[ a. the pitfalls of being Stuck ]

[ Yet another system that feels like... this. Though it is stronger than the last.

For Haggar, the way the sensation washes over her the closer they draw to it is... at first, distracting at best, though for most of her interactions she seems normal enough, if quiet, but she almost always is. There's been something disquieting about the Fleet of late, so she had made it a point, to be present and visible to those around her.

And then they arrive at the most prominent of the planets, and there's something haunting about the vague nostalgia, all the blue and green, the clear technological advancements that hold so much promise and wonder, the way that ringing gets so much more insistent that it just shoves everything around in her head, struggling with -- something else. It's loud. All of it is too loud and she cannot hear even herself but she feels relentlessly. Drawn.

Her facial markings glowing brightly as she leaves the ship, doesn't say where she's going, perhaps even isn't all too certain of that, as she ends up mostly meandering places, almost in a daze, searching, feeling almost compelled. Time is something forgotten. It might be a few hours, it might be days, she doesn't know.

Her cat for the moment remains on the ship, and Kova will proceed to bother anyone he finds to protest this.

But it is in a place filled with flowers that she finds herself stopped at last, holding onto a strange item that she's barely aware of having come across, let alone aware of what it is or what it once meant, but she's sitting with her arms wrapped around her knees in the field in one of her teal and white outfits and.

This could be a while.]

[ b. the children desire a beach day ]

[ However it may have happened, Haggar is slightly more aware of her senses, now, out here on the beach in of course a full body wetsuit with a tasteful sarong over that, and a pair of cats-eye sunglasses which feels odd because she doesn't really need it but someone told her she needed to accessorize. It's not easy to be in the moment to focus, and sometimes her attention wavers, but it's far better than that initial reaction had been.

Her marks still glow. The planet is still invigorating as almost treacherous the pull is. But some of them have gotten a nice place to sit out on the beach in something of a group, with enough placed blankets and umbrellas and lounging chairs and who knows what else magicked up by varying parties.

When she's not being dragged into something, she is trying her best to at least watch those around her, or at least their items, usually perched on the edge of a lounging chair while Kova properly lounges on it, because someone might as well use up the space on the chair, let alone that he's a cat out on a beach, but he's helping her stay present and so it is needed.

Or she's trying to create some sort of sand structure with her magic while less attentive to any antics, because why not. ]

[Hear. Feel. Think.]

[Rose is rather spiritually attuned, and she can feel the planet calling out to her before they approach. The calling gets louder and louder. At first it’s pleasant, reminding her of the festivals of her youth. But it doesn’t stop. It doesn’t cease.]

[Once they land on the planet, her legs seem to move of their own accord. She soon finds herself in a quaint meadow, surrounded by trees. She should be happy, she should be happy, but instead she’s slumped on the ground, clutching her head in pain. To anyone who knew her on Eorzea, this would be the tell-tale sign of the Echo, but something seems different.]

Seven hells...isn’t being one planet’s damned servant enough?

[“Relaxing”]

[Despite it’s pull, Rose eventually makes her way back to the city from the clearing. She’s set up shop at a small cafe, taking in the scenery. In her lap is an old, tattered sketchbook with the name ‘Anna Qeido’ written in an elaborate font on the front. Of all the things for the Atroma to send her, this? It’s certainly not what she expected.]

[There’s a bittersweet smile on her face as she flips through the book. Stopping every so often. It’s rather large, so anyone nearby will be able to see the drawings. Most of them appear to be of flowers, although there’s the occasional drawing of an eastern village.]

[So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!]

Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.

[Rose had been warned that creatures from any world could appear, but why this? What had she done to deserve this? Hadn’t she suffered enough?]

“And so you see, that’s why we require your help, yes yes! The tasks may sound arduous and needlessly convoluted, but we assure you they are no such thing. We only require your help this once!”

[In front of Rose there is a small, fish like being. He stands about waist height to Rose, and is wearing a small red apron with a large bell. The creature’s round head is sporting rather large whiskers, and in his eyes...there is only despair. Do not look at the Namazu, lest they find some way they can use you to turn a profit.]

