Hi, everyone! Minako here, again.

So, after hearing back from a good number of you who were interested, the final verdict is that we're going to use the money raised from the date auction for purchasing supplies before we leave the system.

Personally, I think that's a great idea.

SO... that said, I've gotten quite a lot of sign ups! I'm really excited. Remember, though, we need buyers for this to really work, so don't forget to stop by this weekend. I'm going to set it up in the lecture hall on the Iskaulit.

I can also use help with decorating and other tasks surrounding the auction, so, even if you don't want to participate in the matchmaking part, you're perfectly welcome to help in other ways! Just let me know!

Decorations? I can do decorations.

( Jean isn't there for betting on any dates at all but she can hang decorations with the best of them. Better, even, considering she doesn't have to use her hands to put them up. )

Sure! In two days, around mid-morning, I'm going to be at the lecture hall. I have some ideas, but, we can meet ahead of time to figure things out, too, if you want?

Later today works for me. I don't have anything going on so it's not going to be hard for me to get together with you.

I'm a telekinetic, too, so I can move stuff without needing my hands for it.

Oh, that sounds handy. That means you get stuff up high, too, right? We won't need someone on a ladder.

Yeah, I can lift things over my head. I can actually hover a bit, too, so it's sort of like flying but without the...speed part.

( Jean laughs a little. )

Never thought my mutant powers would be used for party decorations but I can't think of a more worthy cause.

[Minako looked excited about this.]

What do you normally use your powers for?

Saving the world, of course. What else? I mean, I guess I could be a supervillain but I'm not too into black spandex and laughing menacingly.

( Simplification of villain motivations? Check. Still, the point remains - it's just not Jean's style. )

Yeah, villains can be pretty weird sometimes!

[Minako laughed a little. What would she know about villains, right? Haha, ha...]

Know any personally or just speaking in general? Because I try to keep away from them when I can.

( Curious thing to say, that villains could be weird. Hmm. )

In general! We have super heroes back home, though, that help out with that kind of thing, too!

[Yup. Definitely weird and coincidental. Nothing at all here being left out and kept secret!]

I like to think I'm one of the heroes but if you're a villain, well. I'm not going to be the hero of the story to you.

( It's all a matter of perspective. )

Oh! Well, no. I'm not the villain. [She chuckled a bit.] Though, I definitely can get that. The villains that attack people back home are definitely not fans of our heroes.

I think it cramps their style. They want to stomp around with their own theme music and here we go, ruining the day.

( That's been Jean's experience with villains, anyway, other than the ones who used to be her friends. )

I like to think I'm the hero of the piece, usually, but I know I screw up sometimes.

Everyone messes up. Even heroes. It's okay. As long as we- we do our best to fix it, it's fine.

[Oops... did she stumble there? A little. Minako realized too late that "we" didn't have to encompass her as a hero, but just a more general "we" for everyone.]

[Manji chuckles with amusement at hearing this.] Who would sign themselves up for something stupid like this? [You would, Manji. You just don't know about it yet.]

Who wouldn't? And it's not stupid. It's for a good cause. We can't run the Fleet without supplies.

Date some random person? Likely to end up with some asshole. [Like Manji!] We can run just fine on rations if we had to. You lot would just need to toughen up a bit is all. There are better ways to get supplies then dates.

But that's the thing. We don't have to run on rations if we buy supplies. So, why chance it? Why not be prepared?

Besides, it couldn't hurt to have a little bit of fun to keep our mind off the fact that we're stuck on a reality show against our wills.

Then we go hunting instead of wasting time on some stupid date. [Although he has no argument about wanting some fun. So he just doesn't say anything about that.]

Not everyone can hunt, and you can only do that when you're on a planet.

Besides, you'll miss out on the social aspect of the date! That's the best part!

[Sorry, Manji, but it was near impossible to kill Minako's spirit.]

Then go collect vegetables or something! [Although he just scoffs at the notion of having to be on a planet.] That's why we stock up on a lot of food before we leave and we can do that without extra money.

Besides; the social aspect is the worst part. I'd happily miss out on that. [Good thing it's near impossible because this guy is a party pooper]

[Who hurt you, Manji?]

Well, I completely disagree! Sure, there are other ways to get supplies, but still. Dates and hanging out with friends are fun! [Sayeth the Senshi of Love, so there.] You just don't know what you're missing!

Maybe someone will sign you up!

I can do that just fine without spending money. This is a complete waste and why would anyone sign me up?

Because friends like to see friends have fun. And, if someone signs you up, you don't have to spend any money at all!

There are much better ways to have fun. This is basically slavery! [MANJI!] Selling people off to the highest bidder. Bah!

[Minako pouted a little.]

That's not fair. It's just for fun. No one actually owns anyone else.

They're buying me, aren't they?

They're donating money to a cause with the reward of spending time with you. They don't own you.

[She was trying very hard not to roll her eyes right now.]

They're spending money to have me over anyone else. Sounds like ownership to me.

And who are they buying you from?

You. They're buying me from you because you're the ringleader.

But I don't own you. So, they can't buy you from me if I don't own you.

Yeah, but you're still selling people. That's basically slave ownership. [If she couldn't tell, he's just being an asshole.]

So... then, in a way, since the money is going into the Fleet as a whole for buying supplies... you're selling yourself. Because, I'm not collecting the money for my own personal use, since I don't actually own anyone.

[Logic!]

And I won't be using any of that money! This is a scam.

You'll have access to everything gained from the auction. [Smile!] You don't have to go shopping with the rest of us when we go, but we'll be sharing the supplies with the whole Fleet. That's the point of the fundraiser. It's to benefit all of us. That's why it's such a great idea!

I don't need any help from the fleet. You keep your supplies to yourself. I'm not going to benefit from selling people.

[Minako shrugged.]

Okay. Your choice, then.

Good. I'll take my choice then and not get involved. [And off the grump will go.]

[Minako sighed and shook her head. Ah well. Can't please them all.]
