrees; then he chuckles, because,] God, a burger - or three - would be amazing. Gel is not the preferred way to eat, if you ask me. It's goddamn boring, and I don't care how they make it taste, it's not the same.
At least we've got real coffee - or close enough - on board. I wonder if we can take back some of this stuff and freeze it or something. [He looks thoughtfully at his mostly empty plate, now.] Might last at least a little while.

I guess in the meantime, I'll stockpile breakfast cereal. [he grins a little.]
no subject
We can go on the great granola hunt of whatever year it is.
no subject
[He grins.] Sounds like a good time. Although maybe some plants for an indoor garden, too. Can't live on granola alone, huh?
Plus, that gets us one step closer to pizza.

Can't guarantee I'll try it twice, though.
no subject
It's surprisingly good. You have the sweet from the pineapple, the spice and acid from the tomato sauce, and then you get some bacon or ham on there for the salt. If we get a chance, I'll make you try some.
no subject
But it doesn't sound bad. I'd try it.

It's, uh, 2014, where I'm from. But I was born in 1917. I took a plane down in 1945, only when I crashed, everything iced over, and I guess I was too stubborn to die - I mean. Mostly 'cause of some shit I got pumped full of, during the war. Kept me alive, just asleep. For about sixty-seven years, 'till somebody found the plane and realized I wasn't dead.
[It's a weird-ass story, and he tries to tell it with as little embellishment as possible.]
no subject
Basically a proof of concept for cryogenics, huh.
no subject
'Course, they tried to pull one over on me when I woke up, like I couldn't handle it. Probably not the smartest move.
[He waves his hand around a little, indicating their situation.] 'Least the Atroma are honest. I think.
no subject
What'd you do?
no subject
Yeah, it really is, [he murmurs.] For one thing, they don't make bras the same way anymore.
Honestly, I tried to get the hell out of there. Thought they might be the Nazis, actually, pretending I'd been recovered by friendlies. It... took a long time to convince me otherwise, even after I got outside. That was even more foreign, you know? Everything was even more off, but still just enough the same to make a guy feel like he's looking in a funhouse mirror.
It's better when everything's kinda... well, for lack of a better word, alien.
no subject
And I get that. It's weird when stuff is almost the same, but different in major ways.
no subject
[Bucky grins a little.] Look, you never know when that kinda thing is gonna come in handy.
But yeah - exactly. I mean, part of me doesn't want to get too comfortable with all this, either, right? People still disappear. Two of 'em left right off the Bishop, right before I transferred over.
no subject
People always disappear. No one is in your life forever, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't appreciate the moments you have.
no subject
[His boyfriend now, he guesses; it makes his expression go fond.]
We're not gonna try to get out of here - not like we would if we didn't have a reason for staying.
But we both know we're not the ones holding that switch, either way.
Doesn't mean I have to like it, though.
