Rose | OTA
[Rose is rather spiritually attuned, and she can feel the planet calling out to her before they approach. The calling gets louder and louder. At first it’s pleasant, reminding her of the festivals of her youth. But it doesn’t stop. It doesn’t cease.]
[Once they land on the planet, her legs seem to move of their own accord. She soon finds herself in a quaint meadow, surrounded by trees. She should be happy, she should be happy, but instead she’s slumped on the ground, clutching her head in pain. To anyone who knew her on Eorzea, this would be the tell-tale sign of the Echo, but something seems different.]
Seven hells...isn’t being one planet’s damned servant enough?
[“Relaxing”]
[Despite it’s pull, Rose eventually makes her way back to the city from the clearing. She’s set up shop at a small cafe, taking in the scenery. In her lap is an old, tattered sketchbook with the name ‘Anna Qeido’ written in an elaborate font on the front. Of all the things for the Atroma to send her, this? It’s certainly not what she expected.]
[There’s a bittersweet smile on her face as she flips through the book. Stopping every so often. It’s rather large, so anyone nearby will be able to see the drawings. Most of them appear to be of flowers, although there’s the occasional drawing of an eastern village.]
[So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!]
Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.
[Rose had been warned that creatures from any world could appear, but why this? What had she done to deserve this? Hadn’t she suffered enough?]
“And so you see, that’s why we require your help, yes yes! The tasks may sound arduous and needlessly convoluted, but we assure you they are no such thing. We only require your help this once!”
[In front of Rose there is a small, fish like being. He stands about waist height to Rose, and is wearing a small red apron with a large bell. The creature’s round head is sporting rather large whiskers, and in his eyes...there is only despair. Do not look at the Namazu, lest they find some way they can use you to turn a profit.]
so long -
As it so happens, I've found a funny-looking ball, and I happen to be carrying a big stick...
o7
[As she turns to look at Belthazar, she shakes her head.]
You're best off just ignoring them entirely. They're a tricky lot, and they never cause anything but trouble. The last time I helped one, he also assured me "it would only be this once" and I wound up spending three months coordinating an asinine festival.
no subject
Nah but really he was out here looking for stuff to make potions out of, as he is wont to do, and he saw some familiar red hair. Now he has a disdainful gold gaze that he turns on the fish, something raw and sharp enough that it could turn someone to ice despite his fiery inclinations.]
As much as I would like to not bother with this pitiful creature, it's already bothering me. That leaves me no choice. Sometimes you need to break a dozen eggs to make the perfect omelette.
[He waves his hand over the Namazu, to make him a little lighter. It's a traditional mage spell-- Slow Fall.]
Do enjoy the sights, friend.
[He brings his staff up in both hands, takes a step back, and takes a very big swing.]
yeet the fishboi
[She’s also laughing. She’s laughing so hard she can barely breathe. Good job, Belthazar.]
That was beautiful. I take back what I said before; you’re pretty useful to have around.
belth said 'fuck them fish.'
As you should. I'm versatile! One could memorize a thousand spells and be completely useless without a little imagination.
[He replaces the staff on his back and faces her.]
... So that creature was from your world? If something from Azeroth makes it here, I can guarantee it won't be harmless.
hey, at least treat them to dinner first
I can’t argue with you there. Throwing rocks at things can only get you so far.
[The glorious life of being a White Mage.]
Yes, their kind are referred to as ‘Namazu.’ They’re difficult, but not outright harmful, unless they get at your purse strings.
[Or if you they sell you out to the Empire, Rose adds silently.]
I take it Azeroth is your home world? What surprises can we expect from there?
great he'll take them to red lobster
[Casters, man.]
I would like to keep my purse strings to myself, thank you very much. As it turns out, there's a... race of people called goblins, not so much different from you and I. And they have a penchant for business. They absolutely love to scam anyone who so much as breathes in their vicinity, usually through outright deceit or lousy business practices-- or my personal favorite-- by trying to make a machine that will either not work, explode, or kill you somehow...
I have zero tolerance for dishonesty [unless it's Taako, apparently] so I suppose that swing has been a long time coming.
[He folds his arms.]
Remember that last planet where everything was ridiculously large? It's like that, except everything has spikes too, and it would likely have a terrible attitude due to having its home destroyed in the Cataclysm or something to do with the giant sword sticking out of the world currently.
