mission 03: video, action
Who: Steve Rogers (AU)
Broadcast: Network
Action: SS Blue Fish, SS Iskaulit
When: During drift
Network
What's your favorite kind of music? I ask because I'm still catching up on what I missed back home, but I like discovering new things.
Action
[ During the first week or so of drift, thanks to mostly palling around on his own in the last system,Steve Grant seems slightly more at ease in his own skin now. He's still not the most talkative guy around, but he's working on that. A little. Mostly he can be found on board his own ship or at work, but sometimes he'll go to the gym at odd hours or settle down in the art room with some paints or a pencil and blank sheets of paper.
Less often, but when he's most restless and can't sleep, he'll just walk around and make maps in his head of where his fellow passengers are allowed. And where they aren't. ]

[She walks into the art room, easel in hand, surprised to see someone else.]
Color me surprised. I was expecting to be alone.

I can leave?

There's no need. You don't seem the type to talk my ear off.

I'll be quiet as a mouse. [ except for, ] You paint?

[This doesn't answer his actual question, but Natasha tends to be cagey about details about herself. And that aside, she's amused and interested at a Steve who's experimental with his music.]
Re: video
Don't think I have.

[Something about that whiff of Americana.]
When you get to Nancy Sinatra, you should call me.

Re: video;
Are they a special ops team?
Re: video;
[ He laughed at the image that presented. ]
No, no! They’re a rap group from the 1990s. My favorite is their song “Sabotage”. Though being a special ops team would have been a good backdrop for one of their videos, I’m sure.
Re: video;
What's rap? Do you have samples?
[ Look, he can do a lot of things. Most of it involves murder and mayhem, and the skills necessary to pull that off. Which is the entire reason for him asking, actually. ]

I like the piano. I'm learning to play, but I'm still not as good as I'd like to be. I suppose that makes it... classical? I'm still not completely sure of what the genres are; I feel like there's only two: soft and loud.
video;
It could be classical. In my world, that generally means playing the music of composers who've been dead several hundred years. Most of it is purely instrumental.
But there are ... more contemporary ones who still play piano. Most of the time, they also add lyrics. [ Unless it's experimental jazz. ]
video;
Does it... have to be that old? [He looks puzzled.] Quite a few elven composers are still alive today, owing to their longevity I'm sure.
I suppose that makes sense. I won't be adding any bawdy tavern lyrics to my playing anytime soon, though.

[ But ... ]
How long do your people live?

I like music with a lot of energy. Conviction.
[He taps his chin.]
A hard bass line.
Re: video;
You like modern music?
[ Considering a bass guitar is something of a recent development. In the last century, anyway. ]

[He makes a gesture with his hand, a sort of side to side movement.]
Not death metal like Blightboar. A little too dark for me. But a good stadium anthem, I'll take that.
[There are many kinds of axes in Azeroth.]

Two questions. What is death metal? And are you talking about the national anthem?
