[Axel, you definitely need a buddy. Especially for how easily trouble finds you. So here, have one, in the shape of a curious Kairi.]

Not sure whether to go in or not?

[She walks up from behind him, hands folded behind her back as she gazes into the forest. Luckily she had bought some hardy clothes back at the casino station, so she's in sensible pants for once rather than her preferred skirts.]

[He gives a small start and turns over his shoulder to look at her, then looks back at the forest.]

I'm weighing my inevitable desire to go against my better judgment against all the horrible things I can imagine resulting from that decision. [He glances sidelong at her.] Care to cast your vote?

I'm going in. [Not too much thought there. Hah.] I mean, I know there's something not... right about this place, and I plan on being careful, but I want to explore. I finally get to be on a new world and actually see it.

[Well, that was fast.]

Just like that, huh? [He laughs softly.] Nothing less from you, I guess. This is the girl who just jumped right into a Corridor of Darkness without hesitation, after all. [He grins at her.] Certainly a creepy forest has nothing on that.

[He steps up beside her and puts his hands on his hips.]

Guess I better go with you, then. You know, just as backup, in case you run into any trouble. Your boys would Keyblade me in the face if they found out I let you go in there all alone.

For one thing, I don't think Sora or Riku have their Keyblades here so I think you're safe on that. But if you want to come, I wouldn't mind a partner. It's... probably safer to not go alone anyway.

[She smiled a little to herself.]

The forest is... a different kind of creepy. Can't put my finger on it. The Corridor was like jumping into a void. This is more like jumping into the maw of a sleeping tiger.

[He snickers.]

Well, I think I'd prefer to stay off their bad sides either way.

But sure, I'll go with ya. You're right: it's probably better to employ The Buddy System. I sure didn't wanna go in alone. Especially now with that tiger analogy, sheesh.

Shall we?

[He extends his hand to allow her to go first if she wants; he'll watch her back, or he'll blaze the trail, either way works for him.]

So what've you been up to? I don't see you on the network a whole lot. Anything exciting going on on your ship?

Probably a good idea. It never ends well when they tagteam.

[She mock salutes Axel before turning on her heel and begin heading into the forest, expecting he'll follow.]

It'll be fine. I'm sure there aren't any actual tigers. [Maybe.] But things have been kind of quiet. I don't make many posts, but I listen to other people's. You're not on too much yourself.

[He does follow, two paces behind her, hands in his pockets for the time being as he carefully treads down the path through the underbrush.]

Well, if there are any tigers, maybe we'll luck out and they'll be afraid of fire. [No I didn't just make a Jungle Book reference that would be way too meta for this canon.]

Mm, I guess we're the same, as far as that goes. I don't have a whole lot to say to the whole fleet, really, but I like listening to what the fleet has to say. We have some interesting characters among us, that's for sure.

[But you totally did make one and it was great.]

Can you conjure fire? I thought the augments hampered that kind of stuff.

[Not that she'll be complaining if he can. Most animals were scared of fire. Then again, fire in a forest like this could be... problematic.]

We do. And we seem to get more almost every day. It's fun listening to them, but yeah, I'm with you on not having things to say to the fleet. I guess we're boring. [Said teasingly.]

Sure can! [He demonstrates, just a little tongue of flame in his palm, then extinguishes it.] I don't think my magic is as strong as it was back home, but I've still got it. [He frowns at his hand then, before shoving both into his pockets.] Can't conjure my weapons, though, which is a bummer. I miss 'em.

[He snickers then.]

You say boring, I say mysterious~ We're not the sort to just bare our souls publicly.

Huh. I wonder if I can do anything. Not that I'd know how anyway... [As long as one of them was armed, though, then they should be set.] They would be useful here, but I guess we'll make do with your fire.

[She laughs at his comment, tucking some hair behind her ear.]

Hmm, I like mysterious better, too. So we'll go with that. But you're right, I guess we're both more private.