Remy LeBeau | OTA

[personal profile] cajunspice 2019-06-10 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Thing is, even after all of this, Remy didn’t get sick of seeing new stops. Finding new stuff to explore, moving amongst it’s people, finding what bits and pieces he can compare to that he already knows. But with the recent events he can’t help but compare it even more to home, of how different everything was, and if it was worth it, especially with that meet up to come. It was heavier thoughts than he wanted to have, rather to just getting lose in their time here and enjoy it.]

1) Vanakaliva Islands
[Remy’s not much of a beach person, but he knows several who are, plus it was a nice way to distract his mind from everything else. So grab up some towels, snacks, and drinks, and heading out for a relaxing day under the sun. While the resort side is fun, there’s an appeal to getting a little lost on the more private beach side of things.

Plus, really, he’s a kid at heart and the excuse to be able to go climbing around those rock formations is too much a temptation for Remy to ignore. So don’t be surprised to find him half way up the cliff side between times in the water to cool off, or just lazing around on the sand.]

2) City
[City time is about normal; restocking items he or the Bar needs, looking for new stuff that caught his eye, and just finding a way to have fun and spend his time on stops. It’s easy to find him looking through a range of shops, most likely lingering around some of the clothing ones to get new items to wear and freshen up his wardrobe, as well as stockpiling a few ‘just in case’ general gifts for future events.

Remy also takes time to check out the museum. Now this does feel like a step back home. Maybe not the content inside, but just being in a space that exhibited it. It does bring up a few nerves; that urge he always has to pull a job, then feeling bad he hasn’t been practicing his skills while he’s been on the Fleet. So while he is admiring the art, there is a good chance half the time he is also working out how to steal it…]

Natasha Romanoff | sneakinging in an Avengers: Endgame update

[personal profile] outstandingbalance 2019-06-10 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Natasha's not usually one to nap. Even in the fleet, there feels like there's too much to do. Too much risk of missing the next planet threatening catastrophe or bit of information doled out through clues and hearsay. It's a migraine that takes her down in the middle of the day. Also not usual. It occurs to her, but the headache and nauseous light sensitivity are enough to convince her to lay down.

Hard to say if things would have gone different if she'd done otherwise. Probably not.

When she wakes, it's with a start. Her whole body tenses like she's waking up from a nightmare. It's not a dream, though. It's all too real, and the proof of that is on her face and in her hair. The blonde is back—but just at the tips. It's been months since the last time she bleached it. Maybe years. At some point, she stopped caring—she had priorities so much bigger than keeping her hair stylish, bigger even than staying inconspicuous. It's visible for anyone looking how long it's been since she cared what she looked like.

The new memories overlap with the old one, but there's so much new...

She has to get out. She's off Vanquish quickly, not sure who she's looking for or who she's trying to avoid. She just needs to be moving. She needs fresh air, if she can find it. And quiet. She needs—

She just needs something. She can be found in bars and markets, walking in the street, distracted and vaguely rushed, but with no where to be. People from home she'll catch if she finds them, grabbing them by the arm and looking into their faces without a word and searching for signs they remember too.

There's no words with that look. Not at first. Somethings can't be asked.

( a. rainbow waters of Naviadna - Sing me a song )

[On a planet like this, with her magic supercharged, Lup would normally be out practicing her spells, flinging them wildly at targets out in the middle of nowhere, expending her energy, trancing, doing it all over again. Like many others, she's aware of what might be coming soon, and she wants to prepare. But… the song. Something about it calls to her, and she responds the only way she knows how: following the voice, wading out into the water, listening to the song she hears, and echoing it on her violin. The sound of it is soft and willowy, uncharacteristically so for her, and something about it gives the impression that a part is missing. Lup doesn't mind, though. She can hear the other half.

Maybe, just maybe, this time, if she indulges in the music of this world it'll give her what she needs. So she plays, sometimes a variation of the tune, sometimes other songs. Somehow she always goes back to that same song, though.]

( b. not what she'd expected… )

[For those who reach the rainbow pool around the same time Lup is there, they might feel a different sort of pull- an uncomfortable tug on their heart. It's not painful, and ultimately harmless, but it is accompanied by a low-pitched jingle of a bell.

Lup is sitting at the edge of the water with her toes dipped in, holding a small and simply-decorated bell in her hands, occasionally flicking it with a finger to make it ring and glancing around to see if anything happens. When she notices anyone approaching, she immediately clamps a hand down on the bell to silence it, eyes wide.]

