What's it supposed to do? I mean, "bad state" could mean a lot of things.

Yeah... it's called the Animus Bell.

[She turns it so he can see it better, though it isn't much to look at- just a small nondescript silver bell. It's absolutely steeped in the sort of dark magic you'd find in a crypt or something, though.]

Last time I saw it used, it ripped someone's soul out of their body and almost killed them. Dangerous is putting things lightly.

[ Yeah, he can feel all of that dark magic hovering around it like a thick haze. He gives a low whistle. ]

Yeah shit, that sounds like somethin' not to be messed with. ... So if it can't rip souls out of bodies anymore, are you tryin' to figure out what it can still do?

Basically. The downside is that most of the effects are made for people other than the one wielding it, and it isn't safe to use around others, so, like... rock and a hard place?

[She grimaces.]

I should probably just hide it somewhere. It's... not like this thing was made to do anything good.

[Hard to imagine doing that, though. No matter what terrible harm it's done to the world they hail from, it's still his bell. That connection would be difficult to let go of.]

I know the gifts we get from planets are sometimes weird or kinda backhanded, but the way this one keeps goin' on about helpin', maybe there's somethin' else to do with it?

... Plus, I dunno, with the way luck runs in this damn place, it'd probably just follow you around somehow. [ Snort. ] I've heard about people tryin' to leave things behind when we start driftin' again, but they just show up on the ships again.

[Lup huffs, idly tossing the bell into the air- and hastily catches it to stop the chiming it'd begun to do as it flew, muttering a curse under her breath. Stupid bell. Why'd he have to make this thing so easy to use?]
