Who: Bucky!Cap Barnes
Broadcast: Private to Natasha Romanoff
Action: Bishop, planetside on Lyndia
When: Shortly after the last shuffle (for video & Bishop), anytime during their stopover in the Bix system
[Video: Private to Natasha Romanoff]
Hey, so when's a good time for a fight and a drink?
[Action: Bishop]
[Bucky's new on the Bishop, but it's not like he's never been here before. Anyone who's been here for a week or two might have seen him coming and going from Steve Rogers' room. In fact, now that he's on board, that appears to be where he's headed now, with an armful of clothes and a strange, circular red, white, and blue shield tucked under one arm.
Actually, since his hands are full, he very politely(?) kicks at the hatch to Steve's cabin once he gets there.
Later, he can be found walking the ship, familiarizing himself with the bridge, bathroom, and kitchen - where he's also digging for the coffee grounds and means to make it into actual coffee, because that's really important. Seriously. Coffee is magic.]
[Action: Planetside]
[Bucky also takes the opportunity to stretch his legs on Lyndia. In fact, he takes the opportunity to spend some time outside, because no matter how much the natives of this world warn him, it seems fine to him. Not even a sniffle. So he ends up earning some extra cash, running errands and ferrying supplies from the surface, including hacking away at vines, gutting old wooden buildings, and maybe even seeing if he can't track down said reptilian beast.
Bucky spends his significant earnings largely on food and clothing, because a) he wants to eat things that are not gel and b) he wants to wear things that are not jumpsuits. He is also willing to share the riches with friends, should they run into him.]

In truth, though, once he's over Steve apparently materializing out of nowhere, the fact that the guy asked how he's doing... wow. It means a lot - though Bucky has to play it off. He's mostly successful. He thinks.] Yeah, pal. I'm doing all right.
[He might be sizing you up right back.] You had anything to eat that's not protein gel, lately?
no subject
Okay. [ Then a shrug, shoulders hunching in a little at the scrutiny. ] Had food here.

[Bucky definitely looks away first because it's not really a staring contest, in his mind. It does tell him a lot - more, anyway - about the guy Steve is now, though. It's... strange. But he can deal with it. He will deal with it, because it's still Steve. Still his best friend.]
Recently? [he asks, at least accepting that answer for what it is.] I was gonna get dessert. Sit down and have some?
[He phrases it as a request, not an order. He really hopes Steve might consider it, though. Bucky points to the chair next to his, not across from it.] Good sight lines from here. [It's why he's sitting where he is, after all.]
no subject
... Yesterday.
[ Which is probably not what Bucky wants to hear. Steve flicks his gaze back across the restaurant, then shrugs and folds his bulk into the offered seat. ]
What are you having?
no subject
I dunno. [He holds it out a little, pointing at one dessert, then a second.] These sound good?
no subject
That one seems okay.
[ Look, Bucky. He's choosing something. ]

And if he still feels warm relief at the way Steve's shoulder touched his own... he's doing his best to keep it to himself. Make sure it's no big deal, even if he might look a little more pleased than even when Steve sat down.]
You done any exploring? It's nice to get off the ship.
no subject
It feels -- nice. ]
Yeah, some. Got a few things for the underground people. Did you know there are dinosaurs wandering around? [ Yes, that is a hint of 'impressed assassin' in his voice. ]
no subject
I heard, [he says, sounding impressed, himself.] I haven't run into any, though. Been clearing out some of the old buildings. Found some interesting stuff, but no dinosaurs. Have you actually seen one?
[He leans in a little, genuinely curious. Maybe this feels just a tiny bit like the two of them as kids, poring over comic books and pulp novels. He can't help it.]
no subject
I dunno if they eat leaves or meat, but I ran across one while I was out wanderin' around. Those things can run. Just so happens that I can run a little faster. [ Thankfully. The corner of his mouth curves up another millimeter, clearly pleased with himself. ] It was like something out of Burroughs.

[And maybe he's kind of enjoying the image of Steve outrunning them... only because he knows it worked, though. He can imagine if he were there at the time, he'd probably have been having a heart attack. It's generally been better for them both, really, for him to learn about some of Steve's worse antics after the fact.
God, even just that is so familiar... he feels like he wants to capture whatever this moment is, and save it forever.]
Makes me kinda sorry I missed it. Were you wearing a loincloth, too?
no subject
Hell, no. This ain't some Earth jungle. God knows what kind of things are lurking around here that the locals aren't telling us. Wearing a little flap of animal skin and nothing else is insane.
[ And he'd rather tip the mental balance toward 'not insane' now, thanks. Especially since nobody has honestly tried to attack him yet. Aside from Buck himself, and a few people from nearly identical worlds, nobody really cares if he's running around and making decisions on his own. It's rather refreshing. ]

[Bucky ducks his head at that, laughing quietly and waving one hand just a little.] Okay, yeah - good point. Playing Tarzan is a lot more fun in Prospect Park than on an alien world. I mean - I guess that makes you John Carter, anyway, by default.
[Right about then, the food arrives - Bucky nudges the dessert Steve had chosen over toward him with the outside of one forearm, pulling the other toward him.] Dig in, pal. My treat. Gotta keep your energy up if you're gonna run from dinosaurs again. Just in case.
no subject
[ If so, the laws have been loosened greatly in the time he was gone. But then the food arrives, and Steve rolls his eyes at the miniature lecture, choosing to just pick up the silverware provided with the food and dig in. And, this way, he can eat without feeling guilty about spending credits. ]
no subject
[It's clear that's a thing Bucky liked - likes - about Steve, given his expression.
Of course, it's clear that he likes the fact Steve is digging into the food, too.] Gotta admit, I really wish we had the capacity to store more than a little fresh food at a time. I'm gonna miss this when we take off again.
no subject
All I know is rules.
no subject
We can change that.
no subject
[ He might sound a little skeptical. ]
no subject
[Bucky's mouth twists.] I guess I don't know, exactly, but - we'll find a way.
Like - right now. I know there's the Atroma and shit, but no one's tellin' you what to do otherwise, right? You're in charge of you.