Oh balls, shit, are you okay?

( c. tapestry of skin - text, LOCKED TO MAGNUS )

hey burnsides

I need some legit Protection, call me when you're free for an afternoon

( d. Beach shenanigans )

[A bit later on in the month, Lup has shifted her attention to a local beach, clad in a flame-bright bikini and an enormous floppy-brimmed sunhat. She's sprawled out on a towel, laying on her stomach, her top undone to indulge in the warmth of the sun and darken her tan without the suit getting in the way. Is it a public beach? Is nudity even allowed? ...Does she care? (Nah.) She might even be Trancing, appearing asleep to those who pass by. Maybe wake her up before she starts to burn…?

One thing that's noticeably new is a tattoo drawn on her back- a set of seven black birds of varying sizes and arrangement, flying along her right shoulder blade, soaring towards an orb of white light near her neck. It looks pretty fresh, and the way she's laying makes it easy to assume that she's showing it off.

When she isn't sunbathing, she's futzing around in the water, chucking a beach ball at passerbys or kicking water in their direction.]

Taako ★ OTA

[personal profile] abracafcku 2019-06-11 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
A ★ It's the...Karaoke Hour!
[A singing planet again, huh? He knows a few nerds who will be super pumped to be here again, but Taako is content to just soak up all that extra power and revel in the feeling that his spell slots refill endlessly. There's nothing better than knowing you're practically unstoppable when it comes to magic as long as you're on the planet. Unfortunately, that power comes with a price and that price is the fact that the planet's song? It won't shut the fuck up.

No matter where he goes, this dumb planet's song is following him, tugging him toward a certain place. He tries ignoring it for a few days and makes it up to a week before he can't take the constant noise in his head anymore. It takes him awhile, but when he makes it to the water and listens to the song, it gives him a sense of dread with what lies in front of them. The Marsiva, this planet, they're...suffering? Fuck. Why does he have to deal with all this bullshit? He just wanted to live in fuckin' peace for once. But the price of knowledge at least comes with a reward and Taako, not wanting to get wet, uses a Levitation spell to pull the trunk out of the water.

Unfortunately? It goes a little haywire what with the amount of magical energy flowing in this spot and instead of floating nicely out of the water, the blasted thing rockets up and lands with a thunk not but a few feet away from the next person who was coming into this area.
]

Oh shit! Watch-- Well, too late now, but uh, head's up?

B ★ It's the...Adventure Zone!
[The quest board here wasn't as ragtag as Craig's List, but at least it came with a lot less headaches and weirdos trying to attach themselves to his life. Not that it turned out to be a bad thing in the end, but, well, Taako just wanted something easy and clean that would earn him some gold (or rather, credits) so he could call it a day. The quest itself was stupidly simple at its outset: find out what was eating people's laundry in a certain wooded area of town. Should've been a quick and easy investigation check, maybe a little monster slaying, and then chaching! Wallet filling time.

Except?

By the time Taako had tracked the creature down, he'd picked up a partner or two and now he was staring at a very tall, very confused looking half goat, half humanoid bipedal creature chewing on someone's bloomers it had ripped off the line. The goatman wasn't threatening and looked more hungry and lost than malicious, so while Taako had his Umbra Staff out and a spell prepped, he...just...couldn't bring himself to do it. With a disgusted sigh at himself, he turns to his partner for this fantastic failure of a mission and groans.
]

Okay so, totally not my usual jam, but...uhm?? We can't- We can't really hurt this thing, right?

[From across the laundry pole, the goatman bleats a curious: Piiiizzzzaaaaa?]

C ★ It's the...Beach Year Month!
[Having decided that this was his last chance to relax before all the hullabaloo started, Taako has shunned doing anything useful and has taken to the beaches. Wherever there is white sand and gnarly waves, you'll find Taako. He's dressed to the nines for the beach - his hair magicked up to look sun-bleached and pulled into a low ponytail, two puka shell necklaces around his neck, a red hibiscus looking flower in his hair, and a pair of swimming shorts with horrifically 90s flames shooting up the side. He's wear flipflops and has absolutely no shits to give as he lounges on the sand tanning himself or sits a surfboard in the water. His surfboard? Also decorated with "rad" 90s-era flames; so many, in fact, that it actually looks like the entire board is just set ablaze. It's eye-jarringly gaudy and Taako loves it.

