two ☀ video / action
Who: Mal & YOU
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Cargo bay of the SS Caprine.
When: Friday all day!
I woke up this morning [from hanging upside down, as one does] and thought: what haven't I done since I got here?
[A pause for effect.]
Well, I'll tell you. I haven't gotten into any good fights. And I think that ought to change.
The cargo bay of the Caprine's open for sparring all day. Come on if you think you're hard enough.

[When Ray throws his punch, she dodges it easily - almost too easily, as if she's moving slightly faster than humanly possible, her head and torso blurring slightly as she gets out of the way. Once she straightens up again, she throws a lazy blow for his solar plexus, which again seems to come a little too fast and a little too hard to be purely human.]

He doesn't even hiss at the pain, just twists on his heels, gets close and aims a blow at her chin.]

But for all that Ray grew up on the South Side, and that he has plenty of practice with dirty fights, she's too strong and too fast. He can already feel the bruise forming on his jaw, her hand on his collar just a touch too strong. It should be making him more cautious, maybe tap out- instead it makes him more motivated to keep going. He makes a grab for her elbow, hoping to twist her, trip her.]

Ready to give up?

Are you kiddin' me? I'm just getting started.
[That's not to say he isn't a little freaked out by her strength, has no idea where it's coming from. But he's good at ignoring a viable threat, so he just jerks his chin: bring it on.]

You didn't do so badly, for your first time up against a vampire.
no subject
That's one way to boast.
[He taught a blue glowy elf how to play baseball, but apparently a lady vampire is totally super implausible.]

[This is so baffling to her. She cocks her head at him as she drops her hand, puzzled.]
no subject
Wait, you were serious?
[Wait, she said 'not bad'. He grins a little at that.] You're a real vampire?
no subject
[He's such a weird person, she can't even understand him.]
What, did you think I was a fake vampire? [She shows her teeth; they elongate and sharpen as she opens her mouth.]
no subject
I didn't believe it at a-- Jesus Christ, put those away, you're gonna hurt someone!
[Something dawns on him, predictably, and his eyes widen:] You're not gonna-- [he gestures at his neck] ...Are you?
no subject
No. I don't do that sort of thing anymore.
[Hide your neck, Ray, you're being shameful.]
no subject
Can't blame a guy for asking. [She probably can.]
no subject
Where I come, this means we're off bl-- the stuff. So you don't have to worry. I'm not coming for your vital fluids.
no subject
That smarts. Hey, that strength part of the vampire deal?
no subject
[Smug, smug, smug.]