When he isn't hanging out, he can be seen tearing up the waves as they crash toward shore with surprising agility. He's got a second surfboard set up on the beach, stuck vertically in the sand with a sign posted on it: "Surf It Up w/ Taako! Lesson prices flexible."

belthazar | open!

[personal profile] spellsteal 2019-06-12 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
[I. hey! listen!]
[Belthazar is familiar with singing planets by now-- familiar enough that when he feels the pull, he doesn't try to resist it. The song is something he never quite gets over. It's invasive and weird, and it pulls at his soul, and he swears he can hear his big sister singing about the moon over the water like when he was a baby. But this song is different. It's insistent, and he finds himself visiting the little pond where the planet communes with them. There's... a lot to take in from that message, and he's not totally sure what to do with whatever's in the water.

But he listens and he takes notes, and when it's over, he fetches the trunk out of the lake. with a levitation charm. It's wet-- nothing a quick charm can't fix-- and as he waves his hand to dispel it, he sees the arcane runes on the binding.]

My spellbook! [He snatches it right out of the air and nearly drops the trunk on his foot. That's not nice. So he kicks the trunk with his boot and... stubs his toe, swearing under his breath. He's a disaster.]

[II. memorial]
[Belthazar spends a little more time at the memorial than people would expect. He runs his fingertips over some of the names carved in the stone, trying to see if he recognizes anyone. The irony of this planet hasn't escaped him. It's another Marsiva-- another Exsilium-- and the thought of these people being trapped here, forever unable to go home, makes him want to throw up.

That could have been him. Still could be, if this plan fails. For as many times as he's been sent back home to be with Adrasteius and his siblings, he's been pulled back here more. He has no optimism for this sort of thing. Just a lot of gumption and mana gems for energy, and a half-finished spell that nearly murdered the last person who tried to cast it.]

[III. beach episode! (after the interceptor meeting)]
[He has a lot to think about after that meeting and the details divulged. There's... a choice there, if they succeed, and he hasn't thought about it but now he really does have to think about it. What better place to brood about something than broad daylight, on a beach? He doesn't look inclined to swim though considering all the creature comforts he has set out: a wide beach umbrella, a red and gold blanket the size of an area rug, and a picnic basket with some kind of frosty magic around it.

Belth is wearing sunglasses that are about half the size of his face, and his hair is pulled up into a loose bun with his signature red and blue ribbon. A red robe hangs loosely from his shoulders over a plain pair of swim trunks, but unfortunately for everyone's eyes, he's pale as hell. He isn't watching the waves, however. He's just staring at the leather journal in his lap. Not even reading it! Just... staring.

He doesn't know how to say goodbye to any of this and he's not... ready? He's not ready.]

deviances: (you can have it back)

Eithan Paine | OTA! ♥

[personal profile] deviances 2019-06-13 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
1 ► Trouble is Fun
[ The meeting with the Interceptors was informative. And positive! And... a lot. Eithan's been ruminating on it all and what it means, which of course means he is also completely, 100% pretending that everything is fine and nothing is wrong whatsoever.

So, there's a quest board of sorts! And that means there are all kinds of different ways Eithan can make himself useful, especially given he's a talented fire mage and pretty used to fighting things off at this point! He's totally prepared for anything.

... Except for slimes.

In fact, he is so unprepared for slimes that when he finds a group of them in the forest, he hesitates - because these things? They look pretty harmless, why would someone want them driven away from the city outskirts? Well, he gets his answer, because one of them eats a rock. And gets a lot spikier. And a lot bigger too.

Eithan - a pretty tall dude, mind - stares wide-eyed and eye-level with it. And then yelps and leaps out of the way when it suddenly starts spinning wildly in his direction!! ]

Son of a motherf--!

[ He lights a fireball in his hand and starts to fling it at the rocky slime, but another pink one eats another rock and then decides to straight-up hurl itself at him like the first one, forcing him to dodge again! He retreats into the trees for a moment, just long enough to stare at them from afar as they continue gobbling up rocks and crystals and changing into their more dangerous, spiky, extra large selves. ]

... Holy fuckin' shit are you fuckin' kiddin' me.

2 ► Homemade Fireworks Are Also Fun
[ If you're hanging out on the beach at night, and just happen to be on the same beach as Eithan, you're in for an explosive surprise. Literally.

Singing planets are awesome for amping up magic, and Eithan's pyrotechnics are no exception. You bet your ass he's going to take advantage, and who doesn't like fireworks~? (Plenty of people don't like fireworks, Eithan, don't be a dick.)

He's standing right at the edge of the water. Over the waves - a fair distance out, just to be safe (because he's not that much of an asshole, most of the time) - he calls out his fire. With a steady muttering of incantations under his breath, he shapes it into a spiral. And for a few seconds, he's content to just admire his handiwork~ But then, with a snap of his fingers, it detonates - with a CRACK! and a flash of light as the embers fall away, harmlessly, into the ocean below.
Then he does it again. And again. One shape at a time, but always chaotic, intricate patterns, brilliant red-orange and crackling with pent-up, volatile energy just waiting to be unleashed. He paints sunbursts. Ribbons. Birds. Stars. Whatever comes to mind, one at a time. Each one is just as fleeting as the last, and explodes just as beautifully.

And Eithan? He's smiling like the really is nothing wrong whatsoever. He strethes his arms up over his head, rolls his shoulders, then crosses his arms and considers the sky with a "Hmmm..." ]

What should I draw next...?

3 ► Overthinking, However, Is Not Fun
[ Playing pretend only works for so long.

Maybe you catch him on the Blue Fish, sitting in the lounge with a bottle of rum, fiddling with an empty pack of cigarettes as he stares blankly at it - well, more like past it, unfocused. Or, maybe you run into him at a bar, planetside, two glasses in and staring into a third with the last remnants of a small, absolutely fake smile on his lips - like he's getting tired of keeping it there for so long. Either way, when he finally feels like talking, he'll huff out a dark laugh before he starts halfways confiding in whoever's around. ]

You know... I've been here a long fuckin' time. Literally years. Hell, I even got thrown back home, dragged to some other weird reality-bendin' place, and then dragged back here all over again.

... 'S actually gonna be over, huh?

[ That should be a good thing. It is a good thing! It's a good thing. It's... an ending. And it means... choices. And having to make them. ... So apparently, it's complicated. ]

Wildcard ► Make Your Own Fun

In one of the cities
[Undertaker hasn't seen a place like this, but now that he can see properly, he'll take his time and enjoy it. If they do come back here, he doesn't imagine it will be for some time, and it won't hurt to explore the area and get to know it a little. Even in the city, the planet seems to sing, and it's beautiful.]

[The alien race about has been welcoming enough, and he'll take a bit of time to visit the shops around and see what they're all about as well.]

At the pond
[The song of this world is intense, and he has noticed that depending on where he walks, it grows more intense or softens. So he follows it to where it is the strongest, beside the rainbow pond. There isn't anything that he can say to describe what happens next, but once the message is done with him and the weather calms, he notes the box waiting for him just under the surface of the waves.]

[It doesn't take much to drag it out to shore. He has been brought here for a reason, and now here he is. Within, he finds little more than a lengthy sotoba. It doesn't seem too special, too unlike the ones he carried with him, just soaking wet. But as soon as he touches it, his eyes widen. This isn't an ordinary stick of wood. This is his death scythe. He bids it shift forms immediately and grins, lifting a hand to caress the skull at the tip.]

There you are. How did you get here, my friend?

Action for Ciel
[He already knows the boy isn't going to like this. He isn't even going to try and lie and say he's crazy about the idea himself. But he has already decided that this is no home for him, not like this. He can handle drifting about in space, visiting other worlds. He can handle the monotony of lab work that isn't even really work at all.]

[What he can't handle is that they're all basically slaves to this mothership and whatever runs it. He needs to know, beyond a doubt, what it is that's using them as profit to run this show, and what it plans to do with them.]

Memorial of the First

[Another place Vash likes to linger and visit is the memorial wall. He runs his hands over the names that he can reach. Reading them one by one and spending a little time at each. Wondering what the person behind the name was like. Were they kind? Where they brave? Did they like where they wound up? Were the always missing their home? Had they died back home to be given a second life here? He had so many questions that he wished he could ask them.] I hope that you were all happy.

¿por qué no la playa?

[Keith wasn't a huge fan of the beach, but Lance was, so he was here. They could use a small break anyway before the fecal matter hit the air circulation device, and, after meeting with the Interceptors about their plans, Keith figured the downtime leading up to it all would be a good way to prepare. Depending on how things went, who knew when the next 'vacation' after this would be?

Plus, they had some decisions to make. If they really could change the portal to send them all home, then what? Should they go? Should they stay? There was a lot to lose either way.

Keith hated decisions like these.]

¿quién son La Primera?

[There were some weird clues around this temple, and Keith was digging up what information he could. Really, it was mostly about how this place came to be that had him the most interested. These were other people that had been pulled in like him and the rest of the Fleet, and they were 'stuck', but happy. People had settled and created lives here. That was both encouraging and worrying.

As he looked around, his attention seemed to be focused on the arrivals and departures of anyone who had been pulled in from other worlds.]

In a rare show of her serious side, Minako's planning instincts were taking over, demonstrating why she was Sailor Moon's second-in-command of the team, and why she lead the Inner Senshi when Sailor Moon was being Queen Serenity.

Or you could find her doing some much less serious things with shopping and relaxing. Your choice! Hit me up on plurk at [plurk.com profile] duches77 if you want to plan!]

Bucky does some exploring, as usual, because it's nice to get out and stretch his legs. He ends up at the rainbow pond, eventually dragging a small chest out of the water that contains a navy peacoat that he spends a long, long time looking at, before folding the sopping thing over his arm and making his way back to the Bishop, where it ends up hanging to dry in Steve's - their - cabin.

Otherwise, on the planet, he stops for a while at the Memorial of the First, sitting nearby and maybe looking a little lost in thought- but certainly not unapproachable. He stops into a library or two, too, and if he maybe picks up a few odd jobs here and there, well, a guy's got to stay busy. You might find him hauling trash or supplies for a restaurant or shop, or maybe painting or repairing a building here or there. This time around, at least, he seems to be putting his back into smaller, more mundane tasks, rather than adventuring. Not that he can't be convinced, if you're going and you need a second set of hands.

And at some point he runs into Steve - after Steve has talked to Nat, though of course, Bucky doesn't know that. If he reads anything strange on Steve's face, well... there could be a few reasons for that. His own smile is careful, but genuine, and it grows as he gets closer to Steve, stepping right up into his personal space, so their arms - and hands - brush. "Hey, pal. This place agreeing with you? I saw there's an art museum, have you been a hundred times yet?"

Supplies;
The cities themselves aren't the most comfortable for him: too many people and though they're all doing their own thing, it just serves to underline how uncomfortable he feels in his own skin. But the cities are still the best places to look for supplies and considering that the future seems suddenly more unpredictable than usual, it'd be foolish not to explore the kinds of wares available. That doesn't mean he's not on guard though; he slips around the edges, tries not to engage in too much conversation. He aims to be as unnoticeable and forgettable as possible and for someone with his skills it's certainly not an impossible task.

Research;
It had been an offhand comment that brought him to the library in the first place; for all the apparent technology on the planet, artificial limbs like his are apparently rare — at least according to the person who mentioned it, which he's taking with a large grain of salt. Still it had been enough to send him to the building just to satisfy a thread of his own curiosity; while he can perform his own basic maintenance, it has not escaped him that he might be hard up for more serious repairs, should they be needed. Of course he doesn't remember much of how he was made, and doubts that he'd ever known the more technical details. He wouldn't have needed them: a weapon's purpose is to kill, not to maintain itself. And though he's found little information of use to him personally, the quiet atmosphere of the library is at least a welcome thing.

Training;
He likes planets where he can get outdoors and away from people. Hiking and climbing provide good exercise, or a run along the beach. Almost any activity that allows for pushing the body to its limits holds his interest and although he prefers to train alone, he might not say no to a sparring partner. It all depends on his mood, really — though he does at least feel a little more freedom to just breathe on the planet as opposed to on the ships. The mostly picturesque scenery doesn't hurt either.

Wildcard;
Up for almost anything, as long as you don't mind slow tags. Hit me up with an idea here or catch me at [plurk.com profile] sometimesamuse if you want to plot. I write my starters in prose but if you prefer brackets I'll happily match your style.
